I was referring to our car tally, not the number on the booklet. A little below, you say our car tally (including all of GT Sport's list) for cars over 2011, is 200. Is that the number of 2011+ cars we are currently at?
That rather depends on what you classify as a car newer than 2011. A lot of cars in GT Sport - the fictional Gr1/3/4/B/X race cars and Vision GTs - don't have a year of manufacture. But yes.

Ok, so that I understand, you're not counting VGTs and those race cars?

I gave them all a nominal date of 2017 and as already mentioned, doing that we currently have:

131 cars from 2011 onwards in GT7.
  • 170 more (either new or what is left in GTS) gets us to the 301 cars from 2011 onwards.
  • 110 pre 2010 cars already in the list and we're at..

411 total. Assume then another ~30 pre-2011 cars and we're at 441.

So the numbers would just about work but it seems unlikely of the ~200 cars we're yet to see, 170 of them will be post 2011 cars. But they're going to have to be if both the 300 post 2011 and ~420 total are both correct.

It might not be, but a whole lot of their Japanese fans are gonna feel pretty misled if it's not. Seriously, copy and paste that little Japanese phrase into Google. I get stuff like this:

If that’s drag racing according to PD they could as well leave it out altogether in my opinion.

This is more along the lines of what I’m talking about:

I believe you're making a mistake in those calculations. You're adding cars twice. Don't forget a lot of the list we know for GT7 overlaps with that of GT Sport. Cars that are in both games shouldn't be counted twice.

I did a count just now, assuming all of GT Sport's car list makes the jump, as it is. I used Kudos Prime for the GT Sport list, and counted all cars listed without years as being 2011+. Some obvious exceptions like the classic PD Formula car were ignored. With that in mind, GT Sport contains around 220 cars from 2011 onward. Based on the list we have, here on GTPlanet, 19 cars, from 2011 onward, are new for GT7, so far. Which means, we currently stand at around 240 cars in that age bracket. We need another 60 VGTs, fictional race cars, or real modern cars to reach the 300 mark.

I'm not counting twice, I'm just not automatically assuming all cars return and only going off the GT7 list, so the 170 number is either GTS cars we haven't seen yet in GT7 or new cars.

But yes, if they all do return then your math seems correct.

My bad. "170 either new of from GTS". Missed that.

EDIT: Further maths tell me that, with all cars from GT Sport, plus all the new ones we know of, plus the 60 or so needed to reach the 300 at Brand Central, we would be looking at a final list of 445-450 cars. The biggest problem with all this, is that I don't believe there will be an influx of only 2011+ cars, with zero others from prior periods, from now to launch. As much as I may like that to happen, it's not like Polyphony, and it wouldn't be very fair.

I would still like to know what the difference in details will be between the PS4 and PS5 Versions, hopefully Sony will have more PS5’s readily available before the Game releases, still looking forward to its release though either way.
Loading times is what I'm especially interested in.

I hope the two Ferraris are from the years 2012 and 2020, and are called like this:

Ferrari F8 Tributo '20
Ferrari F12berlinetta '12

Loading times is what I'm especially interested in.

I would expect them to be the same as sport. Same number of cars on track. In the latest video the producer states that PS5 players will load into a session much quicker and can start runs before ps4 players can load the track.

Yes I'm leaning towards this, thinking about it more. Although I'm not sure in what regard. Maybe it's 300 cars in Brand Central that are either 2011+ or some other type of distinction that isn't mentioned.

Is your 200 GTS cars including all the undated but obviously 2011+ Gr. + VGTs though?
That’s why I said the years could balance out, including the VGT, Gr.1, Gr.3. & Gr.4. Many of which, don’t have a year.

Yeah, I meant the PS5 loading times. How quick are they? Less than 3 seconds? Would be great.

Thing is though, cars like the Honda Fit Hybrid, Toyota Aqua S and Toyota 86 GT Limited are in the Used Car Dealerships, according to the pamphlet, despite them being from at least 2011 and in more recent times.

This is all based on my assumptions as to which dealership certain cars will fall under (taking into consideration certain factors such as the year model, rarity, tuned cars with no year models, and so on).

So this means we need at least 63 modern cars from at least 2011 or newer to expand on the list. If anything, the final car list could well be at over 450 to 480 cars.

The game currently has 55 manufacturers (even counting the GT Awards brand for SEMA award winners), so at least five more manufacturers must be present in the game (hoping it's Jeep, Koenigsegg, Lotus, Radical and Zenvo, as they are strong candidates, and the Jeep we have is a Willys, and it will make sense to add actual cars from the Jeep brand). The Brand Central section mentioned that there will be at least 60 brands where you can buy cars from, so that does make sense after all.

