Or they decide to build the next Gran Turismo in a real evolving platform like a real nowdays gaas. GT7 was a bit too shy in this sense.
In my opinion is not going to happen until Kaz will be around. Every Gt has his unique vibes, style and direction. Every Gt is different from the predecessor. It’s going to be fun the future

Gran Turismo always seemed like a great fit for Sony’s now failed GAAS push. I was honestly surprised how little GAAS GT7 was.

I expect the next one to lean heavily in post launch monetisation.

I feel that the only reason GT7 has microtransactions at all is just to meet a Sony mandate/checklist. Otherwise they would have been designed in a way that makes people actually likely to buy them.

It’s so weird. Gtsport had a post lunch Dlc and the mt had much more sense since you were able to buy the car you wanted for a more or less fair price.

Now that Michelin is officially out as GTWS partner, apparently it was pointed out that the deal was for five years (starting from 2019) and it happens that they didn't re-up:

It sounds like the deal will end after five years... Was that the agreement from the beginning?

Where did the video with the screencap originate, though?

MMX
I rather see them add to GT7, than come out with another game. It will only lead to, maybe they'll do such and such in GT9. When are they going to announce GT9? lol
Their is not much pd can do for gt7 at this point. The updates they bring is not enough for them to keep going for to long.

Gt7 is still hold back by ps4. Single player is proably not going to change.
A new gt title would bring in some more new hype for some new stuff.
It dosent mean that gt8 would be perfect either. Pd might as well just fail the career mode again. But if we see the return of gt league and not this menu book thing. It would be much more fun to have a new game than keep playing gt7

We do not see a GT league since GT5 practically 😂😂😂 crazy

GTSport was launched in October 2017 on PS4 an this was the base for GT7, which is already the newest Gran Turismo still yet. That means, that GT7 als almost 7,5 years old, based on that engine and it still looks amazing!
GT8 will be the next real next gen Gran Turismo, no matter if it will be released on PS5 (Pro) or PS6 - 2 generations again like before.
I hope, that we’ll see some new stuff soon from GT8, because until now not one single trailer or even picture were released.

We do not even know if it’s going to be called Gran Turismo 8.

Well, GT7 is still selling well but since Gt7 doesn’t have any content under pay wall they basically earn money just selling the base game and i suppose a small amount thanks to the micro transactions which are pretty useless. So they really need to pull out a new game if they still want to earn money.
I understand the business case and know that's probably why GT8 is coming down the pike, but I'm speaking just as a fan of the series. I personally wouldn't mind paying for a $20 expansion a couple times a year if it meant the base GT7 game would keep getting content and improvements. If we get a whole new title, my worry is that we'll have another multi-month or multi-year fiasco until it becomes worth playing, like what happened with GT7.

Agreed. They could add anything they want to GT7. Starting over with a new game just puts the player base, back to square one, hoping for improvements.

Spec 2 in my opinion was less than stellar. They could do a Spec 3, and add new features, missions, hell, the track creator would add a ton of replayability.

Edit: Seems like GT5 had a mix of free, and paid DLC, but I could be wrong. I mostly remember the Touring car pack that was paid DLC, and it was well worth it, for me atleast.

Would be nice to see Pirelli return as they are the major tyre partner for SRO GT. Especially with this recent announcement.
DHG makes its first appearance during the GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Prologue at Circuit Paul Ricard this week (March 10-11). Its competitive debut will then come at the same venue on April 11-13 when the GT2 European Series powered by Pirelli and GT4 European Series powered by RAFA Racing Club join their GT3 counterpart in France.

The tyre will then be rolled out across SRO’s various championships in Asia, America and Australia throughout 2025.

P Zero DHG’s predecessor, the DHF, has been the cornerstone of SRO’s global activities for the past three years. Its replacement includes a range of sizes per class, as well as innovations and materials that provide a wider working range, faster warm-up and greater consistency in terms of car balance over long distances.

The new GT2 and GT4 spec tyres also feature those materials, as well as a new carcass with an optimised profile and construction that ensure a more uniform footprint across all track conditions for all cars.

The arrival of DHG also completes Pirelli’s overhaul of a GT range that includes the Cinturato WHB wet tyre. Introduced in 2024 solely for GT2 cars and in some championships also GT3, the latest evolution of Pirelli’s treaded tyre will be the standard across the board for all GT cars in SRO’s main championships.
Maybe we see an announcement in the near future with a new tyre partner and tyre physics update.

Maybe that's why we don't get any new additions like a Proper Career or B-Spec, they keep it for the next GT Title...
To me it’s more about:
1. Keep supporting Ps4 with all the consequences.
2. Not releasing any GR3/4 cars
3. Keeping the sport mode the same from gtsport

That’s why the next GT is not that far away

I'm still lost on what exactly caused Pirelli to suddenly vanish from the tire sticker selection in GT7.
Licensing...and legalities
The weird thing about it is that Pirelli is still credited in licensor credits, ostensibly for cars that has Pirelli sidewalls (BAC Mono and Lamborghini Veneno, among others). There's also the Pirelli ad at Interlagos.

Also, I noticed that one of the DTM Special Event opponents has a Pirelli logo on the car (by rule, these opponents use only built-in sponsors - barring the RTL Alfa, which was made out of built-in shapes):
