No idea what it is:

Sorry for that stupid question, but how do we know its 420 cars?
PlayStation Blog
And it's 420+

Thanks for the answer! I had hoped it would be a bit more. The "+" is most definitely because more will be added with downloadable content, so, pretty sure it will be 420 at launch. Still good enough. Can't expect GT4 amount of cars with that high detail.

The + is most likely indicates there will be from 421 to 429 cars
Though it can also mean they have 420 ready and may add more until March

Look to the top right, it's the 2019 Supra. :)
Honestly, I was wondering if both the 2019 and 2020 models of the GR Supra were going to be added together or not. Really don't mind if they keep both since their specs are somewhat different (not by much). And on that note, I think the same will happen with the Renault Clio RS's (2015 and 2016 models).

I can't really tell. You could be right - the bonnet vent would probably be further forward on an Evo 7-9 (though it doesn't look scoopy enough for a Scooby), and I think the lights and wing stanchions aren't right for an Evo either.
I'm honestly in the camp on that being a 22B Impreza on the count I disagree with you on the scoop. The light relflections indicate to me of it being a scoop more than being a flat air vent like on the 2nd Gen Evos:

The other thing is that the front looks a bit too flat to be an Evo 7-9. The front ends on the 2nd Gen evos are more sloped compared to the car in that screenshot.

Though I hope I'm wrong in this case, because I would love to see a 2nd Gen Evo in GT again. Preferrably an Evo VII since I haven't seen that in a racing game in a long time. I already had enough exposure of the Evo VIII and IX thanks to Forza and Project Cars.

@Famine, any chance we get some sort of identifier in the list to show which are new cars to the series?

No rush, mind you.
Yeah, seems like a good idea. On the Guide page I've flagged cars new to GT7 (as in "not in GTS"), though a few are of course returnees from GT6.

That hard shoulder line, jutting door sill, pop-up headlights, and horizontal running light scream FC RX7. The S4 generation in particular didn't have fog lights, and unlike the US car the JDM version's "lights" below the headlights actually lit up separately and weren't just a portal to flash the high beams through. The American amber driving light/blinker is below that.

And not all S4 Turbos came with a wing. The Japanese market only got the turbo engine, even the base model with steel wheels.

GTS only has the S5 Turbo but older games like 4 and 6 also had the S4 generation with no wing.

Based on the lack of lit foglights it might be an S4 Turbo, like that all-white 10th Anniversary edition. Or maybe PD chose not to light the fogs.

So the 917 Living Legend a Group 1 car? The release trailer appeared to show it on a Group 1 grid alongside the Tomahawk.

There are some Gr. X vehicles there such as the Jaguar VGT SV, and the Bugatti VGT there is actually the original version, not its Gr. 1 counterpart, if you look closely at the windshield.

Didn't notice that. I just thought I noticed the Group 1 Tomahawk. And given that the actual 917 Living Legend is a clay model, whatever class it's running in (Could very well be Group X) it's probably running a spec sheet pulled from thin air.

In this current car list, we have 100 of these cars in GT Sport. The three questionable cars, are the model years of the Diablo, Yaris and the GR86 RZ trim level. That would leave us with 97 cars from GT Sport.

Any guesses? Maybe the 2020 Supra in that blue color?

Don’t forget the F-Type right next the 991.

The Diablo is a 2000, that leaves two cars.

@Famine How do you know for certain that it’s a Ford and not Jeep?

The Alfa Romeo 155 DTM is all-wheel drive, making it illegal for Gr. 3, and is potentially faster than Gr. 3 cars around a track, so maybe Gr. 2 because it's a high-performance touring car?
The Alfa should actually be quite a bit slower than current GT3 cars. The only comparable track time I found (most tracks they raced on back then have been rebuilt to some extent, so it's hard to find a comparable time) was from Zolder 1993, and that's about 10s slower than GT3's today.

And it actually makes sense - it's got about 100hp less than a GT3 car, and although it weighs a bit more than 100kg less, that should not be enough to make up for it.
