Clearing my PS4 saved data again. Only Minecraft will remain for my daughter. Going to spend these four weeks having quality time with the fam. Come March 4, they won't see me again.
Are you going to be in your man cave with a sign on the door do not disturb 😂

I very much have mixed feelings over this one. My hopes were very high, my expectations were above what we've had in any previous GT but well below my hopes and it was kind of a mixed bag for me. I'm definitely waiting for reviews and opinions I repsect on this one. If they don't convince me then maybe I'll buy it when it's on offer like GT Sport.

The content I'm fine with, I'd like some completley new tracks, but at the same time I feel the returning old tracks have been gone for long enough it'll be nice to experience those again and they've been changed to varying degrees so we'll have to see how different they feel. But a couple of completley new tracks would have been nice.

The car list is fine, there's a lot to like there, some omissions as there always is in any game, but also some cars I wasn't expecting but am happy to see.

It's good that the game will continue to be supported with new cars and tracks post launch like GT Sport was and hopefully they'll keep that up for a couple of years like they did with Sport.

The tuning and customisation options appear to be improved on what we've had before, the wideboy option is welcome, interesting hint at engine swaps with that tuned Beetle too.

The time and weather is fine, I'd have preferred 24hr cycles on all tracks, but to be fair, that won't make a huge difference from what we're getting. So I can quite happily take what we're getting on that front.

Music Replay I probably won't use too often but the Music Rally seems like it could be a fun casual mode for when you don't want to race. Unsure how much I'll use it, it may have limited longevity but it being there as an option is a positive for now.

So far so good, now onto the things I'm unsure about/not liking from what I saw.

There's still no sign of notably improved AI, there are hints it's been improved but yet be convinved it's been done so in a notable way. So unsure on that one.

The career mode, what's going on? I was hoping to see a more detailed breakdown of how the career mode works. After what we saw I'm confused, are there no championships? Is there no events list? Have they brought qualifying back? Are the events tied into licenses? Will we open up new events as we complete previous events or licenses or both? There are driver levels and collector levels and stuff, does this tie into anything or is it just a fluff number to make you feel good about hitting a certain level? To find an event do you have to go to a track that hosts that event or is there another way? Having to go to the track could make finding events laborious IMO. So I'm honestly unsure what to expect here. I'd like to see some unbroken footage of someone going through the events to try to get some better grasp of how it's set up. That's left me confused the most, it could be fine, but I'm unsure from what we saw.

No PS4 footage, I totally understand why they are showcasing the best setup they can, but I'd have liked to have seen some PS4 footage. As someone who hasn't pulled the trigger on a PS5 yet (I might have if GT7 were PS5 exclusive) the odds are I could pick this up for the PS4 and upgrade to a PS5 version later down the line. But I'd like the assurance the PS4 version is stable and barring things like graphics and loading times, matches the PS5 version in other important ways.

The mile long single file race starts. Why? Just why? The single worst design decision made since GT4 (though with 6 car grids in GT4 it was less of a problem). This just baffles me, and games like GT5 and GT6 have the options for standing and rolling grid starts built into them. Polyphony just choose to use single file line starts instead. As far as dumb decisions go, that's a very dumb one.

Physics, we got info about how the physics are being felt in the dualsense controller but not really much about how they've improved. Feedback from people, and whatever, but I didn't see anything that made me think, yes I can see the improvement there. That's not to say it hasn't improved, so this is another unsure of category for me. I'm sure it is improved in some ways, but GT Sports was completely backwards with some aspects (literally so), so it needs more of an overhaul than simple tweaking IMO.

So, right now I'm on the fence, it's not a defnite buy, I'm certainly not pre-ordering it yet, but there's enough I saw that I liked I might buy it early based on what I hear and see post release. If I don't like what I see enough then, well I am a GT fan so I'll probably still pick it up at some point but maybe not for full price.

PDI are now around 300 staff which is good to hear. They also have a studio in UK and Germany. AI is constantly progressing and will do with game updates in the coming months. They are more human like in nature so some AI will make mistakes and be aggressive.
Wow this is one of the better previews so far.

i highlight some of the thing that is relevant to me,
Kazunori Yamauchi: The time cycle, from morning to evening, will be available on all circuits, but the transition from night to early morning will only be available on some emblematic tracks (Le Mans, Spa...). On the weather side, the possibility of opting for a radiant or threatening sky will be available on all circuits, but the driving rain will be limited to certain tracks only. The challenge for us was to work on physics that will be directly affected by the weather. Transcribing the temperature of the asphalt, the fact that it is dry or wet was a real challenge for us.
While the rain weather part makes sense because some tracks are in the desert and dirt tracks are i imagine more difficult when it comes to rain simulation, i dont understand why they just dont provide 24h cycle to all tracks? It definitely isnt because the PS5 couldnt handle it because nordschleife is the biggest and probably most demanding performance wise track have all this feature.
Kazunori Yamauchi: We have studios in North America, Europe (Germany and the UNITED Kingdom) and Japan, and the sounds of the cars were recorded directly from a process that allows us to very faithfully capture each vocalization of the different engines, for perfect fidelity.
Sounds like they abandoned the procuderal generated sound, i remember there was an interview back before GTS was released that they use a program to simulate car sound instead of just recording them. Maybe im misremembering things.
Kazunori Yamauchi: It's common to all developers who work on PS5, but it comes from the SSD and very fast loads. This is not only about loading times, but also about many other calculations, which are extremely fast on PS5, and greatly facilitate gaming comfort as a whole
Many other calulations? wait is GT7 going to have better physics on PS5 than PS4? that doesnt make sense considering theyre Crossplay, or is this just another PR speak?
Kazunori Yamauchi: Yes, Gran Turismo 7 is equivalent to Gran Turismo Sport in terms of online game modes, and it also offers a split-screen two-player mode.
Well thats a bit dissapointing, does this means there wont be multi-class racing or even Dynamic weather and ToD in Sport mode then? i hope not.

