Hi All, just curious where the Gr.2 and Gr.1 races are in GT7. I've completed the Cafe and unlocked all tracks but none seem to have events higher than GR.3. I've yet to purchase a Gr.2 or GR.1 cars because I don't see any events for them. Do I need to own a Gr.1 or 2 car before the events become visible?
There are none, yet.

The timing of the sunrise behind you just as you hit the straight on the Nurburging during the last race of the World GT Championship is a masterful piece of game design.

I actually got a little emotional.

I absolutely loathe the drift mission in like the wind. Just completely unfun and seemingly impossible to get gold in, barely made silver . About to just pack it all in. And Sarah positive reinforcement is actually just making it worse by making me want to throw my controller through the screen
I like drifting but it was hard even for me
I did with gamepad on third person cam, you must reach on first turn 3000 and second turn 4500 points

That's what I was afraid of. Seems like an odd omission out of the gate.
There seem to be more things lacking than just Gr1 and Gr2. There seem to be no events for the Red Bull cars either, the Formula. Also nothing for electric cars, midship cars, boxer engine cars like in previous games.

I also really miss some events with more refined restrictions. IMO once you complete the last menu book and see the credits roll, from that point on all existing single races and championships should have better restrictions. For example:

The Sunday Cup Classic is a race with the only restriction being a Road Car. There is a suggested PP of 350. Well, add another restriction that your car needs to be from 1979 or older.
Similar for the American FR Challenge 550. That race is clearly ment for older muscle cars if you look at the AI drivers but there is no restriction for that. Add to the restrictions that your car needs to be younger than 1960 and older than 1979 or something.

I really miss those events from previous GT titles where I look at my filtered garage and I only have a dozen cars to pick from, instead of more than half my garage.

Anyone else lost connection and now the game won't boot at all?

Got an error code E2-CE210610.

"Unable to proceed. An error occurred while connecting to PlayStation Network."

Followed by "You cannot save because the network is currently unavailable."
I am also in trouble with this problem.

With the more difficult AI and faster, more challenging racing (great!), they do need to introduce free practice sessions to at least the chilli races and championship races. I know there are track experience thingies to learn tracks, but you need to be able to easily practice a track in the particular car you’ve chosen before starting a race, especially if it’s in the middle of a championship you’re locked into, otherwise you often have to waste the first few laps learning the braking points etc for whatever car it is you’re using before getting on with chasing that (now faster) rabbit.
I’d also like the ability to buy tyres at the track before the race if the weather looks iffy. Going all the way back to the tuning shop is bothersome, impossible if you’re in the middle of a championship, and fitting every car out with all the tyres ‘just in case’ is expensive at this stage in the game.

Man I sincerely hope it is just a bug...
And I had no preformance issues whatsoever before...
There is a little drop on PS5 but a lot on PS4.

If that's the reason, I think PoDi needs to find the middle. Right now, they've lowered the slider a bit too much.

Tuning Question:
I am on GT Cafe Book 31. Porsche. No Problem with 2 of the races, there are always 2 very fast cars but i get third place easily. Not so on Nürburgring. Here are 3 very fast cars within two seconds which i cannot catch in the one round race. I dont want to reduce the Chillis so i am asking you for good tunings for the 911 GT3 (997) '09. PP max 650. Thank you!

GT7 as well as other newer GT has more refined restrictions in general compared to older GTs, they just deliberately didn't put restrictions on Cafe races for some reason (likely further trying to make Cafe easy... while Clubman Cup Plus has PP limit) other than drivetrain/country. But what's the relation of year restriction on American FR Challenge 550? The race title is only related to country, drivetrain, and PP level, not car generation.

The AI is more difficult on chili races, but the actual refined AI would be the Sophy, not that AI in chili race perhaps (which for some can also be easy). At least they use grid start in the higher level chili races, which probably shows they'd only return Practice or Qualifying if they have good AI (and those got removed for keeping the AI the same ._.); I also want Circuit Experience elements to be implemented as practice too, but for starter they have to make Circuit Experience be usable with any car (the time limit based on car's PP I guess).

I feel like the cafe mode would be far more satisfying if there was more of a hunt for the cars. As it is right now the game just gives you the three cars on a plate. It tells you where they are and winning most of them is just a matter of finishing 3rd in one race. There is no challenge in finding or acquiring them.

They're clearly leaning into the Pokémon with cars idea but there is no hunt, no surprise reward. Granted you can't directly translate hunting for Pokémon to hunting for cars in a racing game, you can't hide a car round the back of the Trial Mountain pit lane or in a scapes photo.

What they could have done though is told you that you can win a car, but not specifically what event. Just that it's one of 8 or something. So when you do find it, there is just a little bit of a feeling of the hunt. That was always how it was in the old games, you didn't know the prize until you got it.

For cars you can't win instead of automatically putting them in the UCD create some sort of minigame where you have to track them down. I'm not sure what, but surely they could come up with something.

Then there is the linearity issue that could be negated by letting you have multiple incomplete books open at a time, which would again help with the hunt aspect. You win a championship and what do you win? Could be one for the Mustang book, could be one for the City car book. It's not much, but that little bit of suspense and suprise can really make a difference. Everyone would have a different journey depending on which events they choose to do.

I do like the cafe idea broadly speaking but there is a lot of room for improvement before you even get into the formats of the races themselves.

I used the 911 RSR, detuned. Inters are required for one of the races.

