IMO If GT5 will have dynamic weather - day time simulation, then there will not be GT6 for PS3…
Even that stuff could be patched in to GT5 if it doesn't make it in to the initial release. They were planning on patching damage in to Prologue until they decided to hurry up and finish GT5 and GT-PSP instead, so there's no reason they can't patch in some lighting changes and alterations to the coefficient of friction.

Yep, could be that way too.
DLC "damage pack", "day night cycles" why not.

The release date for me is not an issue as I have heard substantial info giving me the release date, and it isn't December 4th ;)
What I want to see most is, the new manufacturers that could possibly be in the series. I want to see a video with a Lambo, Porche, Bugati & Kornigsegg all lined up ready to race. Now that would be something special in my eyes as these cars have evaded the series for too long, and they would be nuts to not want to get involved in what shall be one of the biggest releases for years.

Grim ;)

The "second version" never sells as well anyway, so you may as well just focus on keeping the first one feeling fresh IMO, and give people a reason to keep buying it throughout the generation. Free DLC will keep the fans happy (and give latecomers that much more incentive to buy it), and paid DLC will keep the lights on while they work on GT6.

2 words, Burnout Paradise... that game is doing exactly what you are talking about and they are doin pretty well for themselves

They dont need to keep the lights on with the money they earn from GT5 DLC. They allready had Prologue, which probably funds at least half of the development of GT5. It will be the same with GT6, there is going to be a Prologue again.

I guess with DLC you can expand the lifespan of a game over a generation of the console, but it only seems to work in theory. Even Forza gets its second iteration in this generation, though they could have cept the game alive with DLC. (yea ok, Forza 2 was just a Forza 1 HD (visualy), so they needed a visual update)

We are nearly 4 years into this generation, if GT6 would utilize the same Engine that GT5 uses we might be seeing a GT6 on the PS3 at the end of this generation, before the PS4 is released. Or, which i think is better for SONY, they will release GT6 on the PS4 with an updated GT5 engine. Since the PS4 will most likely have some kind of enhenced Cell processor (or at least something with similar structure) it might be easy to adopt the old engine to the new console. Having Gran Turismo as a launchtitle would really help the consolesales.

Indeed, and I actually had them in mind when contemplating strategy for GT this generation. :)

You don't need a new game if you can ensure your game always feels new, and can just release enough compelling paid DLC to keep the money rolling in without pissing off your fan base by "locking up all of the good stuff." Actually, I know people who said they were going to gladly pay for the Burnout DLC simply because they had been given so much content for free, they felt they owed Criterion at that point. That's how you do it. 👍

That's an excellent point about the advantage of "reusing" the architecture. It sure would be nice to not have to wait three years for the big franchises like GT and GoW to arrive. :D

That’s quite a bold yet vague thing to say, it seems like you actually believe you think you know the release date. No one is going to give you a pat on the back for saying when it isn't going to be released, anyone can say I don't think it will be released on a specific day and chances are they will be right. Considering only a few people at PD & Sony will know the date, I suspect you have no credible knowledge but if you're so sure please share your information, if you correctly choose the release date I will deem you the prophet of Gran Turismo.

Hes a super-mod, maybe he knows it from Jordan.
Dont care though, he most likely wont tell anyone anything, because of an NDA.

GT5 isn't going to be released on a Friday!!! OMG, this is huge!!!!!

Its gonna be the 1st, 8th, 15th, or 22nd of December.

GT4 was released on Feb. 22nd in 2005, but I'm guessing the 1st because it's the earliest.

What is Jordan's relation with PD or Sony? How would he be able to get that kind off information? I don't believe he knows to be honest, because one of the stupidest thing to do is giving a forum moderator a top secret release date.

These are my predictions:
-More than 60 total tracks and 20 locations but not much more.
-90% of cars have a cockpit.
-No real time weather but we will be able to choose what conditions we want.
-Weather only available with 8-12 cars on track to make up for the performance loss.
-Full day night cycles a la GTR2.
-A more detailed damage system. Better but still not as detailed as GRiD, more like NFS Shift (but more realistic in its effect).
-External damage only on race cars but internal on all cars.
-No Porsche but hints at its future inclusion.
-A very realistic racing experience with pit stops, tire wear, fuel consumption, oil consumption, parts wear (yeah like after 200k miles on your Audi S4 you will need a new tranny), more advanced tuning with real world parts and as recently hinted a more realistic aerodynamic system and more dynamic Ai.
-A simple career mode that is basically what we are used to but easier to navigate and reduces grind.
-Multiple game modes, including career, quick race, custom race (custom quick race), challenge mode, custom challenge (make your own challenge), online (match making and private w/clans).
-And for the sad stuff... no livery editor and many cars from GT4 are simply carried over and the amount of truly new cars is only about 200-300.

All in all I think that is pretty fair.

I don't have a clue about these things but what if the BIG announcement is GT5 will be released along with GT PSP October 1st?

Well, Im sadly believing we Wont Have Livery Editor, although, i still have Hope for Aerodynamic Modifications.

Also, Every car Will Have Cockpit, because I Know that Being a GT Series, they wont be That Cheesy of not Giving Interior to All Cars (Except Concepts, and Cars that never had one in Real Life).

About Damage, Only WRC, Nascar and Some Super GT Cars, but not Street Cars.

I dont Believe we will See Day/Night Cycle, but that we can Choose the Time of Day a la Live For Speed.

Im Expecting minimum 60 Tracks, the 20 thing Maybe was Gran Turismo Tracks, like from the 60 Tracks, 20 are Created by them...I Dont Know tho.

And Talking Bout Release Dates, i Think well Have it in December.

DOn't see it in the slightest. That's little over a week away from TGS.

Given the size of GT5 and how many it will sell. It could well be released when it comes out with a PS3 slim bundle.

Sony doesn't want me - someone outside of their organization - to know what I know, but I'm very confident in the integrity of the information that I have.

Are you willing to at least confirm that GT5 will come out this year?

I wish Jordan & The Grim Reaper could say if it was 2009 or not. I have it set in my head that it will be a 2009 release so if it is not it will be a real downer. Should not have hyped myself for a 2009 release date just because of internet whispers but it is my fault. :(

My guess is December 11th 2009 because I can.

Edit - Where did he confirm it? The article with the wonderful Santa Claus picture. :P

That hacking is coming on well, isn't it? ;)
