Gran Turismo 7 Livery Editor - General Discussion Thread

I wish we could copy number plates. I'm falling apart just completing one even though I used a rectangle shape made into a line to place the letters neatly.

One thing that helps is to duplicate an existing number, just tap to the right (so it's in line with the previous) and then swap in the new number. The SVGs need to also be roughly the same height the box, but this is how I do it.

I've built this twice now. When finished the first time I didn't stencil the globe and decided to go back in and try that. I ended up corrupting the save. So here's the second attempt. UPS brown stenciled over metallic gold. I wanted to make a modern interpretation of the 993/996 Carrera Cup cars based on my modern Carrera Cup template.

2022 K-PAX Racing Lamborghini Huracan GT3 - Cars #1 and #3

First livery post on here so I hope it isn't too shabby, I did my best to recreate the current liveries that are being used by the K-PAX Racing team in their endeavours to defend their GT World Challenge America title this year.

Considering the fact that, if you take a closer look at their cars irl, you can very clearly see that both #1 and #3 have bare carbon showing up on several areas around the chassis. Since I'm a sucker for that sort of thing and I'll be racing a league that's going to try and imitate GTWC America, I thought I may as well make a livery or two to embrace the mood (although I'm not particularly sure that my driving skills will be able to handle the Huracan in the current physics model). Look good, drive good... hopefully. 😎

In order to recreate #1 and #3 I found the only viable option for making it look believable was to start off with a carbon paint chip, and then mask around it to slowly get the bare carbon parts and also the see through mesh pattern on the rear quarter (espescially noticeable on #1). I also applied a semi-transparent solid grey on the roof of the #1 to try and mimic the shiny appearance of it irl. Not going to lie it was quite time consuming but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out in the end, ended up even maxing out the layer count on the body so to say I cut it close is an understatement.

Anyhow, here they are, I hope you like them! (I'll also link them below in case anyone would like to grab one or both of the liveries sometime)

Quick display of what parts of the car display the special paint chip using a slight more vivid solid colour for better visibility.

Need For Speed Team Schubert Z4 GT3 #77 (2011 N24h)

My entry for the current LEC, a replica of one of the three ill-fated Z4's of Need For Speed Team Schubert from the 2011 running of the 24h of Nurburgring. I've set this up so I can easily make the other two cars (and the subsequent years entries too, watch this space!).

Anyone else having the issue where bright green brake calipers are appearing on liveries/styles?

To be honest, I’ve only noticed it on cars I’ve done engine swaps on…… because apparently engine swaps are cool now.

Yeah it's an issue with the update. Everyone's cars are showing with green brake calipers...

Tried to replicate the MadMike RX7 with the RX3 frontend. Took very long but I'm really not satisfied with the frontend. Grill is way too wide I guess

As @MatskiMonk says above, stickers to imitate bodywork is a contentious issue. But I can appreciate your efforts here! I bet that took a fair while!!

That said, what Mad Mike did with this is sacrilege in my eyes. He's taken a JDM icon and slapped on the front of a car which has absolutely zero design correlation with it. Don't get me wrong, I'm a massive fan of the RX-3, and the RX-7, but they shouldn't ever be mixed together like this (in my humble opinion!). It's like taking a '69 Camaro front end and dropping it onto a C6 Corvette body, or the front end of an Audi A80 onto an R8. The combination is just mad. And some madness should never be shared...

Call me a purist or a buzzkill, but Mad Mike made a monster there, and not in a good way... 🤣🤪

It's because I'm good :D (I'm joking.. obviously)
I really like it on the 963 though.

EDIT: I've just noticed I forgot to put back the Ansys and Tag Heuer logos on the bonnet :boggled:
I mean... you are. Even if I don't always agree with the idea, your execution is consistently of a high quality.

It's the front end that makes the entire car fall apart for me. LMPs in general don't do much for me but the headlight placement on the 963 make it look like a poor Automation render.

Well.. thank you :embarrassed:
I like the 963 livery but I don't really care about the car itself. And LMPs in general. That's why I never make LMP replicas, and why I picked the RSR for this livery.

I'm getting Lancia vibes from the front somehow
Hahaha that's exactly what I thought aswell, after I finished this Livery 😂

Just for your information: it isn't even MadMikes fault. Rocket Bunny released the 'BOSS' series of their bodykit which take retro frontends. RX7 got the RX3 frontend and the Nissan 240sx got a Nissan Sunny B110 frontend (which looked more like a cheap Challenger replica)
And as RocketBunny is a sponsor of MadMike, they wanted him to promote their BOSS kits.

Also just out of curiosity: why is it an issue to imitate Bodywork?
Just want some input of you guys :)

I mean, for me it's a great way to replicate cars we don't have:

Because painted on headlights are not headlights, and imitation wide fender flares are not wide fender flares. 😉🤪

If I put rockets on the side of my car, even if they're "3D effect" as soon as you get anything but side on angles it doesn't look like a rocket anymore.

That's just my view on it though man. You do you!

I didn't realise that was a Rocket Bunny creation. Those guys are mental cases. Haha!

So yesterday i discovered that while you are in the editor, that you can search for decals, and add them to your favourite folder.
Is this a new thing or did i miss this option?

As in, search for them in the Showcase search but in the editor menu? Because that would be something I never knew about...
And the favourites thing - I found you could only add your own decals as a favourite, none of the preset or collection decals would work. At least the last time I checked.
