Fine then...

Please use this thread to make your predictions for, and discuss, Gran Turismo 7's next update.

We're calling it 1.53 as a placeholder because it's anybody's guess what the actual version number will be, and since we have no idea when it might arrive because the last was out of sequence...

96r2yy.jpg

... there's no reason to suppose it's a "November update" yet. Although we do know that PD is "targeting" a November date for the PS5 Pro Enhanced update, that's quite a big target so even though the console launches on November 7th we might not see an update on that exact date.

Notes:
  • DON'T POST WISHLISTS. There are no second chances on this because we've wasted too much time with people who want to divert threads from their purpose and we've gone out of our way to give them enough other places to get it out of their system...

Apropos of that, wishlists go in the Car & Track Wishlist Thread which we made specifically for that purpose:

  • Predictions are guesses with evidence. Given that the entire past history of free Gran Turismo game updates (with one exception) has given us the expectation of the number of cars (single digits) and tracks (one or zero), if you're posting ridiculously long lists of cars and multiple tracks then that's a wishlist. See the first rule. So are lists of brands (multiple) which have never been in the game series before or which have been cut and are showing no signs of returning (coughs Lotus *coughs).
  • bUt We DoN't HaVe AnY eViDeNcE. Sure you do. There's been, like, 25 content updates now. That shows you what volume of content you can expect and what type of content PD is focusing on. Lately it's been filling in generational gaps of certain model lines, but there's been a few surprises in the past, some well-placed cars from our Suggestions forum (hey look, another place to express your car/track wishes!), and some 4K-era upgrades to cars from previous games.
  • Go

Let's go, for the future update, whenever it comes, I predict:
5 cars, following this pattern:
  • 2 Classic from the leaked list (like the bmw 2002, the Yellowbird or a Lancia)
  • A completely new car to the series (like the 812 from the leaked, but can be anything)
  • A racing car (probably a older one rather a newer gt3)
  • A JDM car returning to the game (AZ1, GTR variant, Lan Evo...)
For the engine swaps, the recently added Lan Evo 8 has no swap, so I believe the Group b Evo engine will be available.
Some scapes

They have had a bit of a streak of weird/mundane cars coming in, so I would not be surprised if one of the next vehicles is a kei car or utility car like the Jimny + HiAce additions.

Given the PS5 Pro November launch, I would not be surprised if the update targeting that launch is a big content drop (i.e. fan favorites returning, another new track, lots of new misc features). And of course, support for the new console and its features.

Given 1.52 was called "The Gran Turismo October 2024 Update", I rather doubt we're getting a second one this month. As for predictions, since PD missed the Hagerty's price adjustments promise once again (that was supposed to happen in October), we'll be seeing that this time around, and the net increase will be north of 5%.

It'll be the 6th or 7th of November. I know about the "targeting November" thing, but if Sony are happy enough with the Pro build to show it off at TGS then I think it's reasonable to assume PD can hit the launch of the Pro. They hit PSVR2 release despite that being earlier in the month than their usual cadence.

Kaz will use the "big update" nomenclature that he previously used for the PSVR2 and Spec II updates (and that I assume he would have used for July 2024 had that had silhouettes) in the silhouette teaser.

There will be a track. What track that is, who knows. I'm saying that because tracks and big features have been tied together in updates for a while now (Grand Valley+PSVR2, Lake Louise+Spec II, Eiger Nordwand+physics overhaul).

I'm being bold and predicting there will be at least one new GT3 car that gets used in the GTWS Manufacturers Cup final. Its Gr.3 BoP will cause controversy one way or the other. Other than that, not going to predict what cars there are.

Bonus prediction: No further update afterwards until the end of January, between staff holidays and My First GT they will be rather stretched.

Based on the past updates I think that they will finally add the AZ1 and while I would think they might add 2007 GTR I don't think since they just added the last GTR in 1.52 I don't think that will happen so I believe that they will add the C5 Corvette and I think they will add an European car of that I am not sure of. I do think since this will be the Pro update we might get a track not sure what track it will be though.