These are the two main question marks still left for me, and I posted a similar thought about the career mode a couple of pages back.

If you can only access races through the track selection, I agree this could be tedious, especially if you don't know what tracks host races that are suitable for the cars and/or licenses you current have available.

If single file rolling starts are fixed on all career mode races, it's definitely an odd decision. Saying that, the start of the trailer that was used for the SoP announcement showed a standing start, although I suppose that could have been from a custom arcade or multiplayer race. Single file rolling starts might make sense on certain 'mission races' though, for example, starting at the back in the latest Porsche 911 and having to try and overtake past generations within a lap? I don't think this was necessarily the setup shown, however.

I don't understand why many are assuming the last remaining location is Colorado. It can be seen in the screens that there are 9 locations in Asia/Oceania, 10 locations in Americas, and 15 locations in Europe. We already know all locations, except one in Europe, so the last location has to be there. @Famine has already mention this as well.

Colored are "new" tracks, not in GT Sport.

So we are down one location and 4 layouts. I'm curious to find out what it is, and I doubt that Sardegna road and rally are seperate locations, as both are Sardegna. Time will tell! :)

When the video introduces Scapes, the disclaimer at the bottom reads that location will be in future DLC. We’re in for a big treat, if DLC are anything like GT Sport Year 1.

It seems that this scape is also a 3D space, or at least it has depth planes that allow a parallax effect. It's more like the animated backgrounds of the cars in brand central than a typical scape.

The presentation itself was a little low energy but I was still impressed by what I saw. The physics model especially seems to have gotten some nice improvements.

I'm sort of hoping for the return of A-Spec points. The toughest challenge in GT4 was to achieve the maximum score by winning in an extremely underpowered car in every single GT Mode race. I'm saying sort of because the mere idea of beating a full grid of AI opponents in an underpowered car would only be feasible if the AI turned out to be as poor as some people seem to have observed. So I'm really torn on this.

If the AI really ends up being a disappointment, then it would be a nice addition to the game. Though that's hardly a desirable prospect...

Im not a creator of this video ;d Happy they improved infamous far view on High Speed Ring.
1. "Im not a creator of this video ;d"

I know, I just can't listen to that. :D

2. "Happy they improved infamous far view on High Speed Ring."

Very good improvement.👏🏼

But still no drift contest, we are waiting for more than 10 years 🤨
What do you mean with drift contest? Its a judged sport so I dont see how they can improve other than giving us more customization for our cars.

There will be endurance races in GT7 ? 2h, 4h, 24h ?
I assume given the tracks that host 24hr races have full 24hr cycles, I’d say it’s a very strong possibility. Just hope it’s not the “24mins of LeMans” we had previously

Seeing as Greddy, Eckert's, and CHC are now listed as seperate manufacturers, would that mean that GT Awards (SEMA) is scrapped from being a "manufacturer"?
I don't remember that being the case in GTS
Also, any word about what model is the Autobianchi that has been added?

Silverstone lines up 😳

Please?

Sorry I'm unable to read everything, you probably adressed that, but the rain conditions rendering is awful. I think Project Cars 1 was better at this, not to mention Drive Club.

No sign of water drops on the windshield nor windows, absolutely perfect vision in the mirrors, very low quality of the water spray behind the cars, this is a visual nightmare. The PS5 will be able to display this 8K 120fps without any issue, or it is busy simulationg the moves of the clouds in the radar?

In the part under rain with the BAC Mono I spoted 1 drop of water moving to the left of the mini windshield.

Do we all agree it's atrocious? OR are they still showing very very early footage of the game at this stage (without mentioning it)?

I was actually surprised by the rest of the presentation by the way, I will get it day one, no issue on that. But this...

I hope we can stop the wipers somehow, because they are just visual pollution at this stage.

What track is it in the state of play video at 13.22? It’s right after Spa and before Nurburgring. Can’t seem to determine what track it is.

And what I really want to know is how the driver’s hands behave while using a controller. I hope it looks more alive than it did in GTSport.

Err, the windscreens definitely have raindrops on them, it's in numerous video clips.

Now, do they have the volume, etc. of other titles? In my view no, but they certainly are present.

Here on the Mono's aeroscreen

And here as well

There has always been an assignable button for wiper activation since GT5

Sardegna has two dots. Why else would it do that if it wasn't counting them as two? The dots add up to 34 with 15 dots in Europe and Sardegna is specifically listed at the highest level as the Road Track. If the rally and road tracks were just counted as layouts of Sardegna, it would just say Sardegna. The other dot is not yet marked.

They even updated the logos.

Sorry to say it but we already know all the locations for GT7, albeit it seems not all the layouts.
