How big was the committee that sat down to redesign GV?

The original layouts had flow and were fun. This version has little flow and is unnecessarily complicated. The old environment had a depth of elements. This one is a barren wasteland. They didn't even keep that iconic arched bridge! Why?

My hope is that PDI doesn't do the same thing to Mid-Field or any of the other classic locations.
I don't mind having a "highway" type course, but the extreme similarity of the layout makes it obvious we're not going to get a proper racetrack style rendition of Grand Valley Speedway in this generation, which really upsets me. The original was the Spa of fictional circuits, this one feels like an Assetto Corsa mod. :indiff:

Definitely the best addition to this update:

And I have a 1:64 scale model too!

I'm not so impressed with Grand Valley Highway to be honest. I really want to like it but it just does not work for me. I mean I get the re-design but why did they choose a barren arid coastal location mostly consisting of brown dirt and gray rocks for the track? There is just nothing going on. The original Grand Valley speedway was set in an area with lots of trees, foliage, green hills - it looked beautiful. The iconic long right hander with the arches and a great view at distant hills and a lush green landscape got completely downsized ending in an ugly tight tunnel - and where is the iconic bridge? There are so many details just missing....

Also the last 3rd of the track has weird cambers, blind turns and feels cramped altogether.

I have been playing Gran Turismo since the first game and I have to say this is the worst version of this track so far. :indiff:

I liked the OG Grand Valley more tbh. The new one is allright but not the same. I feel like the changes in sector 3 especially are pretty terrible. Also much less gravel runoffs in sector 1 which I definitely miss. Also lacks the flow from the old track. The scenery is a two edged sword, it does makes the new circuit feel like a street track and personally I am not a huge fan of those, but that is just me.

Whereas the old track had a bit of a Spa vibe and big grandstands at the start/finish line & sector 1, to sell out the illusion of an actual race track that exists somewhere, which I really liked. Grand Valley Highway 1, well I like to call it Grand Cliff Highway 1 because it is technically not in a valley anymore lol, it does have some fantastic views, so pretty. And the reworked T1 is fun imo. This new track feels like one for the road/sports cars or old race cars. So beautiful and out in the open, but deadly. Gr3 and faster race cars I am not too thrilled about on this track. I felt like the old layout had good passing chances in sector 1, but now it feels even more tough. Especially sector 2. I guess I'll see how it is after I race a few times here against something else than AI 🤔 South layout has much better flow to it and I find it pretty good, but again the last corner and a bit of the track feels a bit meh.

Regarding cars, did not try them all yet, didn't have the time plus I wanted to do most of the new single player events, time trial and circuit experience. I've gotta say the RA272 is the best car they have added to this game imo. Sounds great and genuinely tough to drive, but not too tough. And it is easy to tune out to your liking too. It is genuinely most fun with sports tires imo, to give it more of the vintage F1 car vibe, where you can drift around a bit, without losing too much time.

Feels like an 8/10 update. Grand Valley could have been better and we desperately need even more single player content (more single player championships, an endurance race or two 3+ hours, Super GT races..) and better rewards for whatever they add. Like even making all they added this time x1,5 to x2 cr payment, would have made them somewhat worth it do again occassionally. Also I wish they made Sophy for us PS4 players, but can't have everything I guess. Other than that a great update 👌

I´m not agree.
This game in PS4 is almost unplayable on some tracks, like Spa or Nurburing 24h.
And the loading times...
Also, graphically is a lot worse on PS4
I play the game every day on PS4 and a week ago i jump to PS5 and oh my god, is a totally different thing
Unplayable? Really?
Wow.

I'd like to know all the possible colors for the 911 Carrera RS. For 700k+ credits, I want to get the one I like most. I want the one with the red livery, but the game is offering me the blue...

7.3GB. yowza. Going to have to turn the PS5 on at lunch time so its ready by the end of the work day!
I thought it was going to take hours to download, but it ended up taking 9 minutes...

You don't think its odd that the casino always pays you the lowest amount?
In my experience, the roulette chances feel right. I have had a handful that gave me cars, and some that gave the second highest reward. I don't think each reward is meant to have equal chance. Obviously the better ones are going to have lower chance.

