If GT has anything it's variety. Putting a M5 in there would't bring more variety - putting in a tractor would.
Just use a different word to say you really want a M5 man.
You really don't need to take two looks at the community to figure out why that can very well be the case. No matter what they do, a good three quarters of people will still whine and bicker about it. In their position I would have called it quits with free updates years ago as it's pearls before swine anyway.Sometimes i feel like they slowly started to straight up despise their own community, but maybe that's too much overthinking of me. 😃
Well, there's over 500 cars in the game, so that should be sufficient enough to make anyone thrilled. And we already have enough tracks and license tests/circuit experiences, missions and other sport mode features that should keep most players occupied. I just accept what PD give us instead of complaining, because all it's doing is drawing in negative energy for the game.Something people don't seem to always take into account when complaining about the inclusion/exclusion of certain cars is that GT has to keep a lot of people happy. I'm sure a lot of players are super crazy into the E-sports side of thing and want as many race cars as possible, but this is an entry-level racing title at the end of the day.
Exactly, that’s the point I guess not a lot of people are considering. The game needs to be alive and it’s own thing and be not just a platform for the most requested cars by the community and nostalgia from previous titles, in that way it loses part of its identity. It’s still a game made by people who also have their own approach to car culture and their own interpretation of what a game revolving around cars should look like (sure this sounds a bit idealistic and all as there’s also deals with manufacturers for example, but that’s just a small part I would and even that isn’t just business I would say in the case of GT).Throwing my hat into a ring I don't really want to be part of, I think all this wish-listing and moaning about omissions is putting the cart before the horse.
So many vehicles have attained cult status within the GT community over the years precisely BECAUSE they were in the previous games, before crowd-sourcing "ideas" was a thing. This attitude of "why boring/weird car in my game?" just limits any kind of unique experience or unexpected surprise from our beloved franchise.
I do agree that PD have been leaning a bit too heavily into nostalgia with the last two entries, but I also think that getting your nose bent out of shape because a handful of many, many thousands of different cars over history aren't there, is just stupid.
Assuming the Civic is an EF, none of the four cars are from past games. None of the previous five were either. You have to go back to the Evo VIII in 1.52 to find one: one of the last 12 cars including this upcoming update. Most updates have more all-new than returning (even if we include closely related cars as returning) with only four updates bucking that trend.Kaz addressed that in the gtplanet interview. He said if he just keeps adding cars from past games it gets stale quickly. However, he’s been doing just that and still complaints.
Oh, for sure. Part of me saying he’s doing just that, is me relating “old cars” as past cars. Also, indeed throughtout the life of this game we’ve gotten cars(and versions as you pointed out) from past games. I understand new cars can be new cars in year model and new to the franchise cars.Assuming the Civic is an EF, none of the four cars are from past games. None of the previous five were either. However, it was "only", and "old cars" not "cars from past games". He said "if you do only that [add old cars], it will probably end" and "if all you want is old cars that's fine, but that will never last".
Over the last year (the interview is now two years old), we've had one update - 1.43 - which hasn't included a Brand Central-exclusive (therefore 2010 and on) car. In fact I think that's the only one full-stop, although the two in 1.29 were the ItalDesign VGT twins. Every other update has had something new as well as the old cars, therefore not being "only" old cars added.
This. So much this. Then, SNAIL could repeal/revoke/cancel the below silly, asinine rule/policy to compensate, so as not to exclude players new to the game and/or SNAIL and, those cars wouldn't be near as likely to get relegated back to the dust bin after one damn week of running them, or not get picked at all, because they'll only get run for 1 week.I hope one day there is an update that makes the Used and Legend Car dealerships have all cars available in their lineup where it's just like Brand Central, with an option to buy them new and on demand (e.g. with zero mileage and being able to select the car's default colors/liveries), with an option to buy them used like with the current systems.
That way the difference between the dealerships in the game would be down to the era of cars represented: Brand Central for modern cars from within 2001-present, Used Cars for older, but more common vehicles, and Legend Cars for the iconic and famous classics.
Vehicles eligible for selection for Sunday night racing are as follows:Note: UCD and LCD cars that are under the credit cap and currently available for purchase may be chosen for use. When they are chosen for use, an eligible car from Brand Central must also be chosen to use as a back-up car in the event that the UCD or LCD car becomes unavailable for purchase prior to race day. If the LCD or UCD car should become unavailable for purchase before the time that the drivers list is updated for racing, the back-up car will be switched in and used.
This would be a great move on PD's part! It would expand our available selection of cars for the league races. There's a lot of great cars being automatically removed once they're out of circulation or overlooked altogether.This. So much this. Then, SNAIL could repeal/revoke/cancel the below silly, asinine rule/policy to compensate, so as not to exclude players new to the game and/or SNAIL and, those cars wouldn't be near as likely to get relegated back to the dust bin after one damn week of running them, or not get picked at all, because they'll only get run for 1 week.
So yeah, PD, how about some QoL love for one of the longest running, if not the longest running, online racing leagues using Gran Turismo. While you're considering that, might as well continue with some QoL for the VR2 player corps and add some more pages of race data in the MFD. 🙏

Usually it's around 4pm UTC. On Wednesday.Well, it's now Tuesday (GMT). That means we're entering trailer watch territory. Could release today, or tomorrow.
