Can somebody tell me when an expired invitation finally vanishes? Mine expired on March 24 and it's still shown as if I have an "active" one...
They don't. I have to assume it's a bug since the dealership itself sees it's expired but the regional map seems to think they're still valid.

Can the people who find the game too difficult (there's a name for those) please stay in the physics thread? Your whining has nothing to do with the topic of this thread.
General discussion about Gran Turismo 7 has no place in the general discussion thread? Considering there's talk of tuning, BoP, physics and flaws then I think it fits the general discussion mould.

Also, no one in the past few pages has said the game is too difficult. The game is hideously unbalanced when BoP is applied, and the the physics and tyre model are wrong at the limit of grip for a majority of road cars. Don't confuse poor physics modelling with difficulty.

I just won this while grinding at Windmills. I have NEVER played online.
The Japanese description says "The total mileage including the players' you matched online", so it's not a bug that you could obtain it only by yourself.
(I guess this means "your total mileage" + "the other players' mileage of when they ran with you")

I just got that trophy too, but my single-handed total mileage is still 5516km.

Messing around with the livery editor and wondering how on earth we're supposed to make anything decent with it.
And I am wondering how can that be, when there are hundreds of people making tons of really cool and good looking liveries every day ?

If you are not able "to make anything decent with it", then I guess it's not the fault of the G7/ livery editor, because other people can do that and make very decent liveries with the same tool...

I still cannot wrap my head around why they decided to change GT Sport physics and tires so dramatically. That game felt on point right out of the box, but GT7 still feels uncomfortable despite having played it pretty much on a daily basis for a month now.
I get it, for sure. In Sport the cars just worked without doing anything to them, and were so safe and controllable, BUT...

I don't know how anyone is going back and forth between the two and thinking Sport "feels" better, even with all the issues in 7. Going back to Sport (I've been playing 7, but my partner is still working through Sport) is numb. You can ALWAYS push, oversteer is a non-issue, the steering is so washed out in comparison to 7, there is no threat of snap in any way, and it's generally just a lot more vague and lifeless than 7. The ease of it is what makes it boring in comparison to 7 (even though it's still a great game). It's too safe. GT7 is not safe at all. There is no resting here, and I like that. If anything GT7 is EXCELLENT training for Sport!

So yea, while 7 has a ton of little issues, when you're in it and have control of everything, it is WAY more communicative, sensitive, dangerous and therefore more rewarding than Sport. Some cars are flat out broken[i/] and beyond grip sucks[i/], and I have hope these things will be fixed, but the fine line to achieve success is amazing sometimes.

The handling model of 7 needs some work, a LOT actually, but there is a balance between Sport and 7 that needs to be found. That said, scaling it all the way back to the safety and numbness of Sport would be a bad move. For all it's problems, 7 is a much better and more challenging title. If they ever figure out tire limit balance, this game could be the best ever.

This is someone's decal compared to the vanilla design.
You get better results by using decals that don't need scaling up. For anything that's supposed to be the full length of the vehicle, it's going to want to be 6 or 7 decals, if not more, and if there's detail on it like the 3.0 CSL text, that needn't be any bigger than just those characters for maximum resolution. Projection angle also plays a part, so trying to cover curves with a single decal can also have a negative effect.

I was fairly satisified with the clarity of the decals on this... mostly because none really needed scaling, just repeating...

It's frustrating that the fact we upload vectors isn't better utilised, and I was hoping we'd see a resolution bump with GT7, but to suggest we can't make anything decent with it makes zero sense.

I've tried both small and huge graphics (as in, scaled in Illustrator before exporting) and it makes zero difference on the car. In the case of the 3.0 CSL livery the badge within the stripe is a negative, so it has to be included in the full thing.

It takes some time to disappear, like days or weeks. At least that's what happened to me with the Huayra and Carrera GT invitations.
Definitely something they have to fix.

It won't make any difference what size they are in illustrator, the game renders them to a fixed size, in at least one dimension* ... and it doesn't matter that it's effectively a mask, it can still be broken up.

*I'm actually not sure quite how the conversion process goes in game, because the level of pixelation doesn't seem to change depending how much you've scaled a decal (at least not between about 25% and 300%), but it seems that it's constrained by a maximum size in one dimension, so a decal with a really large aspect ratio tends to suffer more.

So is it possible to import the stripe as one object, then the lettering as another object that will cut through the stripe and expose the paint? That'd be pretty useful to me, for other designs as well.

Question to the Hagerty Insurance members. Do you all get discounts on your real cars for in-game Clean Race Bonuses? I mean, wonder if the data is shared between PD and Hagerty. They did share the info, for membered players to receive the bonus F1. Would be interesting. If said players are clean on the virtual track, could be an incentive.

It’s not unfathomable. Real life racers get bonus points for racing in the Fanatec esports GT Series. That effect their career during a racing championship.

