This is of course a bit skewed by the fact that more recent cars have had less time for user content to be created. Also the W196R is only that low because of how expensive it is, combined with the fact that it's not always available to buy.
A similar reasoning also affects the BVLGARI VGT's numbers.

If I had to guess, it's because those companies have adapted to a more global or western target audience. And there's been a lot of turnover at the top level staff over the years. They've been forced to change their ways when the company(s) weren't doing very well. Mainly SE in those examples.

Polyphony on the other hand is still Kaz at the top and making the same single game on a single platform. I'm sure it's very old school. I honestly don't know what would happen if he isn't running the show. Where the series goes from there could be good or bad.

And saying all that, I'll note again that I hope this dev on Reddit doesn't get in trouble cause he's making the sort of broad/raw comments that tend to do that.

Anyway, it sounds like we're getting a new track this week from the way this dev is talking, or...? Would qualify for there being "a lot to talk about," really.

I think it's a big reach to interpret any of his words as even the slightest of hints.

I can see your line of thinking that him engaging with the community at this point in time might not be a coincidence, maybe this and the Jordan thing are very intentional breadcrumbs by PD to get us talking, but I doubt it.

Anyway I found his comment about "20+ people working 12 months on Grand Valley" extremely interesting. I would love to see a comparison figure for a similar real life track.

And companies like SE or Capcom made this change recently….like they understood that they really needed it. Let’s see what is going to happen.

And to add something….i would like they listen the community not on csr list or track list but more on QoL changes or game design choices to make the game better…for example why the hell we cannot adjust the cookpit view as we want or asjust the in game Hud as we want…i mean…little think that they can do in a few seconds if the just listen to us…

I think it has more to do with internal than external communication. You won't try to contradict your superior if you think he's wrong, and even if you think he would acknowledge issues here and there.
 
It's sad to hear PS4 is being that big of a limitation for what we get in the game. Making GT7 cross platform was a terrible decision by Sony. Maybe not for sales, I guess, but for quality of the game for sure. Maybe PS4 IS the reason why we don't have Pikes Peak after all. I think when cross platfrom was announced many believed it wasn't the intention from the very beginning. What if Pikes Peak was supposed to be in the game initially but was simply cut due to PS4 limitations?

It’s not just sales. The game released during a time where Sony for various reasons could not satisfy PS5 demand, and if there is one Sony title that is meant to enjoyed by the masses it’s Gran Turismo. It’s still a great game.
 
It's probably just not a simple direct comparision. It might work when everything inside the game is designed for PS4 with PS4 power in mind, but not work when one tries to fit a PS5 track within PS4 limits. We can speculate on what exactly it means, but either way that comment confirms there are internal difficulties fitting GT7 to PS4 and it affects what content we get.
While this may well be true in terms of limitations considering PS4, there really isn't much reasoning against developing any PS5 exclusive content like Sophy, VR and advanced graphic modes.
