The main thing I don’t understand is how Kaz could have this track as a personal favourite, but at same time be willing to take away so much of its original character. It almost makes you wonder how involved he is in the creative decisions nowadays.

Trial Mountain also underwent some changes, but most of them exaggerated the things that made it unique to begin with, whereas Deep Forest has been taken in a more generic direction.

Both are about how the tree canopies are gone. The main question should be why really against tree canopies. The layout... probably FIA-related change.

Regardless of the trees, the distinct fantasy vibe of Trial Mountain has been preserved. Deep Forest could almost pass as a realistic circuit now.

I was thinking about this too. If you like a track, you don't just rid everything that makes it unique from the rest.

Beyond the vegetation problem, Deep Forest in its old layout was a place where you could have fun with non-overpowered road cars. Since the new scheme seems to be the adaptation of all original tracks to racing specifications, where will we be able to enjoy these cars without getting bored?

It's the same for Trial Mountain as well. Both of these tracks were great for 500pp and below cars on road based tyres in GT6. It seems PD are forgetting about all of us that don't exclusively use race cars.

The overall look of the scenery and feel of the last section remind me of Road Atlanta and Road America. I'll enjoy building my '69 Mustang to Trans Am spec and flinging it around this circuit.

That all Shows me, GT7 will hold on the FIA focus. They can Tell what they want. Gran Turismo will never be like before in the Last decades. It get full market for car Companys like Vision GT and FIA. I want back the good old Gran Turismo with personality on tracks, hanging trees e.g.

Indeed. Remember, Kaz said the veteran players will have to suck it up for the new players. This game will be brand new to those new players.

.... but but,... he also said he wants new players to have that experience the rest of us had, when we first experienced GT. Confusing times... ;)

One thing I like about this revised Deep Forest is the increased lenght of the back straight, as the speed carried through the final tunnel now adds serious contrast to the slower section that precedes it. The old track felt a little more restrained in this regard. The reduced elevation changes on the back straight also contribute to the extra speed, although I kinda miss the rollercoaster aspect. If only they could have combined this with the old final sector, but we’ll probably learn to live with the hairpin. The last turn still has some of the old charm, after all.

@wagnerFAM98 That is a dangerous post my friend, I hope you are prepared! 😆

I'll reserve final judgement until I play the game obviously however I'm a fan of the new Trial Mountain but not convinced about the new Deep Forest as it is. I think it's going to depend on the speed/class of car that is being driven as to whether it is enjoyable to TT/race at each one.

I could understand why it isn't the case with TM, but I'm surprised that Deep Forest doesn't feature a layout that's reminiscent of the original version. The land on the inside of the track at the turn after the tunnel looks like it's perfectly clear for the retention of the original curve.

Though I'm pretty much at peace with the idea that changes like these were only natural after 24-25 years, this makes me not want to see Special Stage Route 5, unless that and its ilk are included for races featuring 12 or fewer cars and aren't to be included in the FIA races.

I liked the new Deep Forest layout/scenery.
Same, i liked more this Deep Forest rework than the Trial Mountain one

Anyway im so glad they added high resolution shadows in cockpit view, finally the low res blurred ones are only a thing of the past (at least on PS5). Hope also reflections will receive the same upgrade (looking at the opponent cars they seem much sharper than on GTS so i have a good feeling about this aspect of the game)

I actually like the last sector to be honest. Regarding the absence of canopies I’m more positive too. I think that if time of day and weather get implemented on this track, the changes in lighting and how they affect the mood and visibility on track while driving can be much more impactful than if there were tones of trees blocking the sky in most of the track. We already have the tunnels for that effect.
This is really a good point, there's hope with different time of day, especially at sunset/dusk ! We might get better deep forest vibes than the conditions shown in the trailer :)
