The crazy part is that PD never even did that. Players just convinced themselves it would, with the help of overegging YouTubers claiming it would without actually reading what PD said.
The fact that they needed what, like 20 PS4's all inter-connected via the cloud to even run it on PS4 should have been the first clue to people that it isn't coming other then as a one-off. And you sure as hell aren't going to introduce one feature to a version of the game and not introduce it to the other without people getting pissed off at you even more.

Indeed. They should not have shown that off a month before release when it was not anywhere near ready. We all know why they did it, typical misleading promo to try and shift copies of your product.

Check out this amazing AI that won't be in the game.

I read it again and it seems like they are adjusting PP requirements from the championships so maaaaybe the single events like the Tokyo Events are untouched but the PP glitch itself is fixed?

I hope so. Changing the PP requirements for the Tokyo events isn't a solution for the PP glitch.

I expected them to eliminate the Dodge Tomahawk X from Tokyo last week, very strange that they decided to wait. Probably instead of the PP the race will require a specific group of cars. No problem guys, we will find other targets to put money in the safe.
I thought the problem with the Tomahawk was just that the transmission settings broke the PP system, allowing it in a race it otherwise has no business being in. Therefore, the fix starts and ends at fixing the PP calculation glitch. Removing transmission as an influence on PP would be the simplest method.

Again, Sophy is a cool idea in principle, and in execution too, but really, it is no more then theoretical. There is no practical application at the moment, and even then, it's all a roundabout, sledgehammer to open a chestnut way of trying to fix an AI That would be better served creating an actual decent AI model like so many other, smaller developers have done.

They could very easily add Sophy to only the PS5 version assuming the PS4 couldn't run it, like Ray Tracing. Don't see why anyone would get mad if it were a matter of lacking power.

So you're basically telling those on PS4 (who make up a not insignificant portion of the playing population, and one that Polyphony knowingly catered towards when they shifted public development of the game from PS5 exclusively to cross-gen) that if they want actual AI in the vast majority of the races, they should pony up the price to upgrade to a PS5? When they could have easily made an actual AI that doesn't rely on the chase the rabbit formula if they hired a few AI programmers?

I would like to know when Poly are going to update the multiplayer side of the game. I host a lobby, online(LOOK FOR THE ROOM WITH THE "CHIEF" IN IT), but cannot edit the room, the track, nothing. We have to leave the room and create a whole other room in order to achieve this. I would think that this is a pretty simple fix, but apparently, it's not. Also, my buddies and I were discussing how Poly needs to implement something where drivers who don't understand how to drive fairly, need to be penalized more, instead of the fair and respectful drivers getting penalized on the receiving end. Again, attention to detail here. We completely understand that things happen in a race, but incidents can be avoided. We just won't fair, fun, and competitive racing. So, anyone is interested in that sort of thing, come find CHIEF'S room in the Muti-player Lobbies. Btw, this isn't a promotion, we just want to race with guys who race like us and want to have fun.

If they kill off the tomahawk exploit I’ll probably stop playing the game or not play it much period… that was the main reason I was playing since I was trying to grind money to buy all the cars in the game mostly brand central and used dealership since some of the legend cars are overpriced…I was spending way too much time playing the game anyway just to grind instead of having fun with the other stuff… I did all the café books already and finished most of the wtc races… not really interested in the missions so will pass on that…before the tomahawk exploit I was doing LeMans with the Red bull junior and was only winning half the time… not really interested in grinding that race because it’s just too much work… I got 148 cars so if anything ill stop collecting and just enjoy the cars I have for now that’s if they stop the tomahawk exploit…

All this Tomahawk PP exploit would be a good argument point to evaluate if having cars powered by magic and scifi contraptions are really necessary or even wise in a game which likes to position itself as a simulator. But this is Polyphony, who will never get tired of proving to us all that common sense comes only when every other alternative has been exhausted.

I think we're discussing different things. The AI could've been better without Sophy, and they could make Sophy exclusive to PS5, I don't see why those would be contradictory concepts. Personally speaking as a PS4 player I wouldn't care if Sophy was exclusive to the PS5 version if it was a matter of the console not having enough power to run Sophy.