+1 totally agree. Plus, they keep adding awesome cars to the game only to be hidden behind the UCD and LCD rotation.This. So much this. PD needs to fix this. We recently had an event using 50's race cars, all in the 6 to 20m range. I didn't have the credits needed during the weeks leading up to the event. Had credits a week before the event but all the required cars had been removed at that point.This. So much this. GT6 has all the cars available in the dealerships...I hope one day there is an update that makes the Used and Legend Car dealerships have all cars available in their lineup where it's just like Brand Central, with an option to buy them new and on demand (e.g. with zero mileage and being able to select the car's default colors/liveries), with an option to buy them used like with the current systems.
If they actually decoupled the single-player economy & car collecting from the multiplayer lobbies, that would be a huge step forward. There isn't any reason I can think of for why players shouldn't have access to at least factory cars from the BCD/UCD/LCD in multiplayer.PD needs to fix this. We recently had an event using 50's race cars, all in the 6 to 20m range. I didn't have the credits needed during the weeks leading up to the event. Which was convenient, but also took away some of the fun factor. I like that there's a rotation in the used car dealership and that there's an element of surprise when you open it.GT6 has all the cars available in the dealerships...
Wow, that is actually a very interesting idea, great way to teach car and racing history. With period-correct racing suits and tracks and all that. You can not only learn about cars, but also how tracks, safety, rules, technology evolved over the years. Maybe the game can also teach you about famous car people and drivers amongst different series, make you race against Moss, Fangio, Mouton, etc. That sounds like such an amazing way to make a career in a racing game, and it makes so much sense for GT, which can finally make use of that Museum section.Perhaps in a future GT title you could start the game in, say, the 1950's and buy the cars available back then as new and then as the game progresses you move on to the 1960's, 1970's etc and during this transition cars would move from brand central to the used car dealership and then with time some would eventually go to the legendary dealership...
The Subaru 22B Rally Car returned with Eiger Nordwand as a tribute to GT HD, which had the same model complete with an interior, but for some reason never made it to GT5 or GT6.Variety is good, as it means there's a higher chance for there to be something for everyone. That makes sense for the amount of cars we typically get per update now.
However it's also fun to occasionally have an update with a set/main theme. Thinking back to when we had 3 Group C cars paired with Le Mans in a GT Sport update, although there were also other cars too.
Maybe the upcoming update is a bit like that on a smaller scale, if say there was a new F1 circuit to be paired with the F3500-A. The previous circuit Eiger Nordwand was half a year ago, but I guess we'll find out in a few days if there's something new.
Isn’t the one we got in GT7 technically new? I thought I read on here somewhere that it was the 99 that was in previous GTs and not the 98 like we have now?The Subaru 22B Rally Car returned with Eiger Nordwand as a tribute to GT HD, which had the same model complete with an interior, but for some reason never made it to GT5 or GT6.
A compromise might be similar to GT4’s used cars where pretty much 90% of them are available at all times, and just the colours rotate, and then those remaining 10% are the more unusual and rare cars that only appear every now and then.Which was convenient, but also took away some of the fun factor. I like that there's a rotation in the used car dealership and that there's an element of surprise when you open it.
Inconvenient when you just want a certain car in a certain colour, sure. But more fun than having everything available all the time.
Yeah, there's all sorts going on with that post.Isn’t the one we got in GT7 technically new?
Reminds me of the old EA Tiger Woods PGA Golf game. You'd have to play through the eras with period accurate equipment, and beat each of the greats. Learned more about the history of golf from that game than anywhere else, and definitely grew my interest in the sport.Wow, that is actually a very interesting idea, great way to teach car and racing history. It's not a 22B - that's a road car - but a WRC99, it wasn't in GTHD at all as it ended up being cut despite being in some preview media, the same car did appear in GT5 and GT6 as a Standard/Simplified car (and actually from GT2-6, except HD/5P), and yes the GT7 car is the WRC98.
Just that, now the UCD and LCD mechanics are just proven to be a FOMO stuff, maybe it's an outdated GT feature that people wanted that actually doesn't work now.Which was convenient, but also took away some of the fun factor. I like that there's a rotation in the used car dealership and that there's an element of surprise when you open it.

Sounds like NFS Porsche Unleashed's Evolution mode, but applied to all kind of cars rather than strictly Porsche. Neat idea to have the dealership changing from each era.Perhaps in a future GT title you could start the game in, say, the 1950's and buy the cars available back then as new and then as the game progresses you move on to the 1960's, 1970's etc and during this transition cars would move from brand central to the used car dealership and then with time some would eventually go to the legendary dealership...
Maybe GT's job/role is to explain why the cars/vehicles are great, where those that explain why the drivers are great are done by their discipline-based games like F1 24's Challenge Career.Wow, that is actually a very interesting idea, great way to teach car and racing history. Yeah, GT7 one is Colin McRae's (555 livery), the previous GT one was Richard Burns' (Subaru WRC livery).Isn’t the one we got in GT7 technically new? I thought I read on here somewhere that it was the 99 that was in previous GTs and not the 98 like we have now?