I still haven’t figured out how to activate my bonus. But, the only advantage I thought it was supposed to give was a free Legends car, which I thought was a car of your choice, but it may just be that McLaren they’ve been handing out.

I don’t see how it’d impact anything else in the game. Why would Hagerty want GT player driving data, especially when the “clean race criteria” is so random? They’d have no use for it, digital track driving has little to no relation to how real owners use their cars on the road. It’s just a sponsorship, just like many of the other brands that have entered since GT Sport.

It actually got replaced now by a new invitation for Pagani (previous was Lamborghini). I have no idea when that happened and what triggered it. I certainly wasn't notified by the game that I had a new invitation. For all I knew it could still have been the same expired one I saw for a week before, if I hadn't gone into brand central by chance...

No, but it doesn't matter if the stripe is one complete object, or 7, the bit with the the text on it can still be a mask - the fact you need part of the body work to show through doesn't necessitate it all being one piece.

Sorry for not being on the topic of livery editor, but are the daily ticket stars random?
Or does it vary based on the number of races the player ran before getting it, etc.?

I have been completing daily challenges and grind of cr in dirt events.
But since the beginning of this week I switched to using oval racing which is an easy and consistent way to get clean race bonuses.
Then since then I have only gotten 1 and 2 star tickets from the daily challenge.

Is this just a coincidence or is there a connection?

Gotta be a coincidence.

I've had two disappear and one stay. The only one that stayed was for a car I caved in to and bought. Is this consistent with both of you?

And yeah, bug.

Well, most cars in reality actually are relatively straightforward to drive unless you’re handling something particularly demanding like a Shelby Cobra or an old Porsche 911 Turbo. GT Sport captured these nuances convincingly, and you could throw the classic rear-engined Alpine A110 around on the limit feeling like you were taming it rather than fighting it. This is not the case in GT7 though.
I don't know how anyone is going back and forth between the two and thinking Sport "feels" better, even with all the issues in 7.
Because GT Sport physics feel transparent whereas GT7 physics feel emphasized for the worse in some areas, with the sponge-esque weight transfer possibly being the main culprit. I understand that many cars are supposed to bounce around on their suspensions when driven hard, but not to the point where the car actually begins to wobble like some 1950s cruiser. Suspension springs are flexible but also stiff, but GT7 fails on the stiffness part.

You cannot push the cars in GT Sport without consequence. They all have a limit that can be felt progressively, which does wonders for the driving pleasure, but in GT7 the limit is typically sudden and not always logical.

GT7 never feeling safe is in my opinion the very problem with it. I’m not saying cars are never dangerous in reality, but in GT7 many cars are just too sensitive to small mistakes. For example, braking a Nissan GT-R R35 in a straight line requires utmost concentration in GT7. Apply the brakes wrong and the cars will just try to disappear underneath you. Small correctional steering inputs while braking the car are extremely demanding as well. That’s the kind of behaviour I’d anticipate from a pre-war racing car, and not from a modern and hugely refined car like the Nissan GT-R. It can be driven in GT7, but it must be treated like a rotten egg. Driving the same car unassisted in other games isn’t equally difficult in comparison.

Some cars are flat out broken and beyond grip sucks, and I have hope these things will be fixed, but the fine line to achieve success is amazing sometimes.
I don’t know if some cars in GT7 are outright broken. However, the physics are weird and therefore some cars just feel like crap to drive. The more suspension travel a car has, the more likely it is to handle like a nightmare in GT7. Some say the DeTomaso Mangusta is broken, but I say it just brings out the worst in GT7 physics. MR layout combined with a chassis optimized for ride comfort over circuit performance = recipe for a bad time in this game. I’m sure this car would also feel clumsy in GT Sport, but not to the point where people would immediately write it off as “broken”.

The handling model of 7 needs some work, a LOT actually, but there is a balance between Sport and 7 that needs to be found. I’m not against physics improvements over GT Sport, but I don’t subscribe to more challenging meaning higher realism. It all depends on what you drive, as I explained in the beginning of my post. I agree it would be great if PD could channel in on a middle ground between GT Sport physics and GT7 physics. Less numb than the former and less bloated than the latter… That’s where the sweet spot might be.

I'm 80% sure the windmills at Sardegna dirt track moves slower or faster depending on the wind speed. Either that or I drove on that track too much lmao
What's the point of having wind speed when the trees don't even react to it bro? 🌲

I'm sure some if not most must've noticed this....
When in a championship set of races, if you were to win the first race ahead of the fastest car on the track, typically in the second race the classified starting order either should be myself in the first place or in the last place if going by reverse grid order. But what happens is you'll start last whereas the second placed car which was the fastest as per performance, starts first.
Maybe this is the way of PD to make the race more challenging?
