I'm sure one race built with those liveries and weather settings and race length and car settings would take up more space than liveries.
There's an article with the millions of liveries and hasn't broke the servers. I'd sure love to see the numbers if races were added to that.
 
Hm I wouldn't know about settings, but it can't be that much. It's just settings after all.

Adding liveries is true but those are already stored in the storefront anyway so wouldn't add a lot of extra.

So I intended to do a little work on the randomiser to add a few more cars and whatnot. And then I kept having ideas, and just sort of kept going all day. Then I took about 700 versions of the same Scape.

The end result? I'm proud to present the full v1.0 release of the Gran Turismo 7 Legacy Event Randomiser!

Features include:
  • 95% event coverage for all previous games in the series (except GT2): Basically, if it's not a one-make we don't have a car for, an endurance named for a track we don't have, or a pre-Sport rally event, you can probably generate it. GT2 isn't available yet - it having changing entry requirements across the same event is a unique challenge I need to figure out the best solution for. But all of GT1, GT3-6, and GT Sport are now supported.
  • Full support for all custom race-compatible cars: It won't generate an EV or the Himedic, and it won't generate the kart outside of the one specific GT6 kart one-make. But all of the other ~485 cars are in the pool and can be selected for events they fit the criteria for.
  • Both random and specific event selection available: Want a random event from the series' history? Want to pick a very specific event? Both options are now covered. The event selection is broken up by area so you can easily find, say, GT4 regional events at a glance.
  • Faithful mode: I originally envisaged this as "what if GT7 had events from previous games?". But I realised you could also look at it as "what if previous GTs had GT7's physics engine and grid size?". For that use case, I added faithful mode, a mode where if you generate, say, the GT Sport Roadster race, it'll only use the Roadsters that were in GT Sport (in that case the NA and ND S models but not the ND NR-A). Note that this can cause events to not generate if there aren't any cars from that game to use.
  • Multiple liveries, sometimes: This is limited by my credit balance and willingness to take Scapes over and over, as well as UCD/LCD rotations, but it makes races like the GT4 Copen Race or the kart one-make look nicer when the pictures aren't monochrome.
  • A small car information page for each car: It shows the information that is used to determine eligibility, so that you can see why, for example, certain surprising cars make it into the various Compact Car Series. Also, you can click between liveries, which I find strangely fun.
I hope people find it fun!

Known issues:
  • Track maps don't show for any track that doesn't currently have a World Circuits event. Sorry about that, I just don't have a way of making them. Nurburgring 24h is a notable one, since I couldn't avoid using it as it's in GT5 and GT6.

Oh my. This is really fun!

What logic is used to select the opposing grid - just the base vehicle characteristics? The McLaren F1 might be a tough opponent for my '94 Silvia in the GT1 Japan-Anglo championship. ;) Although I understand the GT7 car list doesn't always enable the most complete or sensible grids.

Would the stock PP Data for each car be of any use? Maybe use it with +/- 10% tolerance?

Right now there's two criteria - there's mandatory criteria (like being FR for an FR challenge event) and then there's a "power level" setting to, say, keep the Sunday Cup low-speed. Right now that setting is generally horsepower and sometimes weight based instead of PP, which is a good idea I'll take on board, but the bigger issue is that I just forgot to add the power level bit for a few events, including the three GT1 inter-regionals.

So yeah, expect the F1 to not generate there after the next time I work on it, thanks for the feedback! :)

I did a few custom races on the 24h Nürburgring layout and there are always some cars constantly flashing their indicators. I'm confused, is there any meaning to this?

It’s probably intended for the tourist layout, but it carries over into other layouts in custom races. I suspect it’s a bug. Very annoying as it really affects races at the Nordschleife. I mean you can still run it but for competitiveness, you kinda have to just slow down when they do, or play by the same rules of letting some cars by.

Racing signals

Is there a "racer" signalling protocol? In Campaign, when driving Nordschleife, I've noticed when you come up behind a car, a lot of them signal towards the kerb. I take it that means they know you're there and are letting you overtake (a bit like lorries do in the UK). Now I'm grinding on La...

