Hopefully like previous related versions of GT (e.g. GT4 prologue) youā€™ll at least earn some credits or prizes that transfer to the real game
 
I don't get people's optimism around new content appearing in MFGT.

It's a GT7 demo. Its target audience is explicitly people who won't know if the content in it is new-to-series or not because they haven't played the series.
I'm basically 100% with you.


What I am gonna say though that if I was in charge of the demo and was maybe sitting on some unreleased content I'd put it right in there to:

A: Generate a lot of buzz around my demo and getting your base excited is a good way to do that.

and

B: Put out some impressive PR afterwards like how many million downloads your demo got.



I don't think it's gonna happen mind you, but there is some logic behind that line of thought.
 
Think ā€œMy First Gran Turismoā€ is Kazā€™ first Gran Turismo? Was thinking he was Thirty years old when Gran Turismo released and itā€™ll be the 30th anniversary of PlayStation. The GT franchise has always been his vision. Just wondering if heā€™s put together the best not only from gathered player data, but what he liked in the franchise.

Just an example of the teaser showing the first Countach. Itā€™s a bit odd because his first car was the R32 GT-R. Wonā€™t be long until we find out. Should be interesting.
When I first heard of that, I though we could get a gran turismo 1 themed update in gt7, with cars from from gt1 and tracks like autumn ring or ss route 5. But thats probably dreaming too much.

People like setting themselves up for disappointment so they can keep having something to moan about.

Speaking of content, when did Grand Valley South get added and how have I never noticed it?
 
I really wish they would share their plans for the future. Is GT7 something they are going to build upon indefinitely or are they working on something new within the next few years? The game's 3 year anniversary is coming up and I think it's about time they give us something to look forward to in the series more than just some chase the rabbit events and some cars every month-ish. Maybe that demo will be a catalyst for interviews where the series' future can be asked about.

I have the same feeling. I finally want endurance races in the game. When are we going to get more missions? Those weekly special events are fantastic but i wish they would make them available in the main game.
I mean it's nice to have regularly updates, even after a lifecycle of almost 3 years. But this game can and could be so much more. They took alot away from us and i fear it's never coming back.

This would make sense to me IMO. But the likelihood is probably 0%

In the end youā€™ll end up chasing rabbits anyway. Something else to look forward to will only provide a temporary distraction from that.
 
Little bit of a rant but man. As a single player experience, GT7 is a deeply unserious game. Starting you at the back with massive gaps between each car, itā€™s legitimately disrespectful to the playerā€™s time and an insult to be considered as good for a racing game from PDā€™s side.

I struggle to imagine that the designers genuinely think this is good, so Iā€™m left with it being intentionally like this with no care on replicating actual racing.

Design work this poor would be laughed out of any other SIE studio. Whoeverā€™s making these calls needs a boot up the bum to actually do quality work.

Iā€™m sure theyā€™re capable of it but simply choose not to - and that is not acceptable. This stretches back to even GT6, GT5 to an extent. At least with GT1-4, the cars were much closer together at the start.

The complete disrespect of the playerā€™s time genuinely makes me angry. Itā€™s no fun to play time trial with mobile chicanes with the top 3 being actually decently quick (sometimes) but rubber banded to all hell so you can actually catch up.

How is this acceptable from a AAA studio? It wouldnā€™t even pass for indie teams. The core of this game is golden, surrounded by a rotting carcass of a single player mode.

To the PD design team - I mean no ill will, nothing personal, but professionally, get your **** together and make a competent single player mode. If I can, then you certainly can.

****, I will literally work for free if I could just to give this game a single player it deserves. I want a good single player so badly and I know it canā€™t just be me who feels the same.

Come on guys. Play some custom races with a grid start and a mixed starting position. Then put together a good single player.

I genuinely hope I can one day work at PDā€™s design team or that they hire someone capable of making a good career - or the current team get their heads out of the sand, because sadly, as it is, I donā€™t see it getting better single player wise. Itā€™s been like this for years and the special events are mostly more of the same.

I love this series but the single player is just not good.

And if this is Kazā€™s decision and he sees no problem with it, mate, it might be time to retire from designing the career. This isnā€™t it.

The reasoning that the single player racing is bad is that PD had no intention in making it good in the first place, because most of Kaz's interest all along was the online racing component. He wanted Gran Turismo to become an online, eSports experience above all else.

