Err, the windscreens definitely have raindrops on them, it's in numerous video clips.

Now, do they have the volume, etc. of other titles? In my view no, but they certainly are present.

Here on the Mono's aeroscreen

And here as well
In the GR86 footage shown yesterday, barely nothing happens on the windshield. It's odd as indeed they are some static drops on the Bac Mono.

I think that's just down to the build they used in that section, as raindrops are visible on the screen in this section and do clear with the wipers as well.

It' still arguable as to the amount, etc being right and in my view other titles do it better, but they are certainly present.

Sardegna has two dots. Why else would it do that if it wasn't counting them as two? The dots add up to 34 with 15 dots in Europe and Sardegna is specifically listed at the highest level as the Road Track. If the rally and road tracks were just counted as layouts of Sardegna, it would just say Sardegna. The other dot is not yet marked.

They even updated the logos.

Sorry to say it but we already know all the locations for GT7, albeit it seems not all the layouts.
Yeah guess you're most likely right, unfortunately 😅. If so, then that accounts for the last location and 2 layouts (I & II). Curious to find out about what the other 2 unknown layouts are.

Could be anything really, but extra fantasy track layouts seems the most likely to me. Maybe we really are getting the original Trial Mountain and Deep Forest layouts? One can hope...

For those who don't remember, or never played it, Drive Club on PS4, 8 years ago looked like this (4:30 mark)

The water flowing on the screen as you're turning left or right, the wipers doing their work, that was simply amazing, so rewarding, so much fun, so difficult. Not to mention the reflections on the road. That's what I would have liked to experience in GT7, in 4k 60fps...

Don't know if this has been noted yet, but looking at the rightmost column, it seems that steering angle modification has been added. Plus the possibilty of modifying/adding 4WS to cars...?
Also, what does "side brake torque %" mean?

DC's weather remains unmatched. But bare in mind this ran at 30 fps and the resolution wasn't that high.

A brief summery of my thoughts:
  1. The game looks great as someone would expect.
  2. The presentation is the best in the series.
  3. The career mode seems like the standard GT affair.
  4. It will be very intresting to see how they handle the economy/progression.
  5. Custom grids in custom races is a game changer.
  6. The weather radar is really intresting, but im disapointed because they didn't fix my biggest issues with the HUD.
  7. The customization is on another level.
  8. I was a bit disapointed about the GT Auto animations.
  9. In turms of new features GT Cafe is intresting and Music rally is what it is.
I will reserve judgement on everything else until next month, but please stop saying that the cars sound great because they don't. And thats a fact.

Each course also has a place called a meeting place with a casual lobby where you can interact with other players.

And the element of attention newly added from this work is Cafe mode. Here, you can receive a menu book, and by clearing more than 30 types of quests written there, you can gradually experience and understand the various functions of "GT7". So to speak, it is the road target of "GT7". Every time you clear the menu book, you can hear the culture and background of the car related to the menu book, and it seems that car developers may appear.

One of the purposes is to collect the listed cars. As with License, can I get some rewards by clearing the menu book? By clearing all the quests listed in this menu book, you will be able to clear the campaign mode. Of course, it goes without saying that clearing the campaign mode in "GT7" is only the beginning of a long car life ...!

"GT7" contains 300 songs by more than 75 artists, which is the highest ever. The genres are also diverse, such as classical, jazz, hip-hop, electro, and lounge music, and they will excite the player's mood in various scenes.

"GT" series producer, Kazunori Yamauchi's Q & A session

Finally, we will deliver a summary of the questions and answers to Mr. Kazunori Yamauchi, the creator of the "GT" series, which was held by gathering media from all over the world.

"GT" Series Producer / President of Polyphony Digital

――The "GT" series has been showing a sense of immersiveness from the beginning of the series. What did you focus on in "GT7" to get a sense of immersiveness?
Yamauchi : To get a sense of immersion, how close you are to the "real" that we usually feel. "GT7" uses the quality of graphics such as ray tracing in the direction of enhancing reality. Also, when it comes to sound, we focused on recording better sounds in a straightforward manner. Furthermore, using the PS5 device, the "region between sound and vibration" is expressed based on chitin and simulation. I think that the accumulation of such small things contributes to the immersive feeling of "GT7".

――How are the sounds of more than 400 cars recorded?
Yamauchi We have sound recording studios (anechoic chambers) in North America, Germany, and the United Kingdom since the development of " Gran Turismo SPORT ", and we recorded one by one there. It was a lot of work to bring in all the cars.

-It is a system of used car dealers, but will cars appear randomly like the series works so far, and will the player be able to choose a car from among them?
Yamauchi The lineup of used car dealers changes little by little every day.

