a better AI for custom races ... that would correspond in my own expectation to a BIG update... and I am not pretending a full Sophy at this time but merely an AI corresponding to the 700P Le Mans event... come on PD !! , stop the rubber banding .. it is since GT4 we are looking forward to it ... or am I wrong ?
It's more a priority to have higher payouts in custom races than better AI right now.

Just another 40-odd hours of wild speculation to go! :D
Oh how easy it is to stir us up with the word "big"! All that's certain is VR2 support and four cars, which is big, but not everyone's idea of big.
Maybe a new location, maybe those Nürb layouts, maybe a non-VR car inspection mode or some other feature, surely some events.
I've finally accepted that pattern recognition will do me no good here (David Hume was on to something) so I concede. There could be another IMSA track, or a GT Original, or Pikes Peak, or nothing, or anything! PD like their unusual surprises, who saw Tomica Town coming?

And what's wrong with the ai in that event? Watching the ai not know what rain is and watching them sliding all over the place when a little rain drops its part of the fun of that event.

I've seen people mention having multiples of the same car before.

I've always wanted to ask so I'll ask now: what's the purpose of having multiples of the same car? How does that work?

I'm starting to think I'm missing something.

Only cars that I really like I have multiples of cars like.

I have 20 P1 GTR's no explanation needed here.:embarrassed:

I have 6 F1 GTR's cause next to the p1 gtr I love the F1 GTR.

I would have 20 fxxk but that's a sad story.:(

Tourist trophy2 + vr2 anyone? :D

When I see old porsches I remember nfs porsche and want to drive (not race!) them on country roads (from point a to b) with different weather conditions ._.

1 stock, 1 fully tuned, 1 for mildly tune.

I definitely have a problem.
Hmm.
I don't think you need more than 2:
  • 1 stock/no irreversible tunes
  • 1 for irreversible tunes such as body weight reduction and engine bore up. This does not apply to race cars as they don't have any irreversible tunes.
And then in some cases an extra for engine swaps.
So, the way I figure you need a second copy for a limited number of cars.
As I have all the cars I want now (only about 80% of cars interest me, no VGT, no safety cars, no fictional GrB rally cars), I am starting to buy second copies of the cars I like from my surplus credits. I think that's only for about a 100 cars.

? Which cars don't have an interior model? I've driven pretty much everything the game has to offer and all of them have an interior.

Am I missing some of them maybe?
Peugeot VGT (the first one, not the fake one) and it's Gr3 variant
Mini VGT (a car that really should have a Gr.B variant)
Lexus VGT (a car that really should have a Gr.2 variant)
Mitsubishi VGT
Subaru VGT
Aston Martin VGT (very popular grind choice back in the day for GT7, which the lack of interior didn't stop people)
Infiniti VGT
Mercedes VGT's (which is weird since I recall the Hamilton edition in GTsport giving it the AMG GT3's interior?)
Zagato VGT
VW Supersport VGT (the version with a roof)(and one that has a cut Gr.B variant in GTsport)
BMW VGT (well in this case it's fair as they were too lazy to make a new car haha)(and also a car that should have a Gr.3 variant)
Toyota SF-R Racing Concept

There are 49 VGTs in the game as of the December update and just less than a ¼ of them lack an interior

What are your expectations for the new cars prices? Mine is:
-DS19/21:100000
-Porsche RS 2.7: 700000
-NewVGT?: 1000000
-Honda F1: 2750000
For a grand total of 4.55 M credits
The price of the F1 car is pretty much made(based on the mp4/4 price) up since estimating is hard

Actually, there's 4+ possibilities:

-1 Stock (maybe with the addition of reversible parts like tyres, turbos, wings, skirts, etc)
-1 Fully Tuned (literally everything you can buy to upgrade it)
-1 Fully Tuned but without the widebody (Top Speed version basically, since the widebody is non reversible and it creates drag on top speed runs)
-1 For an engine swap
-1 For an engine swap with no widebody (Top Speed)

Not all cars are like this though (some cars don't have widebody available like the Black Series AMG GT-R for example). This only applies to most Road Cars. But it still would be a lot of effort to make this with the more expensive cars.

