To some extent, the rotation of the Used and Legend car dealers.
Can't be a FOMO mechanic if (to a high level of certainty) you know it's coming back.

The only FOMO mechanic left in GT7 in its current state is Invitations. Which suck.

Meanwhile other racing titles withdraw car rewards, cosmetic rewards, and even actual races if you don't do them within a specific window and with no guarantee, or even hint, that they're ever coming back.

Such a weird, weird criticism to level at GT7 when there's other, more valid ones.

I guess cars like the official GTWS RC F special livery are something players missed out on if they don’t participate during those certain time periods.

The middle one could easily be Alfa Romeo, that triangle bonnet

Don’t tell them that you can’t get past Forza Reward cars unless you have a Time Machine…
Dont tell them, you'll forever miss out on GT weekly events, yikes. How is DTM event going?

That guy is just baiting people and it seems hes out of any good arguments when he has to mention concord lmao

meanwhile GT7 series’ Highest-Grossing Title :dopey:
Don't go under your own narrative for that, if you want me to tell you all that's wrong with GT7, we can do it somewhere else.

I want this game to be better, but judging from direction it's going....doesn't seem to be so bright

Weekly challenges...meanwhile, we have no proper events. Sure. Great Fomo!

Weekly challenges
Are 80% drawn from existing races, the other one is a custom race anyone can set up at any time, and they don't give any unique rewards that you'll otherwise miss out on.

Every update adds 3-5 new races, permanently. They are not removed with the next update, or existing only for the "season".

Do you play the game at all?

What are the odds that there will be no single players event designed for the new 90's F1 car?

Getting Mercedes W196 vibes all over again
I mean, they added the ID.R which to this day still has zero races in world circuits that it can realistically both enter and win. The F3500 will get into the 900/950 PP series races and that's probably about it.

This game has to evolve in terms of events.

Special events of weeklies show it's potential, yet forever burying them under is just nonsensical

3-5 Races worth of 30 minutes of content on monthly basis. It's quite sad, like tell me if you are not bored with them or doing them for the sake of hitting 100% of completed races, because I would and it would be a sad reason to finish all of this monthly drip.

GT5-6 was more creative with their seasonal events. We're going downwards and it hurts.

None of that is relevant to your "FOMO" claim, which I was refuting. I don't really care about any of this post-rationalisation.

No, you need to evolve in your ability to use the game's tools.

If they were permanent events, you'd just poopoo them and say they only took 40 minutes of your time and now you're bored again.

I've bought all the cars in the game, and I'm happily going through my garage making or finding races to test them all out. People who enjoy Scapes, Liveries also have limitless entertainment here.

Again, it's YOUR initiative and creativity that's lacking.

This is almost complete conjecture based on one data point on my part, but with the Civic silhouette coming today I'm starting to wonder if PD are thinking of moving towards more Forza Horizon/The Crew style "playlist"-based career events for GT8, rather than the current more static model where for most event types you can use the same car for the whole thing.

It'd make sense as to why they have been so focused on making sure the Civic/GT-R/Evo/911/TT etc lines are complete. If instead of, say, just having some Evolution Meeting races that take all the Evos, the intent is to have you go through the history, doing a race in the I-III, then a race in the IV-VI, then a race in the VII-IX, then a race in the X/Final. Maybe if it's joined up enough, winning that then rewards you with say an Evo rally car that you can use in the '90s part of a rally playlist, though that part might be wishful thinking on my part.

I could be super way off with this, but it makes sense in my head, and it'd be an improvement in terms of tying the game into car history (a big part of the series nowadays) than just having some text everyone skips through.

Pretty heavy contender for being the worst update in GT7 yet, we'll have to wait to see if there's a new track (which probably won't have).

Hopefully this doesn't become the new standard, but if it does, I'll just hope that they're full steam into GT8 and don't have much time to focus on GT7 content :dunce:
What the hell? We literally had an update with jimny and 2 vgt cars and now an update with freaking F1 car is somehow the worst one. Doom posting is getting out of hand.

Couldn’t agree more on the car history part, they could do so much more when it comes to implementing the history into the actual gameplay with the content they have on their hands, events or championships they could create with these cars and tracks.
But yeah, as all these cars weren’t in the game from the start, maybe they wait till GT8 to bring a different approach to events from the start into the game, but that’s just speculation.

A different theory is that someone on the PD team has an affinity for kanjo racers (and Evo's)

I'm interested to see what cars are going to be revealed this coming Thursday, and I hope PD adds an endurance race for campaign mode. They keep adding Sunday Cup, Porsche Cup and other Clubman Cup races. That's nice but we need something more enhancing and exciting to do, like a race at Le Mans. It'd be cool to add some new engine swap ideas. Yeah, we have enough Civic models in the game, we don't need anymore. I've found some of the CE's to be more difficult due to the physics change back a few months ago. I guess it's okay, but it's taken me a while to get used to the challenges now.

It’s in the lower spectrum of mediocre updates. EVs and crossovers are divisive, the formula is just a home-brewed PD creation and while the Civic is in line with GT conventions, it’s not really the most interesting JDM choice. Things could be worse, but this selection is not good.
That's a lot of personal opinions. If you try to be objective about it, this update broadens the scope of the car selection more than most.

The F1 car is a totally unique new option, licensed or not (generic formula cars are a staple of the series, but the pros and cons of that are an entirely different topic).

The Civic is pretty unique in being the first 80s JDM compact car in the game, unless I'm forgetting something.

The Toyota is of course not an interesting car in itself, but it fills the gap of "current everyday road cars" which this GT has very few of. The fact it's a crossover is a reflection of the times, like it or not.

The Hyundai is in a somewhat similar category - if you don't like EVs that's fine, but it's not Gran Turismos fault that they are relevant nowadays.
