Well after watching that trailer the only conclusion I came to is that GT7 is a LONG way off, since all they could slap together for a big reveal trailer was one circuit, a few nostalgia menus and the exact same HUD as GTS.

It's clearly not even close to being done, or they'd have something better than that to start with. Very amateur by PD standards.

See you all in three years when this is ready to release.

While we're obsessing, here's another interesting tidbit, which I believe Andrew was referring to in his latest article:

Most of these thumbnails are probably showing Trial Mountain... But not all. Especially the FR Challenge one, Trial Mountain definitely doesn't have a hairpin like that. I'm not sure about the Clubman one either. Any ideas? Autumn Ring maybe??
FR Challenge shows the last corner before the final chicane, the angle of the picture coupled with the elevation change just makes it look tighter than it is.

Except that GT7 will have the online portion taken directly from GT Sport. GT Sport’s online portion is the online portion of GT7.

Yeah, screw that. It pisses me off
You are probably in the minority in thinking this, most people I've seen love the Sport mode, there's people the reccommend GT Sport based on that game mode alone.

Which I don't know why you're complaining like it'll be the only online mode, the same old online lobby system from the past 3 GT games will still be here most likely.
I’m going to be the stick in the mud and point out how awful that render is.

The tearing and jagged edges of that 917 is pretty atrocious. Not to mention the downsampled livery.

Let’s also look at the “real-time” ray tracing. The refections in the mirrors looks like a very low 540p render.

Then look at the people, they look like PS3 characters.

I think, honestly, this whole trailer is a giant failure.

GT7 looks like a complete piece of crap.

7 effin years and this is what they have. Pure crap imo

Texas Motor speedway is already in GT Sport, Northern Isle.
Nothing other than the fact that they designed it to look exactly like it.
Oh yeah, it looks EXACTLY like Texas Motor Speedway aside from the layout, size, asphalt, grandstands, pitlane, banking, and road width.

If anything, NorthernIsle is like Bristol or Martinsville.

Must be something with comprehension around here.

I love GT Sport... I'm just not going to buy a new game to play the exact same online races on the same servers. Why is that so hard to get?

Hinting dynamic lightning..?

I would say say yes, I think they put in the things that people have been asking for in the trailer. Only thing they did not hit for me was a date and track editor. Well physics and ai but that should be a given. With the head room in the ps5 I would hope they can do more in these areas. I remember reading somewhere that the processing power to do ai in a gt way took up a lot if power that they wanted else where but this memory is a little cloudy.

Also, I seriously hope those are all placeholder. If they just release the same old crap "select a race from a menu" GT Mode with the same exact races for the 7th time I certainly ain't interested.

It's not 1998 any more PD. I want an offline career mode, but I don't want the exact same one over and over again.

I imagine that the Livery Editor will be filed under GT Auto, so it doesn’t quite surprise me that it’s not seen on the map featured in the gameplay reveal. GT Auto has rims, aero kits, paint jobs, and other services, so the Livery Editor would make the most sense there.
Yeah I agree, I don't know what's the fussing over Livery Editor here. GT Auto is the home of car customization, and Livery Editor would make sense to be there. Actually, one of my wish before was if GT Auto returned, Livery Editor would be inserted there.....

What do you mean by same races? The same track or same event? Or same track/event combo?
Sorry, I'm not fully understanding.

Well, we're off to a start on that GT7 wish list,
👍 Trial Mountain
👍 Menus and offline options reminiscent of GT1-4
? Isamu Ohira's excellent menu soundtrack
👍 TRIAL MOUNTAIN
👍 Oil Change and Car Wash buttons
? Other original tracks we yearn to return
👍 Morsche Porsche
? The PPIHC, which we haven't had for 20 years but has been sponsored by GT for a while now
? That 2500-10000 km2 track editor that was announced for GT6 yet was obviously impossible at the time, but may no longer be. Eh, maybe GT9...

I considered that too, but the location is a bit off? Well, the whole map is a bit weird anyway.

The FR track is without any doubt, Grand Valley. It's the corner after the soft S in the Speedway layout.