Well, another bug. Who would have thought?

You know, I like the game, I really do! But it's a shame that there are so many little things that don't work as they should or as one would expect.

What I wanna do is a custom race around Nordschleife at night with heavy rain. Well, can't do that 'cause although all the relevant data is in the game you can't drive Nordschleife at night.

So, 24h layout then.

Would like to use race cars but can't 'cause they would all use RH tires and slicks and heavy rain is a awful combination.

So I have to use street cars.

Then there's the interesting fact that, although the weather is set to torrential rain, random opponent selection often likes to put at least two open cars on the grid. Srsly, who would drive their Radical or Cobra or Mazda Rodster around Nordschleife in heavy rain? I like realism and this doesn't seem very realistic.

Doing more than 2 laps seems rather pointless 'cause although the difficulty is set to "professional", you're often already at P1 at the end of lap 1. (and I'm not even a very good driver!) Also, AI often crashes into you and doesn't behave very "professionally".

As I said, I like the game. But it's really hard to not see how much more potential there is and how much better the game could be if PD would care about things like this.

You’re spot on with the general assessment, couple comments that may help you work around these issues:

-AI race cars will be able to start on or switch to Inters/Wets without your having bought them. Rain on!

-Enter the race with a dummy tune to ‘set’ the AI difficulty, then flip to a less-powered tune sheet in the pre-race lobby to promote a fair fight. Depends on track, car, and driver, but I tend to live in the 92-94 power restrictor area, with slightly shortened gears to improve corner exit launch, and can battle the AI for a dozen laps without making easy progress. Longer races expose the rubberband a bit more, seems like the game wants to hand you the win after the 50% mark.

Yeah, thx! But I'm getting tired of "workarounds" tbh. I don't get why they (PD) just don't seem to care. And tbh I also don't get why so many ppl here seem to be ok with the current state of the game.

Anyway, your point about wets/inters is interesting! I always just read here that AI starts on either standard tires (for streetcars) or RH (for race cars), but I've never read anything about AI starting on wets/inters.
I will check at evening by doing a Gr3 race!

I’m sure everyone not just some are not okay with the current state of the game. We’re ll having the most fun we can have in our own ways with how the state of the game is. We can only use what we got.
There are heaps of complaints from members posted in this thread. Many posted in other threads as well.

Me, personally, I guess I choose to play more than typing my complaints.

Me too, but I'm at work, so I can't play the game now anyway😄

But hey, complaining is ok I guess. I'm trying to figure out how ppl are ticking. I always hear/read about Kaz and how GT is his big dream project, so I just can't understand how he's ok with so many things not working as intended. I mean, if I would work on my dream project I would want it to be as perfect as possible and I would feel bad if it wasn't. But maybe that's just me....I already feel bad if I do a post here and find a typo later😄
 
The Custom Race Legacy Event Generator has been updated to support PP-based matchmaking! Details below:

