There's a discussion about lighting in the undocumented thread. Tagging @Nuschel01 @05XR8 @MonoTonouS and @A_Higher_Place because I think I know what you guys are talking about. I have a few pics to show, but since that's the undocumented thread I think it's better to post on this one, hope you all dont mind :P

There's quite a lot of pics and I don't know if this much is allowed in a single post, but here we go anyway!

Look bottom right. No lights at all in that car

Only 1 AI headlight is working in this pic

Like Nuschel said, our headlights always layers over AI headlights

Those pics are from a few months ago. Today I did a custom race in Nurbugring to get a few more shots.

This is 1st place. Completely alone

Except he isn't alone at all! This is 2nd place perspective

View from 3rd place. You can see light on the Alfa, but now you can't see any lighting on the BMW

Here's another example. This one seems to be working as it should be, right?

Trying to overtake the Scirocco. From my view, I can't see any lights on the cars ahead
Gran Turismo® 7_20230601151847.png

This is not the case when taking the perspective of the Scirocco. My lights are visible on the back of this car, just like with the Megane from 4th pic, which is completely opposite from the first 3 pics

I honestly have no idea if this is a bug, rendering issue, working as intended™... Looking at that Scirocco, would I be correct if I say this could be a car specific bug? Well, I guess I should try a race with only Sciroccos to be sure.

This is annyoing when doing the Spa 1-hour event. Sometimes there's a car in front of me and the view gets completely blocked. It's like they're running without any lights at all

To add from one of my posts about headlights on during replays. You mention a good point about car specific. Well, I’m having all cast cast headlight beams in my mock Rolex grand Am Sports Car grid. When I ran my Group A grid, it was about every 3rd or 4th car cast the headlight beam and others didn’t. It’s been like that since the start.

Maybe the all cars headlight Beam render applies when Prototypes are Added to the races? I seriously don’t know. I mean, why have the seemingly production based cars not render all headlight beams?

To take it back even further, In Forza 5 or 6, the night time racing of cars casting shadows on circuit barriers, was brought up. I can’t recall if that game had the same headlight render concerns. To see if T10 had a similar issue.

Now, I’ve got all cars with headlight beams in my Group A grid. Plus, no overshadowing.

Given that their own previous ways of celebrating their own anniversary was either Pre-Order bonuses or some ok-ish events, its always a foolish idea for anyone to expect PD do remotely ANYTHING massive to celebrate any motorsports events. PD will always operate in their own bubble no matter how new the console is or whatever next latest thing Sony has them pushing so do not expect anything other then:

  • A game
  • Regular updates
  • Adding new cars

"But they said" Guess what? They've said alot, didn't exactly pan out did it? Don't expect anything Other then those 3 things.

New tracks, new mechanics, tournaments and hopefully Sophy.

It's not like I'm super positieve about the drop feeding but to state that PD only lushing2the game some cars and regular updates is just not the negativity anyone can use. It's tiring tbh.

They don't care about anything related to anniversaries or real events.
This isn't true at all.
Tons of real world events come tied alongside something in Sport Mode - in the past few weeks alone we've had the Nürburgring 24h represented through a race and a time trial, the Autopolis SF23 round represented through a time trial (they did a race for Fuji as well) and we have the Le Mans TT to match the 24h, as well as a Gr.1 race for the Toyota Gazoo Cup this coming weekend.

Whether or not you think they are 'suitable' representations or not is up to you - but to say they don't care about them is false considering how often they mimic them for online events.

Tracks are increasingly rare so its almost not worth expecting one at all with how often they come out

Except I am not being negative, I am being realistic (There is an actual difference). You have people who somehow want or expect PD to do a big celebratory thing for Motorsports events when they hardly do As I've witnessed for years. At most, you'll either have a time Trial or a Daily Race that kinda/sorta acknowledges a race event but that's it. Again, my point is for people to stop expecting so much. As someone who played PD'S games for years, I can say with confidence that you are setting yourself up for disappointment the more you expect from them.

I know you're talking about special occasions but you come of as PD doesn't care about updates. Which I disagree with

I don't expect anything Le Mans though.

3 new track in one year. So 1 every 4 months. Let’s see what happen in june/july. It could be the good month especially because at the end of june there is the pikes peak event. Ehehe

They're hardly pushing the boat out with updates though. You get the odd good, and a lot of "meh". The cars are nice, the new tracks as and when they come along are great, but the game is crying out for a career overhaul. Something they can quite easilly do, but won't.

It's not that they don't care about updates, they clearly do, however their vision and plan for updates doesn't involve improving the grind or economy. Granted, that impacts some players more than others, but it's still a big issue with game.

It's taken over a year to make the special parts and engine swaps buyable, something that always should be the case. While that's a good update, it's hardly good of PD to provide it over a year after release. Probably the most substatial update is the PSVR2 one, but I've not had the pleasure of trying that myself and it'smore niche in that it will only affect a smaller number of players.

And I'm not saying they don't care, again being realistic vs being Negative (AKA, slagging and bashing PD into oblivion no matter what they do, saying Kaz is "Washed up and needs to be removed" and bonus points for typing in all caps and declaring "I quit" in a thread because that was totally worth an announcement..only to then return at a later time with more of the same noise).

I am simply saying people need to temper their expectations because from my experience, rarely do PD do anything THAT big ever. Nowhere am I saying they don't care about updates, just that they operate in a way that's simply like nobody else (at least, none that I know) and its pretty much an established pattern with very few exceptions. Anytime I make predictions for instance, its based on patterns I've observed from how they operate.

Example: I predict that if we indeed have the return of Apricot Hill and Midfield Raceway, They at best will be lightly touched versions of what we got in GT6 based on how we've received High Speed Ring (As opposed to the massive changes to Trial Mountain and Deep Forest).

I wonder if PD will celebrate the Le Mans centenary with the June update. Perhaps a visual refresh for the track and some Hypercars?

View attachment 1261691
If they add the Bugatti Circuit, an old version of Circuit de la Sarthe, some Hypercars and a Gr1 endurance race I'll cry out of joy

But they'll probably add nothing at all, knowing PD as I know

From data mining info we'll probably have Red Rock Valley at some point, but nothing was found about Apricot Hill or Midfield Raceway

Does anyone know why I have a red dot on the world circuits? I’ve opened every track and cycled through every event but it won’t go away.

Circuit experience for the new tracks/layouts

Cycle through the circuit experience and it should go away