The only substantial change to the layout (not visuals, layout) of the track is toning down the elevation changes and the turnaround after the long bridge (at what is now the north end of the track). That's it. I still find it quite "flowy" and certainly fun; after only 5 laps around the full course it's easily in my top 5 favorite GT7 layouts.

I so far like Sophy the most, at least its a progressive challenge and fun. But whyyyyy are the race payouts still so ****** :((( They're borderline insulting. I get screwed on roulette everyday, can the races at least be rewarding? Add a ****'in extra 0 to all the payouts PD, at least it would be somewhat worth the time!!!

$45,000 or $67,000 for an easy 2 lap race isnt good enough for you..? really?? 🤷‍♂️

also, how do you "get screwed" by being given a FREE daily gift for doing something you were going to do anyway...? (play the game)

I'll repeat what I said about the new Grand Valley Highway 1 course from the main discussion thread here:

I honestly can get an idea of what Polyphony Digital was thinking here and I like it to some degree. They saw California's Highway 1 driving road and wanted to adapt it as a race track, it's kinda in the same vain as a lot of the fictional real-location based tracks such as Seattle Circuit, Tokyo R246, or Eiger Nordwand. PD also wanted to re-imagine Grand Valley as something different while maintaining the layout for the most part. So, this new "Grand Valley" is the result.

As a circuit, I actually enjoy it quite a bit. There's some issues on a few turns, but I think it's still a fun experience overall. I love the scenery including the bridge overlooking the ocean and seeing the various cliftsides. I like the downhill going into some of the corners and I still feel some things familiar about this track where I can see it as Grand Valley. It's just more like a rebooted version.

Though despite me saying that, I miss the original layout. I mean, over the years; the scenary of the classic layout had a charm of its own. From its grassy hills, blue bridge, fun swooping corners, and the little pond you drove by before the first tunnel. It held many classic Gran Turismo races that make it forever a favorite. With rebooting the track, Polyphony sacrificed the original in doing so. Leaving a bittersweet feeling for this experience, which I can also feel with Trial Mountain and Deep Forest.

I don't think remaking the track only without leaving the original version as an option was the best way, there's no reason that they couldn't have still remade the classic version aswell. Though that's not gonna happen given and if it were to happen, it won't be anytime soon.

I would say it's just a standard, average update. New track some news cars, and essentially, no content. The new track has an average of just 4 laps. I have no idea why can't PD have an endurance race at every track. There's so much of great track in the game that only has 5-10 laps of racing.

Honestly, there's nothing to shout about in this update.

It's just a driving AI. It isn't going to make racist or transphobic comments. If you want that just join a public lobby.
No, but if the cars are all driving like they're in Wreckfest then it's a failure of what they want to do with it, and it'll be criticized as a waste of time and money. If I wanted garbage driving I'd go to a public lobby too, not an AI system that's claiming to provide a realistic, competitive race.

This update is mother of all updates unless you have a PS4
FTFY

I don't know why it didn't occur to me that Sophy would be a PS5 exclusive thing - maybe it is only being previewed on PS5, but maybe not.

It also didn't occur to me that there isn't - and likely won't be - support for PSVR in GT7... perhaps it's a no-brainer to most people that GT7 was going to be a PSVR2 title, but one could be forgiven for thinking that PSVR users - esp. those like me who mainly bought it for GT - have been a little short-changed... GT Sport VR support was decidedly underwhelming, but it appears that this is the limit of the GT experience for PSVR.

edit: Maybe Sony should offer PSVR users a trade-in, say £100 off a PSVR2?

The original PSVR has been pretty much abandoned for a while (I have one) and not just by PD. The last major releases for it (Star Wars Squadrons and Hitman) are over 2 years old now. Apple would probably have it in their "obsolete" category.

Sophy is likely a technical issue with the PS4 CPU - even on the PS5 it's only running a max of 4 opponents.

For me, this is the second best update yet, my favourite is still the one where we were finally able to sell cars. It refreshed the game for me completely, de-cluttered my garage, finally completed the car collection with that money etc. But this one is close second :D