New content
  • The Gran Turismo 1 FR Challenge now exists! Sorry about that, I just missed it when going down my list.
  • The ability to restrict grids to exclude cars that are purchased from Legend Cars or using Invitations has been added, to make the randomiser more usable for low-credit users. Like with faithful mode, I can't guarantee there will be valid cars for every event if you turn this on.
UI changes
  • PP and racing group are now visible for each generated car, stylised like it is in-game.
  • Track maps have been added for some tracks I didn't previously have them for. There's still 7 missing. To the PD developer reading this: Blue Moon Infield B, St Croix A, Maggiore East, Autopolis and Red Bull Ring's short tracks, Tokyo East Counterclockwise and Central Counterclockwise need events please :)
  • New car colours from the last three weeks of the UCD/LCD rotation have been added (where I could afford the cars)
  • Smaller images are now used for the opposition grid, in order to speed up page load and save bandwidth.
Event generation changes
  • Events that previously used BHP limits to try and get to an appropriate power level now use PP, as suggested in this thread for better matchmaking.
    • PP values are taken from the car collection screen for each car.
    • Generally the default range for events will be 50 PP, it can be wider for events with stricter entry requirements.
    • Note that one-make events generally don't try and balance like this; you'll still see Hakosukas and Kenmeris in GT-R one-make events, for instance. I prefer the flavour that way.
    • In addition, BHP limits that are part of the event's restrictions (such as the GT4 Supercar Festival or many GT Sport events) are still followed.
  • If an event has a race at Catalunya Rallycross or any Lake Louise layout, it will now respect those tracks' grid limit of 16 cars.
  • Fixed some bad programming for the three GT1 inter-regional events, where instead of (in PP range) & (JP or UK) it was instead looking at (in PP range & JP) or (UK), leading to McLaren F1s generating when they shouldn't have.
Assuming no more issues get found, this should be it for functionality; the only further updates should be to add GT2 event support (which won't be soon) and supporting new GT7 cars/tracks as they get added via game updates (which I won't post about, unless there's something exceptional). This is awesome! Needs a bit of work on mobile, though. It's fine on landscape, but portrait is a little messy

Unfortunately we have to tune each car individually. You can add new sheets with different tunes to shorten time adjusting each car, but we can’t transfer from one car to a different car.

From experience I have found that the AI performs better using the default settings (suspension, aero) across the board on their cars. Happy to provide some screenshots of my settings to help you out if you wish

Yes that would be helpful. I guess you would just adjust bhp, weight and top speed?

Custom race idea: How to replicate

How I named it, you can select anything but I named it: Sea Fog Clearing G. Valley

Race Type: Lap
Laps: 7
Grid start position: 2nd
Nitrous: x10.0
Boost: None (to get the best Cr.)
Tire Wear and Fuel Rate: Turned OFF
Slipstream: The AI will be going so slow with the max speed minimize method
Your PP: 399.99 'ish or lower to get a lot of bonuses.
AI Car: Highest performance possible, at 900.00 PP or more
Weather Method: Custom
Weather Pattern: C04, C01, S01, S15, S15 (It gets gradually brighter as the race goes on, kind of light a Sea Fog clearing.)
Time Lapse: x12
Time of Day to Start at: Sunrise
Difficulty: Professional
Grip Reduction Off Track: Up to you

Circuit Experience Bonus % suggested: 287% or more.

The method to limit max speed of the AI car to a crawl is a must otherwise you won't be able to compete.

Your Car: Anything that can go 399.99' ish or lower.
AI Car: Anything 900.00 PP or more, but 900.00 PP to 999.99 is where the benefits seem to almost maximize.

Rules: All OFF except for Correct Wall Collisions, but really the latter is up to you.

If everything is correct, you should be able to get 121,500 Cr. or more as a Base Prize, watch out for the AI as they will be driving very slow and you could accidentally bump into them at an unexpected moment.

Last and not least, IMO, the music. I selected Soft Rock Drive from Spotify which plays 70's Soft Rock classics to create a feel good ambience that plays good ol' Dad Soft Rock.

I wanted to drive Gr3 on the nice Tokyo layout since it's a really fun track to drive in these cars but didn't think too much about how long the lap was so did 200, or 903 miles 😳

The McLaren put up a really good fight all race but had to pit for a splash of fuel on the final lap. It's annoying because the AI can be really good when it's not artificially dumb (catch-up can't be turned off but sometimes they're 10s a lap faster, sometimes slower. Blue flags are off but they'll refuse to overtake and do everything to let you pass, etc).

Race Settings:
1x Tyre/Fuel (I used RH and it looks like all the AI did too)
BoP off
Refueling at the slowest option to try and balance the faster/slower cars without slowing them down
Heavy damage (just to mix things up for the AI stints, the pit lane is short so didn't cost them a lot of time
Random weather but it stayed dry the whole time, a wet stint would've been good for variety

I appreciate the 1995 GT1 field much more than the 1999 GTs one, much more varied!
