There's a part of me that after seeing so much of this game before it's out that can't help but feel disappointed.

I love racing games, and then you mix in the fact that this game has been in development for so long, I cant help but wonder, "for what"? The truth is it's just cars on a road. I think all this hype has pulled me away from what racing games really are, and has me expecting something more than it could ever be.

I look at these vids and screenshots and I just cant help but feel less than impressed. It looks like GT4 with a couple more features and HD graphics. All this waiting and talk, to get the same thing over again, but a little enhanced.

I miss the old days before the internet. I guess im officially old now but it's just not like it used to be.

This after crumby videos being leaked? I do not feel the same. The most important aspect of any racing game(the physics) is what sets this apart from GT4. In addition to that is the online features that don't exist in GT4. But of course you aren't going to get that from crumby videos....

Hey, this is normal man, its the excitement and anticipation going away and the reality of it actually materializing, replacing all the wonderment with facts. Kinda like going through life... a new job, a new car etc... its why the journey is more important than the destination.

Once you have it in hand and have confirmed the stuff you wondered about and then realize there is so much more you didn't know or anticipate that hopefully rounds out the experience... But if its not enough to get you excited again then it will round out as a disappointment. But I doubt that will be what happens to you, the game is too feature rich. BUT, if the experience of racing is what your after grab the latest F1 game... thats simulates the feel of racing very well... and I'm not talking about physics a much as the who exp.

i still don't the current Honda Civic Type R (FD2) anywhere.... i hope the new cars are not just the ones we all seen already... (this happened on GT PSP)

I want a Gran Turismo 4 with HD and more features and better physics. Just like GT2 was to GT1 and GT4 to GT3. I can fire up GT1 today and enjoy some old school gameplay. Tuning up my R32 Skyline and racemod it and do a few races. Love it!

Looks like the videos had to be taken down at the request of SCEA.

I think it feels great to be part of a community who has this respect for SCEA and other companies aswell. 👍

We wont be waiting for long now, I can almost feel the game in my hands. :)

You can see the current Civic Type R in the intro just behind a Peugeot 207.

Just had another look and it may be the Integra Type R.

I certainly miss driving Peugeots :)
Are the "missions" still in the franchise ?? (3-lap battles, 1-lap magic, etc...).

Look at the News page.

:dunce: got ya.

I guess it proves two things.

1: They do follow whats going on.

and

2: They really dont give a crap about their paying customers. If they did all this wouldnt be going on, and we would all be happily playing what is supposed to be the best racing game ever created.

The E3 trailer is good mostly due the song IMO, and the I love how they did the "5" logo in the beginning.

Agreed. Everything fits with that trailer, even the song. Luckily we can by pass the intro with our copy of GT5 once we get it. I am glad I didn't hold out like others to watch the intro on release day. I would have been ticked off as if the game was delayed again, lol. Now after the factory part was over, the intro was feasible.

I think what your trying say is convincingly vs. physics. "REAL" physics is actually quite boring... and I have a lot of experience with fluid dynamic simulations in games... I once ran a perfectly replicated WW2 plane in a 3D space and it wasn't at all what you would expect... Only when we dialed back the physics did it start to "feel" good. Sort of like AI, AI that is designed to react to your input is a lot more convincing that a brain with options and your input being only one of those considerations. The best is someplace in between with randomized behaviors to simulate mistakes but even they need to be over exaggerated to be convincing...

sorry, killing time waiting for more stuff :) and I always here they physics argument... to each their own but in a game that needs to sell millions it to all the same... So the term "Physics" has been butchered to mean a whole lot of "realistic" stuff and marketing runs like a banshee with it....

That's why I'm avoiding watching most of the videos, especially the opening. I figured I'll wait and see it. I did watch the oil change video, though.

Too true, kyle. I've even e-mailed IGN to see if they could force hands within Sony. I guess even IGN is not powerful enough to make them finally set a date, even after all these leaks.

You miss the old days before the internet?. How the heck did you update your games??. Just joking......im an oldie too.....not that im saying your old.......ooppss i guess i best quit before i dig an even bigger hole

I love Polyphony Digital and I love Gran Turismo 5, but right now, Sony can suck it. They are handling this horribly.

As ive said before in a previous post somwhere, they really do have us by the short n curlies. They have those that want to play the game that is. Im not sure what the hell is going on, but it really is getting old now.

I have a feeling they have caused a lot of unintentional damage to themselves from this whole delay. They could have given us the release date at anytime I think, but they are literally so incompetent, they won't do it. :dunce:

What happened to the Sony from a year ago where they were at the top of the console market from titles like Uncharted 2 and Demon's Souls? Sony last year was incredible and release amazing games. This holiday they have completely screwed everything up for themselves.

How weird... look what car/color combination I parked next to today. Looks like the one in the leaked video lol.

is this at CSULA?

Just update you guy, I removed the videos that Sony did not want shown, as Jordan did. I'd like to keep them up, but I'd rather not risk getting in trouble for publicizing them here, so I thought I'd take them down as a precaution.

kyle:
In a year they "won" at E3, it should not have gone this way at all, specially with our beloved GT5, the title I think will be easily among the top 5 of this console, unless GT6 does way better.

All I think we ask is that you upload new content and keep it there until Sony asks for it to be taken down. We all appreciate the effort you've done. 👍

I started to get some what worried when Sony completely embarrassed themselves at Tokyo Game Show 2010, and Microsoft walked away with all of the praise from the gaming press. Freaking Microsoft stealing TGS. They barely have a foot hold in Japan, but people were just going crazy for their presentation this year, while Sony disappointed.

Your point is not relevant to the point I was trying to make even if I agree with you here. Basically GT5 will not handle like GT4 was my point. There is no argument.

I thought the guy drinked the oil to clean it then spit it back inside the engine.

OK, if the discs are not a fake then, how would you guys explain the wrong code printed on the disc plus the un-centered art-graphics ??? Was this game rushed even with 6 years of development ?? To get to the final stage with a poor art on the disc, a fake code, and a really really bad intro movie !? It's odd...

The disc would look really cheesy if the wheel was centered, the code isn't fake and the intro movie is good. 👍

its kinda stupid jordan took down videos at "SCEA" request its not like your doing any thing wrong your just linking a video some one else made. if they really wanted them down they would contact youtube team directly no one else lol what a joke

Wouldnt doing that decrease the power gained by said oil change? :ouch:

Damn i know there is a recession going on, but jeezz at least give me my extra HP.
