Gran Turismo 6 Soundtrack/Music Wishlist

I can't believe no one has mentioned this yet, or at least not that I've seen, because the soundtrack in GT5 is awful. In previous games they included something for everyone, which meant there was plenty of good, hard-rock style driving music. Even if you're not into that kinda thing, you have to admit that a diverse sound track is a good thing for a game to have, and GT5 did not deliver on that front.

The argument could be made that being able to import your own music makes the soundtrack irrelivant. But, for some reason custom soundtracks don't work in many online lobbies, meaining you either have to deal with the awful stock music or turn music off completely.

Does anyone else agree, or am I the only one who misses the days when GT soundtracks included Van Halen, Judas Priest, The Cult, Jet, Motley Crue, ect?

While you have a point, did you forget that you can put your own music into GT5? yes the rubbish menu songs remain but for driving you can listen to your own soundtrack.

I personally am more worried about a return of the series' motifs (in menus and whatnot), since the complete absence of any of those in GT5 (and what being there instead being so dull) bothered me far more than the race soundtrack.

As I mentioned in the first post, this does not apply to many online lobbies. Unless I'm totally missing something, in which case, can someone please tell me how to listen to my own music in online races?

Imo, the menu music is amazing with the exception of a few of the songs and all (7ish) of the songs by this one artist.

The race music is the problem seeing as how most anybody can listen to elevator-type music while not everybody can sit patiently listening to My Chemical Romance (I actually like them, even though SOAD would be better :)) and Skrillex/Tiesto-type music. I don't see any way how this can ever be fixed. The custom BGM has to be usable for everything, obviously.

I simply dumped Prologues's soundtrack into GT5 through custom soundtrack as I liked a lot of the music from Prologue. Also, GT5's menu music has all of Prologues menu music as well, you just have to check the box to enable it in the soundtrack settings.

I'm pretty sure others have mentioned it a few times in the GT5 forum. Besides, it's not too big of a deal considering we have other major things to worry and talk about.

Also, I appreciate GT's menu music. It may be too jazzy/classical for some, but it's what GT has always been. It has that feeling of maturity and professionalism to me as well.

For me, the only problem with GT5's soundtrack is the presence of songs you can't change or remove. That forces me to turn all of it off all of the time. Other than that it's fine. There's a pretty wide diversity and quite a few songs. There can never be lots of songs that everyone loves, that's impossible.

I actually think the menu music is among the best in the series, even though I have to turn it off due to those unchangeables. The racing music is just as good(read: mixed and rather blah) as ever overall with some passable songs and some irritating ones. After a couple of listens even the songs that I personally liked best in the older games became horribly annoying. Any on-track soundtrack in any racing game sucks, period. Now and then it's nice to listen to something while you drive so you get out some music to listen to, either outside the game or with the modern custom soundtracks.

Especially considering the ability to use your own music, the soundtrack is hardly a major issue. You can't use your own in voice enabled rooms online for whatever reason, but you can always listen from another source which accomplishes exactly the same thing. There are far more important things for PD to be worrying about than trying to get the song list exactly right to suit every single user's unique personal tastes. There are far more important things even just in the audio department.

More rap/hip hop songs, maybe dubstep.

*sarcasm* Call Me Maybe by Carly Rae Jepsen!

If there is ANY hip hop or dubstep in GT6, I will break the disc.

How about R&B?

There was hip hop in GT4, did you break the disc? 💡

I don't know why I said I didn't want hip hop. I actually love hip hop beats, just not with rapping. Dubstep, however, is terrible to me.

Going to have to agree about Dubstep. I don't ever see it being in the game though, it would really kill that "classy" feel of GT Games 8)

Not fair to Ghosts of Paraguay. Seriously, I named my tuning garage after a song by Ghosts of Paraguay.

I mean, what else could you want from a song?

As long as we don't get the "Gold, guns, girls" song... :yuck:

We should really avoid folk songs from a specific country. Other than that, I have no reservations; just, please, nothing like the Alabama/New Orleans type of music. (I can't even stand it...)

Though I am one of the few people who actually LOVE GT5s menu music, I do agree that the race BGM is horrible 👎 I would like to see more variety on the soundtrack in GT6, especially songs that get your adrenaline pumping! The whole theme and style should remain classy though, as that is what GT is all about. The dealership UI and music is a perfect example of this. Pure GT class at its finest. 👍

I recommend My Chemical Romance, blink-182, The Smashing Pumpkins, Cage the Elephant, Two Door Cinema Club, and a bit of deadmau5 and Skrillex for nice racing BGM. Makes racing a whole lot better :sly:

'The Entertainer' in GT Auto and the 80s porn music in the UCD and tuning shop are opposite examples of class. It just reminds me of PD's awkwardness and inconsistency. I don't ever wanna hear those songs in future GTs again :yuck:

I agree with almost all of that ^^^, excluding the part about "The Entertainer". And even though I hate the '80s porn music in the UCD, I wouldn't mind having it be the default song so long as the music can be randomized and the playlist fully customizable unlike the way it is now.

Btw, you're really not "one of the few people" who likes GT5's menu music. It might be true that a lot of people don't love it. We simply like it and I guess love that it reminds us of GT, which it soooo does. Pretty good feeling.

Doesn't need any music at all, it's now a complete waste of time to add it when you can use your own personal library. I love this function so much that when I do online racing I wont enter any rooms that enable headsets, that way I'll always get my choice of music and not the bile that came with the game, not to mention the boring conversations of other racers, foul language and background noises of kids, dogs barking and other peoples music being piped through my TV!

Like others have said, It doesn't really matter what songs are the soundtrack, when you can (hopefully) listen to your own choice of music when playing. Thank goodness for the personal BGM.

Within Temptation - Faster
Perfect for GT!

I don't want to hear Pnau - Baby in the pre-race menu! Never again please! IMO worst song ever.