As much as I'd wish to have that in game, currently the conditions of the tarmac there are... well, far from being good for laser scanning. And the banking would also kill you for how huge it is.
I not suggesting that they scan it in its current state but scan it for size and angle purposes only. New tarmac.

Please Grand Valley, Autumn Ring, and Apricot Hill. Please Grand Valley, Autumn Ring, and Apricot Hill.

And Midfield Raceway for good measure...

The only thing this game is missing for me is a few of the legacy cars which I'm SURE will be added, but I'm nervous that we won't get the legacy tracks that make GT GT.

Add the Sudschliefe too. I mean - they're (real) fantasy tracks. It's not like they laser scanned Deep Forest, Trial Mountain or High Speed Ring when they redid them.

And why pay for the license to Pikes Peak, then sit on it for years; probably to the point of it expiring. That'll get circuits really wanting to be in your game.

GT7 - the Real Pikes Peak Simulator - now with 4x more than GT Sport and GT6 combined!!

I’m not an expert sim racer so I don’t really care too much about some of the stuff you people complain about. I’ll be honest and I really enjoy the game and I’m happy with what we currently have. Obviously I’d like more stuff to be added as it can get boring just doing daily racers over and over.

Reading the notes from the new update and hopefully they are some good updates.

If new layouts for tracks are to be added, id like to see.
Le Mans - the Bugatti track
Spa - the original layout
Fiji - they are lots of layout for this. Even some of the older variants.
Suzuka - west course.
Catalunya - few variants you can add with this.

Cars - I’d love to have more current 2021/22 cars. Like why isn’t the new Golf 8 added, or Bugatti Chiron etc…
Also love to see some of the fast SUVs added.
But if it likely to be only 7 cars then it could be anything…

Cafe Missions - definitely get more of these added, along with more single player championships
Also manufactures championships like GT4

Hope the Gr4 class is more evenly matched. That Atenza can do one!

Regarding Sophy, im just going to say what i said a month ago.
The last time this forum assume something about new things coming to GT7, a couple of them have been proven wrong. Remember when people thought the Tweet about the Sony AI collaboration has nothing to do with GT7? or how about that time that people said GT7 physics looks to be the same as GT Sport by only looking at gameplay videos?

I think its best to wait for the AI update to come rather than interpreting a very vague statement that Kaz said about Sophy role in GT7.
Also while PD never directly said that Sophy will be replacing the AI, they also never said that it wont. theyre being vague about it.

Training deep learning model is also much more expensive than running the models, the article where it mentions that it requires great computational power was about training it.

Had Covid not happened, and thus the resulting microchip shortage. GT7 would have been a PS5 exclusive because there wouldn’t be a PS5 shortage issue.

As PS5’s become more available, I would expect PD and Sony will push more PS5 exclusive content. They’d be dumb not to

Completely reasonable IMHO

You people conveniently overlooked that fact

1 PS5 != 20 PS4s. It wouldn't work.
Not sure where the 20 PS4s just to run it came from but Kaz specifically said a PS5 has enough power to run the Sophy model locally:
“The learning of Sophy is parallel processed using compute resources in the cloud, but if you are just executing an already learned network, a local PS5 is more than adequate,” Kazunori Yamauchi explained. “The asymmetry of this computing power is a general characteristic of neural networks.”
Maybe the confusion comes from them using exponentially more powerful hardware to train it. It's no different than what for example Apple does for many features in iOS, where you train the AI on much more powerul machines, but the actual model runs locally on iPhones.

They know exactly why they didn't get rid of the tomahawk issue:

Removing the "bug" and taking one of the few opportunities to earn decent money without supplying an adequate replacement would only be one thing, an extreme Dickmove.

The boys and girls at PD have now figured that out.

Why would you sell a car that you actually use? I want to sell the cars that I have double or the fictious race and rally cars that I'm never going to use... If I only get 1/4 so be it, now they are worth nothing to me.
Why defending a questionable design choice just because it's 1) done the past games and 2) not troublesome to you?
I mean, I suppose so? No reason for PD to not add them, at least from my point of view, especially for how short the cafe is. Now, I may be wrong, but that's my reasoning.
This is PD who adds useless features and prioritizes useless crap. That's SoPhY included.