――The time and weather change system was introduced in a limited way in the "GT" series so far, but what kind of form is it introduced in "GT7"?
Yamauchi First of all, the change over time, but the change from morning to night is in every course. However, the change from night to morning is only used in some courses. For example, it's a place where 24-hour races are held, such as the Nürburgring. Also, regarding the change in weather, the change from sunny to cloudy can be experienced on all courses, but it is limited on the course where it rains. The biggest challenge with time and weather changes this time is not just visual changes, but digital physics simulations. In addition, the time and weather changes will interact with the car running on the course. For example, factors such as lower road surface temperature, rain, and wind are physically calculated and are involved in driving.

――It is said that "GT7" has Kodawari in the starry sky and faithfully reproduces the starry sky seen from the place where the course is located, but how do you collect the data and how do you reproduce it? Is it?
Yamauchi Basically, using the data released by NASA, we perform academic simulations based on astronomy to render the positions of the stars and the sun. In a normal night race, only bright stars are available, but if you slow down the shutter speed in photo mode, you can shoot dark stars and even the Milky Way.

――Is "GT7" recorded with many general cars?
Yamauchi : We have prepared a wide range of cars, but I don't think they are enough. For example, I think it is necessary to increase the number of entry-level cars. In addition, full-scale tuning is possible with "GT7". In the video that everyone in the media watched, the Volkswagen Beetle is as fast as the Porsche 911, but since it is possible, I think that it will be possible to race with a fairly wide range of cars. This time, we have recorded an element called performance points that reflects the results of the simulation, but it is no exaggeration to say that the mechanism is included to race all at once with a wide range of cars. Some cars are fast from the beginning, while others are tuned faster. They can be used as guidelines for racing.

――The tuning elements have become complicated, but can you share the setting data with other players using Showcase etc.?
Yamauchi : It is not possible to share the setting data itself with Showcase, but the design is taken into consideration so that it can be shared by taking a few screenshots on the setting screen. There are several reasons why setting data cannot be easily shared, but there are many different tuning parts and aero parts for each car. When applying certain setting data to different cars, inconsistencies occur in various parts, so I decided not to do it this time.

-Is it okay to think that the multiplayer part is at the same level as " Gran Turismo SPORT "?
Yamauchi Online Multiplayer is almost the same as "Gran Turismo SPORT".

――How did AI evolve in " GT7 "?
Yamauchi : I think AI is a part that is required to evolve forever. Compared to "Gran Turismo SPORT", it is more aggressive and can run closer to the lap time set by humans. In addition, it is possible to act more accurately in complicated situations. There are various requirements such as competing with the player and not making the player feel uncomfortable, but we are evolving those parts. However, I don't think the status quo is perfect.

――I heard that you can't play "GT7" unless you go online. What is the reason?
Yamauchi One reason is that there are many elements in the entire game system that can only be done online, such as Showcase and online multiplayer. Also, when considering cheating measures for save data, there is a part that cheating cannot be prevented unless the save data is saved online. There are two major ones.

--About the difficulty setting. I understand that the design is friendly to beginners, but what are the considerations for hardcore users?
Yamauchi In "GT7", you can choose from three difficulty levels: beginner, intermediate, and advanced when you start the game. The initial setting is intermediate, but it may be a little unsatisfactory for those who have played the "GT" series so far. I hope that those people will choose the advanced level.

――How important is the rally in "GT7"?
Yamauchi Dirt Course is prepared in advance. I haven't entered the snow road yet, but I think it will probably be added in an update.

――There is an element called a meeting place, but can you access it from anywhere in the world?
Yamauchi Meeting Place is like having a circuit cafe on each course. It's always a vacant online lobby where you can chat and run the course with the people you were there at the time.

――I would like to know a little more about how to use Dual Sense. For example, does the dual sense speaker make an engine sound?
Yamauchi Dual Sense does not use much frequency at the level of sound, and uses a lot of vibration before it becomes sound, not sound. Therefore, there is basically no sound from dual sense speakers.

――What is the most important feature of "GT7" on PS5?
Yamauchi : I think the creators of all PS5 titles say the same thing, but it's still fast to load. Especially in racing games, you can't start a race unless you read all the huge data of the world at once. If you do it on PS5, it will be completed in a few seconds, but if you do it on PS4, it will take longer, so the difference is huge as a play experience.

――Music was an important factor in the "GT" series, but this time I think you are focusing on music in particular. The reason is?
Yamauchi : I've always wanted to integrate the important piece of music into "GT" in a different way. For the past five years or so, several staff members have been gathering in the Polyphony Digital sound room on a daily basis to play musical instruments. Under such circumstances, ideas such as Music Replay came out, and I incorporated them into "GT7", but it took five years.