It was why starting from GT5 that the offline single player component would start suffering while the online became the most appealing part about the game. Technically his desire for online racing fun can be seen further back from that with the GT4 online demo.

Of course I don't like that direction, I would prefer that we had both worlds with equal focus, but that's the reality I'm living in.

I think PD will implement this stuff in GT8 just to convince people to buy the new GT game. Sophy is a good example of that. The AI will defenitely be improved in the next game.
In the mean time i don't understand why they can't put grid starts in weekly events or new events with each update.

As for the singleplayer: i said it a couple of times this week and i'll say it again. They took alot away from us with GT7. Biggest thing for me is endurance racing and no i'm not going to do 200 laps custom races. I mean real endurance singleplayer events.
Also, the career has suffered because they changed the business model to "monthly/regurarly updates" in terms of content. The drip feeding is the worst part and it's driving me crazy. On the other hand, like i said, the game is almost 3 years old and we still receive updates.

I don't necessarily agree with your point. If Kaz wants this game to be an eSports game and attract new players then he is not doing a very good job imo. I didn't touch the online for months if not a year at this point. There is little to none improvement in the online aspect. Still the same model with 3 daily races and some TT's. A penalty system that fails.
In terms of World series yeah great, but for the average player, the online component becomes boring very fast.

Why don't they make a singleplayer with the best features from all the previous games? And then connect the online component to it and focus on improving the online during a game's lifecycle? Best of both worlds.

Iā€™m actually wondering if itā€™s not simply the case that PDā€™s devs just really suck at making their AI drive well, and the single player racing, as is, is the compromise they came up with.

I do kinda think that if PD didn't care about single player, they wouldn't be developing this new A.I. technology at all.
It serves no purpose as far as multiplayer is concerned, unless they have an online B-Spec integration in the future.
 
I believe it's been stated before that the purpose of chase the rabbit is so that anyone, of any skill level, will be actually racing against other cars at some point during any given race assuming relatively similar machinery; higher-skilled players will need to carve through the field before sodding off into the distance, lower-skilled players will end up somewhere in the pack.

Sophy isn't specifically about being faster, but a more human-like opponent. It just started out as being faster as well, simply because it's easier to make a fast AI slower than it is to make a dumb one smarter and it's easier to test against highly consistent, fast humans.

I do wish they kept the fastest version of it as a 4th difficulty setting, just because I would want to see the potential of the cars and the lines it chooses.
Currently it is actually slower than the human comedy endurance AI.

This is why I think my theory, that PD simply canā€™t program an AI worth a damn, might have a bit of weight.
 
MFGT has been rated in Taiwan.

I'd be very surprised if it came out before the GTWS final in Amsterdam, as it's likely that the full announcement will be at the event.
But GT7 does have difficulty options for career mode now, with exception of the pepper events, licence tests and mission challenges.
And it is, for the most part, meaningless. Except where it isn't - which includes, very notably, one of the Missions that it's not even supposed to affect and the wrong way round..

B-Spec would be something i very much like in the game. But since there is no endurance races in GT7, i don't think it would serve a good purpose. Also B-Spec returning to series seems unlikely at this point.

As is said before, i think the AI will be much improved in the next GT game. Or maybe at least we will have the option to choose a difficulty (like Sophy)?

Quite, but for whatever reason there's not been pre-race qualification in a Gran Turismo game in 20 years...

... except in championship-style events, where it's been 17 years.

Improving on the qualification you mean?
Otherwise you could also improve during the race (of which there is evidently more when you start way back).

I dont recall how many of the other racing games are doing that, but I think in the current NFS you are either placed randomly, or always at the same spot per event.
In Grid Legends I am sure there was also no qualifications option.
And then some other games will always put you in the back because of reverse finish to starting grid order.

In my opinion this fixation on "I dont like chasing" is lost time, and starting at the front doesnt feel like racing but running away when you have a car inside the regulations, it generally will only be racing when you put sever handicaps on.
 
One thing I find discussion seems to overlook quite frequently is the absence of the basic premise of Championships being 'all-in'.

In GT7, for some reason, you can individually restart any race, meaning if you don't get the result you need to stay in contention you can get infinite re-dos. It's a big oversight, IMO.

This is not the way.