It makes sense that you'd be able to find most, if not all cars, that you can buy in Brand Central, in the Used Car Dealer. After all, in the real world, which GT likes to emulate with its dealers, you could find a used car that that's just a few months old or less. The person just needed to get rid of their car quickly and not lose too much money. So you'll likely have cars that are too old to be sold at dealerships, that you'd only find in used car lots, and current cars, with some kms on them, for a lower price. Brighton Antiques will probably be for classic cars and, possibly, more modern classics in mint condition. That's the explanation I have for the inconsistencies.

I hope the two Ferraris are from the years 2012 and 2020, and are called like this:

Ferrari F8 Tributo '20
Ferrari F12berlinetta '12
Considering a certain IP hopper on that wiki where you posted the car's list from to this forum's master car list, I happened to know who is this new user...

Looks like we don't have a chance to have silverstone in the launch version according to the booklet, which includes the same capture of European track layouts that had been shown before.

If that’s drag racing according to PD they could as well leave it out altogether in my opinion.

This is more along the lines of what I’m talking about:

Lol, as if it's not the same thing with faster cars and electronic timing.

Don't worry, I'm sure in GT7 you'll be able to race with a big stwong car so that everyone can see how vewwy masculine you are. And the rest of us can have fun drag racing **** boxes against each other. Just because the videos I happened to post were of the Best Motoring variety of casual drag racing (you know, the sort of programs that inspired Gran Turismo in the first place) doesn't mean that that Polyphony will stop you from building a 1000hp Skyline if that's what makes you happy. But it doesn't stop being drag racing just because you're on street legal tyres and you can't do a 12 second run.

If you'd have the feature taken out of GT7 just because it will be possible to use it with "slow" cars like the ones I posted (the first video was stock R35s, hardly slow) then that just seems like gatekeeping.

You alright dude? Kinda insulting the guy for no reason.

There's a point at which I no longer feel the need to withhold my snark from someone who questions the translation of "0-4 Battle", then moans that the examples posted aren't "real drag racing" because it's not built cars on drag slicks running sub-10s and it should just be removed from the game.

It's Gran Turismo, racing terrible cars against each other is kind of half the point of the game. Don't race it if you don't want to, but saying that drag racing shouldn't be in the game if it's going to allow normal road cars to face off? Nah, that deserves some mockery.

Well that’s unfortunate As he clearly stated it was his opinion. The thing is mate, I actually agree with you and not Strittan. But we all enjoy GT for different reasons. Some people loved B spec.. but I found I relied on it to much to get easy money so I disagree. This guy obviously doesn’t enjoy the aspect of GT that you do. it doesn’t mean he deserves mockery.

It's not about who likes what. He's welcome not to like drag racing anything that isn't a prepped drag car, and he's welcome to the opinion that Polyphony shouldn't put drag racing in GT7.

What gets mockery is saying "If Polyphony considers that drag racing..." to this:

That's not personal preference, regardless of whether you tack "in my opinion" to the end of it or not. That's just gatekeeping. Taking some cars onto a straight piece of track and having a standing start dash to 400m is a drag race whether he likes it or not. Add into it the fact that it's not even people drag racing VW vans or something equally odd that might legitimately raise some eyebrows. It's R35s. A $100,000+ sports car. The real car comes stock with launch control for exactly this sort of situation.

The idea that anyone, anywhere shouldn't consider that drag racing is daft. Daft enough that I think it's worth making it very clear that the sort of car that you bring isn't what makes it drag racing.

We will probably just keep going back and forth so i’l just say this. Yes I don’t agree with his opinion. and Perhaps once seeing these comments he will change His opinion. But probably best to avoid attacking him personally. his Opinion can be daft, but my gosh, we have no idea if HE is.
anyway just an idea man. Peace

I don't think @Imari ist attacking him personally, he's correcting him. There's a big difference between correcting a person who is wrong (i.e. ignoring the definition of drag racing ("a race between two cars over a short distance, usually a quarter of a mile, as a test of acceleration.)) and attacking a person.

I can’t have an opinion? Have I offended you?

To clarify, how slow or fast a car is is not important. As a matter of fact, my favorite form of drag racing is bracket racing. If drag racing is ever gonna be in Gran Turismo, bracket racing is the way to go I think, but that means a proper drag strip with a realistic timing system is necessary, so I don’t believe it’s ever gonna happen. I love Gran Turismo for a ton of other reasons though, so it’s no big deal at all.

Correcting me? What did I get wrong? Anyway, your definition is not quite accurate.

“Drag racing is a type of motor racing in which automobiles or motorcycles (usually specially prepared for the purpose) compete, usually two at a time, to be first to cross a set finish line.