My prediction: 1.53 for november.
-BMW 2002 Ti or 507
-A japanese road car, I would have guessed the FTO but since we had the EVO last update I highly doubt PD will give us another Mitsubishi, so let's go for another brand, let's say a new Mazda
-An European "race" car, why not the 208 T16 Pikes Peak?
-Another road car, but something fairly new and european, around 400 - 500PP.

No track.
PS5 Pro update with new visuals enhancements.
No physics update.

I would have guessed the FTO but since we had the EVO last update I highly doubt PD will give us another Mitsubishi…
Why are you highly doubting it? Audi TTS came with the February update. Audi R8 came with the subsequent March update. The May update brought five cars across three manufacturers. There are no rules.

For 1.53 update (when PD and Kaz will make it real)

Cars:
Lancia Fulvia HF 1.3 (new)
Mercendes 500E (datamined)
Ford RS 200 (return from past standard GT list)
Chevrolet Corvette (C5) (return from past GT list)

Track:
None

More updates:
Multiclass races
On line Championships
Some online tweaks
2-3 cafe menus (extra or ...normal)
One scape location (Monaco or Athens)

PD were so nice to give us some Group A cars, I’ll predict another finally makes its debut.

We’ve got a Trans-Am over 2.5L grid in the ‘69 Mustang, ‘69 Camaro and ‘70 Challenger. Under 2.5L Alfa Romeo GT and Mini Cooper S. Missing are the BMW 2002 and Datsun 510(Nissan Bluebird).
A new to the Gran Turismo franchise BMW 2002 Tii ‘75 from the datamine makes sense. It’ll help start and fill a gap of BMW classic sport sedans from the early CSL cars and E30.
The return of the Bluebird in fully rendered glory would be a great addition to the multitude of 1960s-1970s classics from many brands currently in the game. Also a switch from straight-six engines to add another choice for the four-cylinder contingent.

Really can’t call what we’ll get. PD do surprises well™️. Adding the AMG 500 E and/or 911 Turbo S add more bahn storming machines.

Buick GNX grants us more USA muscle and nice return of a new brand to GT7.

Then, there are GT partners Toyota and Mazda with the Celica '70 and a few Roadsters all in the datamine. Whew!

Shortlist I'll predict:
  • 2002 tii
  • 500 E
  • NB Roadster(as we're currently having an NA Roadster One Make for the Weekly Challenge, including all generations of Roadsters next time would make sense)
  • ARTA Garaiya '08

Considering that the June update 1.49 didn't happen until July, then we got a patch 1.50 at the end of July almost immediately after the 1.49.

Essentially we skip the July update if we don't count the patch 1.50

Then I August we were expecting an update with 1.51, but we never got it

Then In September, we were expecting an update, but it didn't arrive until beginning of October with 1.52.

Therefore the next update at the end of October should be called the October update, rightfully so, as PD is catching up.

We will get an update 1.53 for (October)
But knowing PD, I think it will not arrive until November, in preparation for the PS5 Pro intro.

Everything is shifted, and a few skipped along the way unfortunately.

We will get an update in November at the end of November which will kick start the holiday season.
If the 1.53 October update is faulty enough, then we might get a patch 1.54 before the 1.55 update right after Thanksgiving.

Then an update 1.56 at the end of December to close out the 2024 year...

That's my prediction.

Same thing I said in August:

2 returning cars from the datamine list and 2 new to the series cars that I feel have a genuine chance of appearing.

