Gran Turismo 7 "February" 2025 Update Prediction & Discussion Thread

Judging by "car posts on Twitter" theory, we are definitely not getting an update in February, they didn't even start posting them yet. That is unless they suddenly start posting one every day now.

The A220 is maybe the one car in the game I'd love to get the behind-the-scenes look into how PD got it into the game.

It's a cool car, but it's also so incredibly different to the other historic race car content (basically "win your class at Le Mans, win the Pebble Beach award or you probably aren't getting in"). I'd really like to know how that process worked and how they came to choose it.

As to how it was chosen, I'm curious too. We know from the story of the Tank Car that there's precedent for PD employees doing unplanned car scans while out on assignment and seeing something interesting in the same garage.

I did a bit more digging into that particular chassis and found this thorough article from when it was for sale, which confirmed it was Vinatier at the wheel in all of this car's successes. It turns out too that while it may not have a Pebble Beach GT Award, it is a concours queen with other wins and, of course, Wouter Melissen has photographed it multiple times.

I'm guessing someone saw it while looking for Gran Turismo candidates at Retromobile and it worked its way to the top of an 11-year backlog of cars to model by luck.

I don't see a reason to tie your expectations of when the update will drop to an account that isn't even run by Polyphony.

Fair point, however, so far it has been a perfect indication. Even when the update doesn't follow a "regular" pattern of releasing at the end of the month, they still give us those posts right before the update, so it's not just a coincidence. Sure it might stop being the case at some point, it's not like those posts and a next update depend on each other, posts don't have to appear for the update to be released. But the pattern is still pretty clear and even if the account is not run by Polyphony themselves, the person behind it definitely has some knowledge about the release date of the next update. So I believe it is a good reason to base my expectations on that.

I don't think February updates in previous years is an indication of anything, they can easily skip a month which they haven't skipped last year. And since GT7's birthday is in March, maybe that's exactly when the next update drops. 1 month before the world tour series behind will also be in March. It doesn't have to be the end of March, it can be March 6th, for example.

I know people like spotting patterns in things that happened once around here, but in this case there really has been a pattern.
We got images of the last update's cars on the socials in the week leading up to the next update's announcement.

the January posts date from 21,23,24 kaz's tweet may arrive the day before the update so in 1 week!! It's not too late!! which is true, however, these tweets are consistent with the 4 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. schedule in my region!!

We're running out of February at this point. Remember February only has 28 days. So if an update is not teased this weekend (to be released on the following Thursday next week), we're looking at a potential March 27th Update. (or beyond)

and I'm well aware that the best we can do sometimes is replicas, but outside of sometimes doing it in Photo Mode, I just have no interest in them.

With that said, the original post wasn't a wishlist, that's literally just a speculation. So I don't know why you brought it up.

Now on the topic at hand, I'm going to say the new update would be next week as it will be the last week of February. The previous update was released on January's last week. There's also a lot of GT7 updates that would release on the final week of a month, so that's my logic. I honestly find it odd people would expect an update sooner than that tbh.

Oh I know. But that date is very pleasing being a Thursday closest to its 3rd birthday. I suppose just as likely as a Tuesday update (which would actually be the 3rd birthday)

You laugh, but I just started a new game in GT6 for the first time in a long time and was looking through trying to pick a first (second, but whatever) car and the Primera/G20 was one. I would really like them to add it (I know you would too.) And also want one in real life.

A negative thought I've had the last few days: Realizing people act like them announcing a new track will make any real meaningful difference in the game. After messing with GT6 and looking at some of the cars and tracks.. They need to add a lot more cars/tracks to GT7/8 to make a real dent. And I'm not sure we'll ever get there honestly. Seems like they don't want to sell car/track packs, therefore they aren't making enough good money to vastly expand their production process and don't have real data on how worth while it would be to do

Additional anecdotal observation: The games I'm interested in/play are getting decent updates or coming out in the next few weeks. Bigger updates than usual. Let's hope GT7 is one of them.

The only PS Plus requirements are for online multiplayer, and that's not a choice that the developer can make.

Additionally, this is a Prediction thread not a Wishlist thread. The first post is very clear on this point.