I try not to buy another Porsche right now. On first try i just got the weight of the car down. Now i am trying with race-wheels and on the other side restricting the engine power.

What are you talking about? Seriously. I know the AI isn’t Sophy. It’s just much improved over GTS zombie AI. Also, I know some of the chilli races are easy, I have no problem with them, I just like to have clean races and not being able to practice before starting a race mid-championship, say, means I either a) have to drive cautiously for a lap or two (which may be half the race distance) while I learn the braking points for this particular car on this particular track or b) drive fast but accept I might overshoot or scrape walls here or there. My point is simple: it’d be easy for PD to add a free practice session button to every event to satisfy people like me who don’t like having to choose between a) and b) above.

When GT Sport came out people complained and objected to the heavy focus on racecars and esport, they complained about not being able to take a road car and tune it to then use as a racecar. Polyphony probably saw that and interpreted it as "they don't like racecars, let's not emphasise them".

Unless their plan the whole time was to add content in the shape of menus and championships periodically to allow people time to grind their way to being able to buy cars from Gr.1-3 similar to how Destiny 2 allows time for people to complete each "season".

Had the game since launch but only got to play it last night. My game crashed over 10 times in the first 2 hours. I had to repeat several races. Even on music rally the game crashed 3 times. One of them on the menu 😳

Anyone else having this issue? I’m on ps5.

Playing everyday. No crashes or problems on PS5.

As you are still at the beginning i would maybe install it completely.new.

My take on this is wild but plausible. The whole menu thing is quite easy and doesn't take a whole lot of effort, add in that some circuits have only 1 or even zero events and you have a very thin game. PD know this, they aren't stupid, the Café is almost a tutorial for them to get people of all abilities into some different cars, get a garage of good things and unlock everything.

First content update is gonna hit and is gonna put in a full fat GT mode with hundreds of race events, effectively replacing the café (which might move or be selectable in an archive to go back to look at achievements or something).

This is the only thing I can assume is going to happen.
Wait, so tyre smoke was 50% of the game?!
Well duh, especially if you use cockpit view. Can't see the smoke in the mirrors so it's nice to know there's big thick white plumes coming out the back of the car 85% of the time while driving.

Haven't begun to get tired of it. I don't understand how so many people on here have the time or energy to get through most of the game already. The career mode is not what it could or should have been, but I really enjoy trying to get all gold times on the license tests & circuits. didn't even get to online racing yet. Love the used car dealership, missions, customization, track selection. The good things far outweighs the disappointments for me and it's going to get better.
Careful, we're not allowed to be positive about the game on here otherwise the same 4 members will attack you for not going along with their narrative of Polyphony apparently being incompetent.

It's kinda hilarious/ironic because every "iRacing guy" or "ACC guy" that I know of who's been playing GT7 has actually been enjoying the game and have largely praised it. When you tell them that there's 36 Menus they think that's "a lot of content", meanwhile on this forum : "Polyphony are lazy! They had 5 years! This is all they did! Campaign is a joke that takes 1 day!"

So in a nutshell:

iRacing/ACC players: "wow this is amazing!"

GT "fans" on a GT forum: "this is terrible, worst game ever!"

Question: do you use the Dualsense triggers? I have them on "strong" and feel that i cant press the throttle as controlled and nuanced as i like due to the variying force behind it.

Yeah, same with my friend, he's more into PC sims and he thinks GT7 physics sits between vanilla AC and PC2 in terms of realism. When people start comparing the physics to Grid you just know they're being disingenuous and the best thing to do is disregard their opinion. I enjoy all all the seething this game is producing though, reading them is quite entertaining to say the least.

Do we already have detailed info on what exactly makes a lap clean or dirty? I’m farming at Fishermans Ranch now (stock spec Focus Gr.B) and I’m not the most skilled rally driver so my pace is only a tiny bit better than the AI on easy. So there is a lot of contact along the way and I’ve come to the following conclusion:

  • a soft touch from my front to AI rear does not make the lap dirty
  • a brutal sidepush does not make the lap dirty
  • landing on top of the AI car after a jump does not make the lap dirty
  • the AI smashing into me (his front in my rear) does not make the lap dirty
  • hitting the walls of a track (in whatever form) does not make the lap dirty

It‘s assumed that “they can hit you but you can’t hit them“ to keep a lap clean but I think it’s working a bit different. I think it’s more like this: If there is contact and the front of your car is involved, then the lap is dirty. (And “front“ also includes the front sides of your car)

Can more people keep an eye out on this and confirm / deny that statement? If true, that means you could brutally sideswipe into AI cars and keep the lap clean.

I do, I actually really enjoy the feel of the triggers, I'm the opposite to you in that I feel it helps me with controlled input on the throttle and the brake.

Yeah, I’ll probably do that. I’ll try to delete save data and rebuild the database before but if it persists I’ll have to download the game again.

Never had a console that crashed so many times. I remember I couldn’t even try the resident evil village demo. It always crashed.

Personally I would start a spam under you have official channels of GT, Kaz and Polyphony to restore the smoke tires, water particles and dirt/soil in the dirt tracks as before update 1.06, at least on PS5.

This nerf destroys the total immersiveness in the gameplay of the game.

Sorry about my bad English.

I'm still confused. Sometimes I think I missed the clean bonus, sometimes the opposite... There are some types of soft touchs that are considered as dirty lap. Maybe the question, what is considered "soft" or "hard" touch by the game. But I think your findings are reasonable.
