It’s a car from 1965, it should be under its own brand. Not alongside the new MINI. Again, maybe BMW own the rights to all things Mini. I don’t know.
The '65 model would originally have been a Morris or an Austin. BMW don't own these brand names even though they own BMC, which built the cars. I assume that's why the car is debadged (IIRC) in the game.
I think it did become a marque of its own while it was British, but certainly went under Austin and Rover at various points.
It became it's own thing under BMC Holdings in the late 60's, which then became part of British Leyland, parts of which (including Mini) then became the Rover Group, which was owned by British Aerospace at the point it was sold to BMW.

None of this explains why PD choose to represent a clearly British car from what was a British brand at the time as German... however it's interesting that although BMW appear to own the 'marque' and the rights to the likeness and the design of the car, they don't own any of the other brands that actually sold the Mini (Morris, Austin, Leyland or Rover), so the opportunity to put a car in the came, that's called a Mini, and looks like a Mini, and license it from just one company, would appear to be highly limited. The old Mini's produced under BMW's ownership were (I believe) Rovers, what's left of the Rover brand is now owned by Tata/JLR.

And I know I've been Tree'd by Famine, but that's the risk of taking an hour long phone call mid-post.

Just watched the promotional video that Gran Turismo posted on their Facebook page for the 2022 World Series World Finals…

Is Monaco coming for this update cause it’s definitely shows Monaco (probably to be named Côte D’Azur most likely)?

I might have missed something but it looks interesting at least…

*Apologies MicVic10 - I didn’t see your original thread earlier.

No worries, the more we spread the message, the better. Don't want to hype something that may never come, but that looks game engine to me! So I think yes, Monaco is coming!

I mean, it's an event happening in Monaco so that'd be why they're showing it. It didn't look like it was ingame footage or anything to me, so it's probably just misc background footage to hype the event.

Nope, Monaco is the actual location for the World Finals as it's been for GT Sport. This is not confirmation that it's coming to GT7.

Honestly i like VGT's... i really do. Just not if its at the expense of other "needed" cars. Still so many great road cars missing, from Alfa Giulia QV to Ferrari 488 GTB and C8 Corvette and so on... the list is almost endless. And that is just very current cars.

I think this is the biggest condemnation of the PS5 I've ever read, other than "enemy console bad" from Xbox fans.
It seems half the games I've bought had paid DLC or MTX's. Among Us has MTX's. Stray doesn't, but the physical release is several months behind the digital one. Dying Light was another one, but I was dumb to think I could save money by getting the standard version "on sale".
I don't like the idea of having to keep paying in order to finish whatever the main game is. If it costs $90 for the full game, tell me that. I might still buy it. Don't sell me half a game for a "budget" price without saying so up front.
If I can win access to the content (like winning money to spend at Hagerty's), then I don't mind so much. That's akin to putting more quarters into the Tempest machine in order to play higher levels.
I also don't mind buying one or sometimes two expansion packs. Red Alert 1 has three, each with new content developed after the main game. I think they would come out to $175 for all three these days but they all had 10-15 additional missions to them, not just a single boss fight for $10. Each pack could take 20-30 hours to work through.
I ran into paid DLC on the 360 and PSP, though nowhere close to what's on the PS5. I'm sure Microsoft is just as bad on the Series consoles.
That said, these days we have several generations of games we can dig into, the vast majority of them don't have DLC at all. Once you buy the game, it's yours with ALL the content included. If you don't like MTX's, those consoles may be your better option.

And yes, I realize the purpose of MTX's in a game where I could simply play for hours to win the items being sold. It's to make money for the developers. The bottom line is that I can use it to my advantage. I can play something else for a while without having to worry about missing out on stuff.
I think it's a win-win situation, and let's face it: if you're even an average driver, an hour of grinding will earn you enough credits to choose from 75-80% of the in game cars. 2-3 hours of grinding brings that to 90%. That means the only car you truly have to spend extra cold hard cash to get is the RX-Vision Stealth. At least that comes with a cardboard box and a Steelbook.

Yeah. For the. 50th anniversary , we will get 6 cars 🤣😂
Maybe it’s not linear? There are many different options on the table here, but weirdly they all project we’ll get 6 cars at the 50th anniversary 🤔

Linear:
f(x) = 12x/100
-> f(25) = 3, f(50) = 6

Quadratic:
g(x) = (x^2)/625 + 2
-> g(25) = 3, g(50) = 6

Sine:
h(x) = (3/2)(sin(π(2x-75)/50) + 3)
-> h(25) = 3, h(50) = 6

Out on Nov 27th

So, theoretically, we'll have the 25 anniversary update first (Thursday??) and the Ferrari VGT next Monday.

Actually hyped

Err, no. The Ferrari VGT is being unveiled on November 27. There's no information on when it will be in the game.

For comparison, the Lamborghini VGT was unveiled at the Monaco event in 2019, and arrived 28 months later...

My bad, I misunderstood

Please don't use this word.
There are alternatives.
