First off let me note that I did not do this comparison. It was some guy on the Official Playstation forum I think. Anyways all credit goes to that person and not me. I'm just posting it here. :) Have fun discussing and PLEASE KEEP THE BS FORZA 2 VS PGR4 VS GT5 outta this thread. Already heard enough of it. hehe thanks.👍

Some good work there. All I would recommend is that you 'flip' the images that are facing the opposite way to the GT5:Prologue images (images 1,4,7 and 10).

I'm still amazed at the amount of detail in everything, esp. the Ferrari brakes and the Audi V8. They look, just amazing.
Not to mention, the 2nd GT5:P of the R8 could almost pass for a real life picture.

Do we have any proof that trailer was not CGI?
I'm 120% sure it's in game graphics.. I think it'll probably be even a little better in the final product of GT5 ;)

I mean it's a pretty big differense between GT4P and GT4 :)

Right GT-R is also digital. It is a HD render PD made for Nissan prior to lauch of new GT-R last year on Tokyo Auto Show. Render is made in GT engine and somewhere around this fforum there is even a thread about it.

Both GT-R pictures are PD'S magic :).

do you mean in game as in: in game replay mode....or in game during actual live racing/gameplay ????? It would be truly astonishing if i could race whilst seeing my car at the level of quality in those screenies!!!

   Simply amazing.I wonder if PD could do damage models, than it would be jaw dropping gorgeous!!! The 1st 350z photo almost look too realistic to tell.Great work by PD 👍 Now only if they don't let us down....

They all look great, save the gt-r concept. Most of them look like they're in a 'fog' for lack of a better description. Can't wait to get it, tho.

The replays and the races are the same, the graphics don't change, just your perspective does. Photomode was higher detail in GT4, but the race replays are the same as the actual race detail wise, your just seeing it all from better angles.

That full trailer including the pit crew section was in game engine, PD have made leaps and bounds since GTHD im very impressed with what they are achiving, by far the best game so far on the PS3, by comparison GTHD looks good but not as polished as the new trailer.

GT5 looks great, whoever doubted it would? but be realistic and view the video again.
The beginning of the video with the 350Z is entirely rendered, in the same way as the beginning of the GT4 intro, the detail and fluidity of all the crew are exceptional way beyond what you will ever see from an in game engine.
Beyond the 350z visuals were more like actual visuals from the game engine, though at this stage im inclined to go with the opinion that the Audio was post production, something along the lines of what PD has always done with game intros.
So from the little that was shown, there wasnt much for me to be excited about, HD visuals were expected from PDand PS3, but for me its the features and the structure that will make or break this game. I hope that a newly designed and built game that runs invisibly under the glossy coat will finally match the visuals, thats what i look forward to to get me revved up over GT5.

I think maybe I muddled what I actually meant, I meant to say that the bit at the begining was using in-game assets, the actual models and textures were from the game engine and will be used, for this all you have to do is watch the 350z video that was released on the PSN or net to see the actual model is very detailed, but I think that you are correct in saying that the lighting and reflections and overall look (AA & AF) have been upped for that bit of the video, but who knows PD could pull a swift one and give us graphics as we saw in the begining same as the 350z bits, only time will tell.

Error Acknowledged Sprite.
As expected PD will definately deliver on the ingame models, its the area I have no worry about!

The Pitwork 350z seems really nice in the first set of pics. The one where its in the pits..is....MMMMMMMM:tup:

I looked at the GT5P teaser video again, and I think I found further evidence of at least the second part being ingame stuff. I know we basically all agree in this, but the more we know, the better.

I noticed that in the shot where several cars come around a right-hander, the fronts of the car do this detail-jump-thing you've probably spotted in GT3 or GT4 before. It's when you look at a car and decrease the distance to it (it was clearly noticable when slowly approaching to a slightly slower car in a test course race), there is a specific distance where the game switches to a higher detail mode. With some cars it was hardly noticeable, some showed well-visible changes.

Anyway, in the GT5P video and that specific shot, you can see the cars fronts, or the shadows on those fronts to be absolutely precise, change. If you watch closely, you can clearly spot that this happens when they go below a specific distance to the camera position.

I made some screenies of this. On the left side, you see the front of the car before it changes, on the right side, just a few frames later, you'll see improved shadowing.

I think you mean LOD (level of detail) most if not all games use this to save on resources. Operation Flashpoint on the PC was a big fan of this, the further away somthing is the less polygons are used, OPFlash's furthest objects used 1 polygon. I will have to go back and watch the video again.

Those comparison shots look very different. To make the proper comparison, the lighting conditions would have to be the same. Just because its the same angle, doesn't prove anything of value. The GT5 screens alone, are enough to prove it looks excellent.

Sorry, I'm not following you. What's the problem?

EDIT: Ahhhhhhh ... you were referring to the comparison shots in post #1. Alright, got it now, sorry! :dunce:

Great Comparison pimp racer...
I'm proud to say I gave + rep. :sly: 👍
As for the content... What can be said when you're speechless. 👍
My brother took a look at the pictures when I said "this is the next GT" and he said "which ones are the game" (he's not a gamer like us).

I thought it was rendered as well because of how the camera swooshed inside the cockpit but I think we are wrong. I think it was real time until the camera went inside the cockpit. Look at this picture. If this doesn't prove some of that scene was real time I don't know what does.

We underestimated PD

Wow, seriously.
Even i had problems judging if the comparison pictures were all real pictures or not :)
Now hope the rest of the game is as good as the graphics and i bet everyone here is happy :)