Imagine all of this with the McLaren F1 road car.

... So only VGTs.

No worries then. PD can continue with whatever they are doing instead. :)

The SF-R is weird though since the concept car does exist and has an interior IRL. Maybe Toyota didn't allow them to reveal it in the game for whatever reason.

Even in the current economic climate, after a recent price increase, Sony are forecasting record PS5 sales, with 30% of new owners never having owned a PS4. Even when tightening their belts, people are prepared to purchase quality products. That will also be the case with PS VR2. There'll be many years of support ahead for those who are not Day 1 buyers.
Totally deflecting from what I said. You said a "significant" portion of GT7 users will buy PSVR2. Now you are saying PSVR2 is a quality product that is worth buying. Those are mutually exclusive points.

PSVR2 may be a quality product that some people feel is worth purchasing. However, that does not, in any way, correlate to a "significant" portion of the GT7 community buying PSVR2 to play a game that they currently have been playing for a year.
PD are under no obligation to release content on any schedule but their own. In Japan staff often take extended holidays into January. It's perfectly reasonable to suggest content will be rolled into the 1.29 PS VR2 update. They may even roll-out PS VR2, then a substantial content update for the One Year Anniversary.
I recall a year back when everyone was giving PD a HUGE bit of leeway because the game will be updated to it's "full potential" over many years.

We've had some content updates since then which, let's face it, pales in comparison to the update the previous titles were given in that time frame. Again, the PSVR2 team is SONY, not PD. PD is the Gran Turismo team. Their only responsibility is to make sure the game supports PSVR2. They aren't the people working on making the hardware. SOOO, yet again, the question is asked, what have they been doing all this time sine they don't seem to be making much of a game?

BTW, I still can't load any ghost laps even though I could save them since day 1...you'd think ONE programmer could be sparred to enable this 25 year old CORE feature. Maybe their fancy shmancy new AI will actually be added to the game....or maybe we just get empty promises like we always get.

I know, I know....they are "working" on GT8 which will be released in 4 years.
By all means expand on that. I've posted plenty about Sony & PD's vision for the franchise, new hardware & platform support, commercial performance, future developments etc. As I recall you where adamant GT7 was dead after 3 months, PD where on life support, Sony fudging funding/numbers etc. Here we are, a year on from release, GT7 riding high in the PS5 charts, the talk of the sim community, and spearheading Sony's PS VR2 launch. Oh, and a Hollywood movie on the way.
I believe you just expanded on my "fanboy" comment for me :D

I hope im around and many of you as well when the Playstation/home console run ends and PD tells us when the end of GT is occuring. Aside from the obvious end of the series for fans with the release of GT7[based on the majority of the discourse of the last year] when the higher ups admit it's over it will be very interesting to see what the mood is. Haha this place is too entertaining from so many angles, thank you all 😂

Anyway excited for the update and new toys to play with and somewhat curious for March to see if anything special comes about.

The best AI I’ve seen in the game are in the “chili pepper” events, such as the GT3 event at Suzuka.

My only wish is that they would have some more variety of these, and some with higher payouts so they could be legit worthwhile “grind” events.

I think the reality is that those events only appeal to the top 10% of players. We think it’s higher because most of the people that participate in these forums are in that 10%.

I also agree with the suggestion to have weekly single player seasonal events. Really enjoyed those in GT5.

What do you even mean by this? You can do that, and have been able to do so for months, it was added somewhere near launch.
It should've launched with the ability sure, but it's disingenuous to keep spreading disdain towards the developers for "still" not having a feature that's actually in the game.

You can even download ghosts from uploaded replays in the Showcase, and chase them.
