While I think it would be stupid, I dont think it would be strange.
There have been whole games with a finished but unpolished code that have been scrapped and put together worse and THEN released.
Like, because you seem to like mentioning past games, Unreal Tournament 2003 for example.

My thought is that if you add a new track in the demo, existing GT players will want to download it as well. Contributing to more downloads and more visibility to other players who have never tried GT before.

People might dislike it, but I love how random the car selection seems to be on these updates, never in a million years I would expect a Jimny being added alongside a 650hp Turbo missile and a electric hypercar