By the time GT7 is released GT sport is at least 5 years old without any major updates on cars and tracks...

You will buy a new game with updated and new tracks and cars by then and if not then you will switch when the servers are turned off.

Sorry, I'm not fully understanding.

The career structure of "pick a race from Sunday/Clubman/FF/FR Cup, race, repeat" has literally been in place since Gran Turismo 1. It was fine in 1997, but in 2020 gamers rightly expect something with a bit more nuance and meat to it. Some games do it by including a story, some by modelling some sort of championship or road to glory, and there's for sure other ways that haven't been tried yet. Pretty much anything to provide some framework or context around the player's races, otherwise it's little more than a curated list of free races which a lot of people tend to find pretty dry and dull. Gran Turismo 6's career mode was not exactly something that I would hold up as a highlight of great game design.

Gran Turismo is not the only game with this problem. Forza Motorsport has it too, and most of the "hardcore" sims provide very little structure to the player at all. But "hardcore" sims are targeted at a specialised audience that can be assumed to have very high natural engagement with the gameplay style, and will likely create their own gameplay and goals. Gran Turismo is supposed to be accessible to all, and that means providing something engaging for people who aren't bowled over purely by fancy graphics and slinky physics systems.

The servers will not be turned off.

GT Sport Live will remain.

GT7 online is just GT Sport online. It's the same game.

Okay, my apologies. With that said, we don't even even know if they're the same. The servers could have been revised for all we know, this was just one trailer.

Not to mention, it doesn't make any sense that GT7's Sport mode servers can connect to GT Sport's. GT7 will have new content that GT Sport doesn't have and not to mention possibly new features included in the Sport mode.

What do you mean? This is the first time ever, in the history of GT7, brand new content... for GT7!:sly:

I'd also like to point out, players MIGHT need a National A licence to progress. :scared: Wonder how that'll be accepeted by the Sport Mode only players.

Makes sense. I'd have to agree. It PD wants to stick to their same career mode formula but make it better, I'd say add more variety to the racing and events and include tiers or unlockables for better sense of progression.

No it won't. Its going to be the same class of cars. GT4 to Gr1, with one offs. Same recycled tracks as in GT Sport. I feel like I am repeating myself, over and over I have said this so many times now.

The game is coming out in a few months and they aren't going to kill their only PS4 title, both games, same online system. It's VERY obvious with the GT Sport Live icon. Both games WILL have the same online races.

I think

Cars: 400-500 (100 - 150 more)

Tracks: 35 (3 new / 3 classic)

Trial Mountain
Deep Forest
Grand Valley
Daytona
Real world circuit 2
Real world circuit 3

Based on GT6 content from GT5, but could be more since they are outsourcing?

and you're going to be repeating yourself again, because there's no indication of that at all. and I'll repeat myself too, it would NOT make any sense to do so when Gran Turismo 7 will have more content than GT Sport. Not unless there's one seperate, "cross-play" mode or something just so players can play with each other. However, that has NOT been confirmed.

Except that they have done it already...twice. GT5's servers went offline within a year when GT6 came out and as soon as GT Sport came out, GT6's online servers were dead within a year aswell. Whenever GT7 releases, GT Sport's online servers will have at best 2 years before being taken down and I'm only saying that for Sony to give players time to move on to a new console generation.

Also, it's just a name indicating a game mode. The mode will be the same likely, but will probably recieve updates to it. What updates? I don't know, maybe new race classes based on the content added. However, just because the name is the same; doesn't mean anything.

EDIT: Also, where the 🤬 did you come up with "a few months" for a game release? There has been no confirmation of a release date.

1) You don’t know that
2) You don’t know that
3) You don’t know that
4) They didn’t give any type of release window
5) They’ve had no issues killing the remaining game on old hardware months after a new title releases before
6) How can a game that is literally a different title that will most likely be using much more power and running at different frame rates than the PS4 be compatible with crossgen multiplayer
7) TIL if you reuse a logo and a name it means you’ve reused the whole thing from a prior game. I guess that means if I click Sunday Cup I get transported back to GT2

Yeah, no.

GT7 is going to drop within the year, that's a fact.
