Jeremy Clarkson?

It kinda looks like him . . . where did you get this?

Compare this real life footage of him:

But then, I haven't heard it. Haven't even seen one.

So why am I buying it?

Because Kurzweil has a signature sound all its own. It allows you to play with sounds like no other instrument. I have the K2000 module, and I know the PC3 is four generations better. I have remarks of owners to judge it by. And mostly, because I trust Kurzweil.

So you are buying an item without testing it yourself first...

An item which has been out for a while, has been tested and reviewed by likeminded people with the same goals and desires as you and is widely touted as being excellent despite it's cost.

And that is somehow related to a game which isn't released yet, no one has played or reviewed, and at best is currently in a tizzy of back and forth positive and negative news and is being widely praised by people who are also blindly devoted based on speculation, hope and desire....

Hmmm....

I'm buying it without question or complaint, because I've played other games. They aren't Gran Turismo. And I trust the Master. ;)

Are we still doing the whole master thing?

And we are still throwing around blind trust?

If you want to to do that, ok, but understand that is no logical basis for an argument on the facts at hand.

This very much feels like debating things with a religious person... God said so and I know it will be so, trumps all evidence and rational logic.

However, GT is somewhere in between. Kaz and his team have continuously and consistently put way more content in their game than was needed to sell. I think we all know that this is more of a passion to him than a business.

Up until recently I would have said the same thing, but now with all the business tie ins with car companies, GT academy and what not I am starting to think that may have changed. His passion may be his business, and I am starting to think his business is starting to turn into a franchise and not just a focused single product anymore.

So, it is probably more analogous to a great artist. They are still going to sell the product, because they need to support their hobby, but their main goal is to pursue something they love.

Or it's like an artist who goes mainstream and waters down their talent to attain business goals. Example: See almostany talented mainstream musical artist.

Besides, for 99% of the members here, it is a given that they will buy the game. So, when they hear people unnecessarily criticizing it, and ruining the hype, they get annoyed.

How do you define when it's unecessary criticism? And if anyone is ruining the hype, it's PD with their actual game.

BTW what's wrong with ruining hype? Isn't that basicaly the same as wiping out delusion?

Certainly there are things about the GT series that have deserved a lot of criticism, but there are people on this site that take it way too far and seemingly never get excited about anything.

And there are some who never take it very seriously at all and will always be infatuated no matter what.

And I was very excited... excited about GTPSP... until it had not GT mode.

I was excited about GT release... last xmas.

I was very excited about GT cars... until 80% of them were sub par.

I am excited about weather, track editors and all that good stuff... except I have learned now that prehaps even more than other companies (which is a sad turn) I must be reserved with what I get excited about from PD.

There is a saying in financial investment which is that past peroformance is no gaurantee of future results. And to some extent it applies in a lot of places... it is tempting to say PD has created a long row of top notch games so this one will be too... but there is a point where you must admit what is before your eyes is not what was in your hopes.

Eat the dry turkey, enjoy the other great food and mingle with the family. Because moments like this are meant to be enjoyed.:)

While they may be meant to, drunk uncle, gangster cousin and angry dad can still ruin it.

It might seem that way, but unlike God, the Master has given us some things to play with to show what we'll be getting. So no, it's not blind trust.

Besides, what does it matter how I feel about GT5? Or are you on a crusade to get everyone to feel the same way you do? Because I can tell you now, that's likely going to frustrate you. You might be advised to start a thread titled something like "Post your dissatisfaction here, since no one else will listen to us!" And have a ball grouching to each other. ;)

We already have one: THE EMO THREAD.

I think both you and Triple D have managed to personify the predominate two spectrums at GTP about GT5.

They both have legitimate grounds for their positions.

It is just a matter of how each individual wieghs them and which side of the scale they tip to.

Nice post. 👍

I could reply to each one individually, but I think me and you would go back and forth forever if I did that. So, I will be the person that steps back from that.

But, I think I can pull one main theme from what you have written. It sounds like you have a somewhat healthy case of justifiable cynicism. I don't want to go too psychobabble on you, but we all know how we react when we feel like our trust has been taken advantage of.

So, I don't blame you, but maybe me and you should both try and meet in the middle. :)

P.S. Ruining hype is not the same as wiping out delusion. ;) Often that is the case, but sometimes hype is justified and should not be reigned in. I guess we all need to take it piece by piece.

Well people constantly judge this game on evey bit of information/video that becomes available.
Some will overhype and get over excited and others will downplay positive things and latch onto negatives.

Of course the wise thing to do is try and be realistic and wait till the game is released before judging it.
So many threads on this forum/game are based on possibilites.

He said 16 player or more. That's good! 👍

He also said they will be busy until November getting it finished. That's not so good for bug's glitches etc, ie Forza.

Stil I suppose if the date slips it will be only one delay.

I wonder if most of the 80 million dollar development cost actually went to 200 cars and 10 tracks.(since these will probably have the new features)

Are there any reports about the performance (frame rate, tearing) of the E3 demo?
The code isn't finished but it would be interesting none the less.

-- Photo Mode --
- 2 Modes: Race Photo and Photo Travel
- Race -
- Take photos of cars racing
- Photo Travel -
- Situate vehicles at prescribed locations
- E3 demo includes: Kyoto, Japan; Italian countryside; Red Bull Hangar 7
- Full replication of real world wind, weather, and sounds
- Allows for Full Manual and AUTO mode usage, just as with professional DSLR cameras
- White Balance, focal length, shutter speed, F stop, etc.

I've noticed weather from very beginning! ;)

I don't see any deformation. I see the brake spoiler for the SLR popping up and maybe a small dent, but no major deformation

Look closer, just where the tailgate is, after the impact, just below it's actually bent in. i was confused when he said that the first time too. But when played the video and paused it, I noticed the dent. Pretty good eyes Red.
