The way Jordan said it makes me think next update will be peak. Pikes... Peak. Confirmed!
There will be a lot to talk about even if it's just a cool returning car update, or Eiger Nordwand's other trails, but to invoke Pikes Peak?

...because it's clearly RED ROCK VALLEY TIME!

FINE...

FINE...

Almost fell outta' my chair seeing this post. Need a 💯 with another zero on the end of it

I'm afraid to move my previous post over to there lol It's something like a wishlist but also loosely grounded in a supposed B-Spec mode in the works? B-Spec mode being added back in would certainly classify as- to use Jordan's word.. Interesting choice in my eyes. And that Kaz has said endurance/longer races are coming? Forever ago, albeit. And from there, it's just some logical deductions on my part. Famine probably cursing Jordan for dropping that vague hint bomb.

Threads will be chaos for a month.

See I'm not sure if they would add B-Spec until Sophy A.I. is compatible with all tracks.
I suppose they could though.
If it's a key part to the longer Endurance Missions, then as long as it's available on those Mission circuits it would be fine if it's not available for every other track & layout immediately.

My main hope if those Missions are indeed still on their way, is that they can be repeatable for credits. Though they haven't done that for the ones in The Human Comedy, and that's been out for ages.
Other missions I can understand to an extent not having them repeatable for credits, but the proper races should be.

Will also add a disclaimer, it could very easily be that none of this has anything to do with the next update contents.

There's rumoured to be an upcoming State Of Play in February. If true, maybe something will be shown there if it's particularly juicy?

So i started a custom race for a few cool shots of all my custom civics together and most liveries were not uploaded! This wasn't the case when i was doing that on my pa4! I wonder what changed?

Honestly, was watching onboard Pikes Peak... it's no way PD does this on GT7... talking about rendering, it's so maaaany trees, so much distance to render. PS5 could handle it but no way PS4 does without it looking like Circuito de La Sierra...
Maybe they cut it in half like GT2? But it would be so so awesome if possible on the PS5, amazing track even if only tarmac now.

It kind of looks like Trial Mountain. Sure, there's a lot more distance to render, but sometimes it's less expensive to render great distances than to render a bunch of things up close, because at those distances you can't really make out much detail anyway so you can get away with rendering a blur.

Absolutely, look Eiger with the surroundings moutains or Mount Panorama, I don't think it would be an issue.

Also the mixed surface version of Pikes Peak was in the original Colin McRae Dirt, which was the Xbox 360 generation.
Admittedly it's not of the same graphical standards as modern games of course, but it does exist.

The biggest issue for modern development pipelines is unique asset creation, 4K assets take a ton of time to make. It's why city tracks like R246 aren't coming to anything - lots of trackside buildings you have to make in the same visual quality as everything else, none of which you can re-use at all because you need to match the real buildings.

Pikes Peak doesn't have that problem, trees are re-usable and are re-used all the time.

Always Sunny Shut Up GIF

We'll get Seattle some day. And Long Beach would be nice. Need some street circuits. Let me believe!

...Nope. Kaz did say the same thing in a 2022 interview: that city tracks would take too long to make in GT7's quality and that some kind of tech innovation is needed to speed things up.

Maybe we'll get R246 since it was in the datamine for Sport, but that's about it. =/

A tech innovation you say?
While it shouldn't be used at the expense of human artists, but rather as a tool to speed up "grunt work", I wonder if the ever-advancing technology of A.I. could be the innovation Polyphony need to make city circuits more viable in the future.

All of that makes sense until you realize there's a bunch of Tokyo Expressway tracks in the game. They're all based throughout a city..
My understanding (from reading this site/forums) is that they're more of a Tokyo Expressway vibe, and the buildings are procedurally generated, whereas the city tracks based on actual locations in past games (R246, London, Madrid, etc.) all featured the actual buildings, and that is why they are too labour-intensive to update for GT7
