Is everybody expecting a lot of information for any particular reason?

Because the kind of people who can get that information are going to be shut in a room with Kazunori*.

Or "me", as I'm known.

*With a bit of luck

I personally think that there will be a lot more information released about GT5 at the TGS than at GamesCon.

I'm "afraid" that will be the case:)
But still.. any tidbit of new information at Gamescom is MORE than welcome

Agreed! Every bit of information is very welcome. So, Famine, gNNY and Venari, do your best to provide us (= GTP) with new information.

at 6pm, the doors to the press conference will open, the start itself is at 7pm. But at 7:45 pm it's supposed to be all over already. The E3 conference was two hours long, if I remember correctly. We'll see. Even if they don't highlight GT5 during that there's still the 1 hour GT5 break-out session on Thursday morning.

Which break-out session? Where and when?

Are you invited to this break-out meeting?

That would be awesome, and I wish you all the luck you need, but even so...There is nothing stopping him from avoiding your questions and saving the answers for TGS.

Ah well, lets just wait and see what happens. Have a good time whilst you're over there...I wish I could get the time off work but that's life I guess.

The Gamescom is the single most important event in Europe - there will be some competition between the publishers because all the big resellers get stocked for the winter sale around this time. And they will pay close attention how the crowd reacts. It's not that the public is invited because all of a sudden developers are that interested how a finished product is received by the audience - the sellers are.

But I have to agree: if there is a bombshell remaining, it will be dropped at the TGS. Doesn't mean there isn't enough goodies left for next week :D

^^ Very true, I'm betting on the unveil of some unexpected european track, and a full showcase of Top Gear'ish features, like online power lap boards and discussion groups for the TV show episodes. The big blowout will be at TGS, and then we will know if there will be dynamic weather.

..yeah maybe you're right... but I still have this words in my mind...:)

Expect a lot more on Gran Turismo 5 at the Gamescom European gaming convention in August, where Polyphony is expected to finally reveal all. IGN will be there to bring it to you, so stay tuned for more GT5 news and impressions.

Europe is the biggest market for GT series ... they have to drop some bomb..

Wasnt it Gamescon last year, which was first to show the damage in playable form?
So here we are a year later, perhaps then it might be fitting for them to now show the full effects and completed version of damage within the game?

Just a thought...

For God sake, tose of you going, please don't spen all the time on the GT5 booth and check out the F1 2010 booth please?

What i really wanna see is how in-depth the car customization is going to be

I hope its something like Forza with the Livery editor rather than something like NFS, which I hate. However, I would also be angry if it is just changing the color of your car or just adding bodykits, I want all three. But if PD means customization as in performance, wheels, and spoilers, then I will be a VERY sad panda.:(

 Polyphony Digital

Unfortunately i won`t be at the GamesCon. I hate it, as it is only 4 hours away from me, but i have no friends sharing my gaming hobby :(

But i do have a request: Gameplay of the Tesla Roadster :)

For those who get the first chance to play the demo at the GamesCom this Wednesday, please ensure that they have set the wheel options correctly. This means setting the FFB to something like 8 and the wheel mode to Simulation.

Last week, when playing the SLS AMG demo, we noticed that the FFB was set to 1 and the wheel mode at beginner (?). Changing these settings made a huge difference: The input from the wheel was much more direct and felt more natural and with a higher FFB setting I felt more as one with both car and road. As a result I needed much less steering actions to keep the car on track.

So please ask them what the settings are and if they are not correct, change these settings (in the game's main menu, like in Prologue) and have them do the same for all other racing pods. Much appreciated. 👍

I really hope there will be affordable sports car footage.

Until now we saw race cars and hyper cars...where are the european hot hatches (focus rs/st, golf gti/r, scirocco, cupra's, renault sports cars, abarth, ds3...). For me this kind of cars is one of the most important feature in gran turismo (with old cars). 👍

To be fair, not everybody wants to play the game with realistic settings, be it stronger FFB or harder physics/AI. Some people just want a bit of fun, so what is "correct" for one person will not be "correct" for another.

Wow... I had nobody else to go to a concert with once as nobody else was really into that music/artist. Didn't stop me going!

What I'm going to try this year is to go on the side pods, usually the ones in the center of the booth are always packed with people and they got a bit annoyed that I changed settings every time I started playing and then stopped. So if you go on the side ones, usually you got less people (or at least that's my impression) so you can just make sure you set up the game properly and have a few tries at it without bothering people. That's my plan at least.

Also, I'm going to try to hook up my camera directly to the tv to bypass all the noise and get the sound straight from it, hopefully I'm able to do that. That'd sure be nice :P Last year I was the only dude with a headset hooked up the tv and everyone thought I was crazy, haha :D

My bad, I meant setting the wheel to simulation mode. That actually makes driving the car easier. :)