Cars:

Buick GNX Turbo '87 <--- Returning + datamine
RUF Yellowbird '87 <--- Returning + datamine
Mercedes-Benz CLK-GTR Strassenversion '97 <---- Historic/important to the brand and new
Nissan Z Nismo '24 <---- New and ties in with PD's Nissan partnership

Tracks:
No new ones

Events:

Hypercar parade - 5 laps Spa 24 hours

Race of turbo sportscars - Tokyo Expressway 5 laps

American FR Challenge - Daytona International road course - 5 laps

Schwarzwald League - La Sarthe classic -2 Laps

Menu books:

80's poster staples: RUF Yellowbird, Ferrari F40, Lamborghini Countach 25th Anniv.

90's GT1 Homologation: Mercedes-Benz CLK-GTR Strassenversion, Porsche 911 GT1 Strassenversion, McLaren F1

Except 1.49, called the July (not June) update, came at the end of July, with the 1.50 bug-squash patch in early August, while PD called this one the October 2024 update. Indeed, PD has never had two explicit content updates in the same month (though the first of the three updates in April 2022 introduced the Grindy Three races and the Human Comedy missions, and doubled the size of the Used/Hagerty's dealers, that did not get any of the hype, either pre-release or post-release, the other updates that introduced content did).

I tell it like it is...
Kaz is just deflecting.

Month:.............Expectations/....................Actual
June: ................Update 1.49.........................None /Skip
July:...................Update 1.50........................Update 1.49 announced beginning July, delivered end of July.
Aug: ...................update 1.51....................... none escept for the patch 1.50 to correct 1.49
Sept: ..................update 1.52......,................ None
Oct: ...................update 1.53........................update 1.52
Nov: ,..................update 1.54 Spec III.......................Update 1.53 spec III
Dec: ...................update 1.55.......................Only Kaz knows.

I know they don't owe us anything,
Likewise two can play that game, we don't owe them any playtime...unless they put out....

They need us more than we need them....

Edit: add reference to Spec III

Except you don't know how to read a calendar. The 1.50 patch came on August 7, not, repeat NOT July.
Same difference
My earlier post is now Corrected for your pleasure.

The point that you are missing still is the fact that everything is shifted per our expectations.

A patch may be labeled as an update, but it is still not an update in the truest sense of the term, as there are no additional cars or track or features/functions.patch 1.50 is a correction for 1.49, not a full fletch update if you can't remember, so regardless of when it was released.

And please don't tell me I cannot have expectations, if Kaz has the expectations that we continue to play his game...

6 cars,
Toyota mr2 aw11
Honda civic type r ep3
Nissan r390 lm
BMW m5 e60
Chevrolet Corvette c5 z06
Ferrari 812 superfast
Unrealistic lineup. All the cars may be viable candidates in their own right, and I wouldn’t be surprised if one of them shows up for November. But come on… There’s no way they would deliver six so desirable cars in one batch. There’s always one or two cars that fall into the ballpark of being odd or quite divisive among fans.

I don’t know, man. These were highly requested cars and PD delivered in one update. I’d say the Tesla be the outlier.

In that six car list above, the MR2 and EP seem a bit out of sorts in that list. If we got the Nissan, BMW, Ferrari and Chevy, then, a Honda and Toyota? I think there’d be some up in arms of why those two couldn’t be swapped for other cars. Especially the MR2 in that group. Even though it adds to the generations of MR2.

Spec ll update almost only had cars we always wanted outside of the tesla,
Yes we will never be able to get every car prediction right,

I put a lot of faith that pd will do a major update to celebrate the launch of ps5 pro,
Its not like it would be something new for them,

It was the case for spec ll and vr update.

If you want to look back from GT Sport-era precedent, there were two updates in March 2019 (GR Supra and Autopolis on March 5, Super Formula on March 28). Though I don't know why they did that - was the early March update to make up the lack of February update that year? Was the late March update to get the Super Formula cars a SF-dictated thing?)

Please note that "My First GT" will be released during the Christmas period and it is said to be a demo, but it is not a demo either as it will include "things" that were in previous GTs and are not in 7, so we could consider that "My First GT" is the "bridge" game between GT7 and GT8. As GT Prologue was at the time. What do you think @Famine about my theory?