――How is the Music Rally mode of "GT7" different from the checkpoint race like in other games? Although the purpose is not to run fast, I have to run fast in order to run as long as possible, so I feel that it is in conflict ...?
Yamauchi Music Rally's main purpose is to let you enjoy the music itself. Second, I wanted to make it something that children who play "GT" for the first time and who have never played racing games can enjoy playing. And in Music Rally, it is not the time that is added when passing through the extend gate, but the beat that you have. A song with a fast BPM (pitch) consumes a lot of beats, and a song with a slow BPM consumes less beats. Also, if the BPM changes in the middle of the song, the beat consumption will change accordingly. In this way, Music Rally is all about music. So the reason for displaying reach in this mode is that it was expected that those with good skills would want to compete in Music Rally as well. You can see the reach in the friend ranking so that they can enjoy it. Also, for a good player, I think it will leave a beat. In such a case, you can enjoy playing such as "Let's drift here for a moment". Then you can play the video in Music Replay. I think this is just the fun of Music Rally.

――How does cafe, which is one of the unique modes of this work, help the campaign mode?
Yamauchi : If you understand the various systems of "GT7", you can find a way to play and enjoy it for many years. However, the system of "GT7" is too huge and complicated. Therefore, Cafe is prepared as a guide to promote understanding of the system. Getting a menu book at Café will point you to your next goal, but it's not that difficult. By clearing those goals in order, you will be able to understand what you can do in the world of "GT7". You can also hear from the Cafe master about the cars that the players have collected. In addition, the designers and engineers of the car you get may appear at Cafe and talk about the car. The reason for this is that I wanted children to have the experience of hearing stories about cars from people. I've been able to read the explanation of the car so far, but I wanted to make it feel like "someone can talk to me directly". Being able to hear the stories of people involved in a car is also an important element of car culture, and I think it will be important for the future of GT.

――I think "GT7" is as important as racing in the culture of cars, but is it such a work among Mr. Yamauchi?
Yamauchi : I want to convey wonderful things to the younger generation. I love cars. I have met many people involved in the automobile industry, including racing drivers, and I strongly feel that we must carry on this history.

--The younger generation is losing interest in car culture. What do you want to plant in their hearts?
Yamauchi : The car is a wonderful existence. I feel that cars have a certain kind of vitality among the industrial products produced by humankind, and I think that has not changed. I want to be a good opportunity to convey that to the younger generation.

--Mr. Yamauchi said, "Cars are a reflection of the world." How do you think "GT7" reflects modern car culture?
Yamauchi : I've been making the "GT" series for a long time, and I've met a lot of wonderful people involved in automobiles. Their feelings. There is one thing I want to convey through the game. In addition, cars and human society have always had a close relationship. What I think about dealing with such cars is that we want players to be happier through the cars from the "GT" series. I would like to have such a positive impact on society.

――The "GT" series, which you have traveled for 25 years, was the moment when Mr. Yamauchi was most impressed during the 25 years?
Yamauchi : For each title, something was born one day, and I had the experience of changing the world. The night of the day when something like that was born and found is always a very happy moment.

--Mr. Yamauchi, when did you feel the most accomplishment in 25 years?
Yamauchi : When "GT" was born 25 years ago, it was an extremely experimental title, and I never felt that "GT" would become a popular title. The feeling that it's an experimental title hasn't changed much, but there are still players who support GT, the media, and above all, keep making GT for 25 years. There was a staff like a family. I am most grateful for that luck.

For a laugh, I kind of hope the hard AI are just rocketships that lap quicker than the fastest players. That’d be a funny shock to the system.

But all jokes aside, I really hope hard AI actually pose a challenge to experienced racing game fans and isn’t just a few tenths or a second quicker. They need to be multiple seconds faster. Not long ‘till we find out.

It’s crazy how things change.. I went from never understand why you guys loved race cars to telling my wife Kaz better give us all the new GT3/GT4 updated cars! Obviously she ignored me, but I’m saying please Kaz update the Gr.3/4 machines!!

Even with the GT series so far, it was possible to change the difficulty level of AI in arcade mode etc., but even if I set it to the most difficult one, it was completely unsatisfactory for me.
The great news is that you can change the difficulty of the career mode, but it doesn't seem to make much sense unless the AI revolutionizes it.

Imagine with custom grids, you can set cars to go at a specific time - in other words like the Driving Missions of Gran Turismo 4 but being able to make your own for Gran Turismo 7 - that would be the ultimate game changer.
I said something like this in another thread how it would be cool if we could really customize these races, we got to see how deep PD let’s us take it let’s hope for the best!

yep

Instead of having to catch the rabbit, we now get to catch the hare. Exciting stuff.

In all seriousness, that does seem to make the career mode worth doing. It won't be great but it won't be as depressing as before either.
