Gran Turismo 7 Livery Editor - General Discussion Thread

In Midnight Club 3, the Chevrolet Monte Carlo can be customized with unique livery; one of the game's shopkeepers also owns it with said livery that can be seen in some cutscenes. Since it's one of my favorite liveries, I attempted to recreate it (with some adjustments) for the Chevy Nova, as there is no Monte Carlo in the GT7 yet.

Another livery done. Nothing too fancy but pain in the butt due to lack of information and only a handful of blurry photos. One decal I couldn't tell what it was and whatever the name of the crew chief was I couldn't read it. Also interesting that the DARE logo looks like it's maybe of an older design but I couldn't find any record of it on Google.

Dal-Tech 300ZX that competed in the SCCA World/Escort Challenge and from 1990-1994.

I've been trying to get this tag to work in one piece, and the gradient keeps showing as just white in the game. The odd part is, I can upload just the gradient by itself, and it works.

Any ideas what I need to do, to get this in as one piece? The file is more than small enough, at 13.9kb.

Edit: Not 100% sure what did, but got it to work.

I have a "problem". I decided to paint in blue again the Red Bull livery. Not opaque this time.

I can use carbon parts with this livery since I'm using one decal for the whole body.

The "problem" is that I thought "huh, maybe I don't need the carbon parts if I can get a nice special color?". And the result is this:

So now I don't know if I want the opaque, the dark blue or the special light blue. I also don't know if I want chromed, gold or black wheels. :banghead:

But I must say I'm quite happy with my "first-complete" GT7 livery. Working on a Gr.4 car now and I'll probably try one of the fictional companies.

I was about to say you could use more help at the SVG thread. Good that it's working now!

Wow, a Pirelli decal I used disappeared.
Yeah that’s a weird one. Pirelli is still in the game but removed from the livery editor. Including the tire stickers.

So the only way to get Pirelli branding on the tires is by using the default tire stickers on cars that come with Pirellis. Then downloading user decals for placing around the car.

Alright gents. It's just past 3 AM. Another one done. Don't know why I'm doing this to myself.

#94 Hikari Werks Toyota Supra. Participated in the 1998-1999 SCCA World Challange seasons. Driven by David Schardt who is the owner or co-owner of Forgeline Wheels. The car took 4th in the 1999 championship but that was the end of it due to heat issues and Toyota pulling sponsor support (because they stopped selling the Supra.) David would later be reunited with the car and restore it. You can read about it here in this Motortrend article and I found an old "Turbo" magazine article scan on MKIV.com.

This is based on the more recent photos of the car. I couldn't find a wheel in the game that captured the look of the original 5-spoke yellow wheels quite right. There's one decal I didn't do: "Xtreme Paint Body somethin" on the hood. Can barely see it in any pics. Eh, I can't be bothered lol

Edit: Duh, noticed I missed duplicating the TRD decal. Fixed.

Any pros in here have tips for doing a drop shadow on text? Except the text is already paths and I've had to draw edits to the letters etc.

Using the actual drop shadow effect I think it incompatible with the decal uploader.. or maybe I did get it to work and I can't remember.. regardless, I'm not looking for a fade.

Trying to do like the solid extrusion. 3D extrusion obviously doesn't work since it makes the file huge. Trying to use the Blend tool but it's making the file like 150kb and SVGOMG can only trim it down a little.

Using Illustrator. I'm a noob. But it's frustrating how I'm trying to do something so seemingly simple and I can't or I have to spend hours to do it.

Duplicate the text layer, save it as a separate file, and set all the fills to black. Use it in game and change the opacity, put it behind the original decal. This is the easiest way.

edit: you won't get the blurred edge of a drop shadow, to do that, you'd need to create additional decals with a contour expanding the perimeter of the decal, and set each on to something like 15% opacity, so you can layer them up behind the main decal.

Was actually just about to edit my post and say I started doing it over and I can get the shadow down from 22 to 17kb via SVGOMG. It's all white. Does black make a difference? lol

Suppose I can try to separate the three words.

If you upload th files (the original, and the SVG), we can see what you're trying to achieve.

SCCA World Challenge Viper GTS. The Archer brothers (Bobby and Tommy) seemed to campaign at least 2 of these through the late 90s. #32 was driven by Bobby Archer.

This is based on what very little I could find from the 2000-ish season? Zero pictures of the back or roof of the car. Two sponsor decals I could not identify behind the rear wheel. Had to take some creative liberties with this one.
