So weird they added the CH-R in its base spec.
I think it's appropriate and they should almost always do this. Remember GT2? Remember how it had literally hundreds of crappy Japanese economy cars that were pretty gutless until you tuned them? That's the point. If there's one thing that drives me nuts about PD lately it's them adding top specs of cars because that eliminates half of the gameplay.

In other news, is that trailer song already in the game? It's not really my style but it goes hard. If it is I imagine it's race music and I haven't played with race music since GT2.

Now I'm confused. It has been mentioned here several times that AI in custom races will always use stock tires.
Will try and report back!
They will use their stock tires UNLESS you equip them with RH tires(it won't work for RM and RS tires, only RH will do this job)...this is one exception from that rule!

Another exception: If you run a custom race on dirt or snow, the AI will switch to dirt or snow tires automatically, even if they are from your garage and you never bought dirt or snow tires for them!(just found that bit of information out a week ago ;)...)
Just make sure that the car you are using yourself has the dirt/snow tires on before enter the settings-menu for the custom race. The game won't let you start that race, when your car is still on road tires and you might loose all the settings you made for the race if you havn't saved those settings...)

What are the odds that there will be no single players event designed for the new 90's F1 car?

Getting Mercedes W196 vibes all over again

Called it...I take no pleasure in this...it's an utter waste of resources in putting the car in the game if the majority of players will never actually find use for it.

When I said I really meant the trim. AFAIK the CH-R hybrid only came with 1 powertrain at first, though I could be wrong. It’s weird seeing those base spec halogens in the back instead of the LEDs that came in the much more popular upper trims.

By the February update, we would already exceed a milestone with over 100 cars added from updates. As of this update (1.55), 99 cars have been added to GT7 so far, resulting in 523 cars. That's as many cars as the complete version of Forza Motorsport 3.

100 extra cars in three years, and then I heard that Polyphony are capable of 60 cars a year if I remember correctly...

Must be a regional thing. I don't think I've ever seen a C-HR with LED tail lights here in North America. I also don't think we got the hybrid, so I suppose when I was talking about the C-HR being a good cheap kid's car in the future I was referring to our non-hybrid 2.0L CVT model. The hybrid will be a lot less simple to maintain for a high school kid, although Toyota's hybrids are really reliable.

I can't imagine a better reasonable car for a young driver than a Toyota Hybrid, especially the 1.8 that the CHR initially got. Reliable like nothing else. Looks like Japan also got a 1.2 turbo non-hybrid, but the GT7 screenshots show a blue haze in the Toyota badge, meaning it's definitely a hybrid. Looking online it seems the JDM version of the CHR did get the LED taillights in the higher trims, like the "G".

Reading through the past few pages of this thread, I can't help but to wonder why people want more up–to–date GT3 cars in the game. I'm not trying to challenge anybody's opinions; I'm genuinely curious.

With Balance of Performance in theory evening out the cars, why would anyone want a Ferrari 296 GT3 in the game? What purpose would it serve that the existing 458 GT3 doesn't already do? If anything, I think history has shown us that, when a younger car gets added into a grouped racing category, the older car of the same manufacturer gets bopped out of contention. We've seen this when the RX-Vision replacing the Atenza, when the Supra Racing Concept replaced the FT-1 Gr.3, and I think we continue to see it with the GT-R '18 replacing the GT-R '13 and the R8 Evo replacing the R8. I'm aware that exceptions to this exist, like the 155 DTM co–existing with the 4C Gr.4, but I think it's safe to say those cases are rare. And so when an update adds a new (ish) Gr.3 car, it's effectively adding one car and subtracting one car from the car roster. Why would I want that, when I can have a unique road car added instead?

Ideally, having more cars means having more options and variety, but I barely even remember that the M3 GT and Z4 GT3 are in the game, or that an FF Mégane Gr.4 even exists. With Sport Mode's competitiveness, I think most people only go for the meta cars. So why is it that people yearn for a precious update car slot to be a modern GT3 racecar?

I was looking forward to the Ioniq. Too bad it will be useless in custom races (where I spend 95% of my time in GT7) thanks to the idiotic one-make restriction for EVs.

The F1 thing looks cool. Here's hoping it doesn't cost a small fortune at least.

It’s the natural order like real life GT3. Some series have “Trophy” categories for older GT3 cars. So those that can not participate in some races with newer cars can at least still use the older GT3 car they bought.
Recently, TCR Australia has done this for the 2025 TCR Australia events. Older cars can now participate in the same race for a different trophy. This keeps grid numbers up and allows basically privateer teams and/or owners/drivers a place to play.

For the Sport Mode Manufacturer choice in this game, it makes sense to select the newer car. I’d prefer a 2024 Vantgae GT3 to the 2012 model. I’d prefer the 296 GT3 to the 2013 model. Again, no problem in using one for a Nations or Daily Race, but to mimic current real world GT3, all the GT3 cars should be pretty much current models.

GR.4 as a different set up. Even though GT Sport’s explanation was that GR.4 is based on GT4, it’s more like Super Taikyu. All drive trains are in use in that series, in different classes. It’s problematic to have all GR.4 cars equal with so much discrepancy in performance. Either separate the drivetrains or make all drivetrains the same configuration or allow all cars to participate and offer awards based on best finisher according to drivetrain.

So just make more groups like modern gr3 and legacy gr3 etc Defenitly there is not enough groups in game. And question why people want in modern game have possibility to drive modern cars is rather strange ;)

Usually those estimates are done under scenarios where all modellers are available and working all business days/full time, but is a theorical number at the end because:

-People take vacations
-People take official holidays
-People get sick
-People have special permits (e.g.maternity/paternity leaves)
-Companies nowadays try to avoid crushing as much as possible
-Some cars can be more difficult to model than others
-Modellers usually works on several cars ar the same time (is not like they work months in a car solely)
-Licensing of cars can take time

Extra shots.

Love. Any initial colour will do. I guess many people don't understand many of these classic Japanese cars. Lightweight, easy to maneuver, rev happy, excellent visibility and pretty much no aids other than power brakes. That's what makes them so fun.
A major car company couldn't build a car today without some computer controlled hand holder.

Hagerty have an estimated price of $15,400 for the '89 USA spec.

It's nice to have a breather for low cost cars.

Getting Mercedes W196 vibes all over again
Pardon for the necroquote - and only now understanding your context now (re: F3500-A): The problem with the W196 event-wise in particular is that it would be a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation: if you don't give the event, the car would have nothing to race against (the status quo); but if it does have an event (like the cut Legend Car GP event), people may scoff at an event that requires expensive cars that are only occasionally available. (This is already happening with Neo-Classic Competition because of fuel wear, though engine swaps help sidestep that.)

You could do a one-make series like how Super Formula works. Although back in its day, F1 cars weren't spec of course, but it can still work for a classic F1 grid, imo. Maybe adjust the RA272 to be balanced against the W196 if you want other makes of cars to go against.

While we're waiting for the servers to be back up, can we talk about this approach at SSRX?

Uhhhh… potentially very exciting changes to FF and Physics!

Hopefully it's the Gr.B engines on the Evo 8 (since it'll be the car's second swap) and the GD Blobeye.

Reverse: NSX GT500 (Gr.3) and GT-One (Gr.2) got BoP'd against their favor for being older cars, too.

Did you know that at release there was a glitch with this plane where you could hear it, but couldn't see it? It was driving me mad that I was hearing something right above me, but couldn't find anything. Then I went to see the replay and there it was!

Ok, I had no idea that happened
