Well, I can't think a worse selection of cars than these 2 VGTs and a Jimny. After skipping 3 months without relevant content in the final part of the year they should've added at least 5 cars, 1-2 very highly requested. Now the Spec II update looks a bit underwhelming considering the number of cars in it was no more than two months of content and a pretty disappointing track IMO. The only way they can fix this update is by squeezing there a circuit, maybe Motegi or Okayama, but I highly doubt that this update will bring anything relevant.

When are full patch notes usually released? When update is released or before?
When the update is released. The car lineup is confirmed, and new tracks and scapes (and recently, menu books) are usually announced, the day before.

I was so wrong, did only expect one of vision gt, but glad both its out of the way now, for future updates, this car selection is very lackluster, for almost 3 months of wait, just took a small break from gt7, this wont bring me back, i cant base this year with one update, but this might mean gt8 will already be announced, this year, its clear new cars being hold back, maybe next update will bring me back, hopefully that wont be in march,

Maybe its just dissapointing with cars and have something new and exciting for single player instead i am not holding my breath through.

Same as always…
There will be a Server maintenance announcement most likely on Monday, then you know on which day the Update comes out.
One day before the update comes out there is an announcement trailer covering the most obvious things like the cars, tracks and other big features if there are any.
The complete changelog will be released in the moment the update is out.

Same schedule since nearly two years…

The same time as the servers go offline and the update becomes available.

Approximate timeline should be:

Saturday 20 - Silhouettes
Wednesday 24 - PS Blog/GT.com post confirming most contents
Thursday 25 - Update & GT.com article with all contents, patch notes

Really hope this means that PD is hard at work to get GT8 ready, because this is shockingly bad. Well, unless they unveil a couple new tracks to go with these useless cars. Which they won’t.
💩
I think it’s sad and funny as well to read this crazy crying after most of the updates. We don’t know the full content of the update yet and even if it only includes these 3 cars it’s ok.
For sure it could be more but to see people constantly acting as it’s the end of their life because feature XY is most likely not included… come on 😅

And for sure they are already working on GT8. Have you any clue about game development? This has become more and more time consuming and expensive. It’s not possible to build great and big games within 1-2 years. There will be for sure a GT8 in the next years but to cry about this over and over again doesn’t make GT7 better or worse in any way.

I'm very happy with this update!

When I saw this article, or was it just some instagram story, I thought that new Jimny would perfectly fit in Gran Turismo.

If we would only get some tight course to more enjoy those low powered cars.

Kinda excited for the Jimny but can't ignore getting less and less content with each update, makes me wonder what's the reason behind it. This time we basically only have 1 car, with other 2 being the cars PD are kinda "obliged" to add, and it really starting to feel like PD's usual end of support, when they start to fully focus on the next game and keep new cars and tracks for it, rather than releasing for the current game. Maybe Spec II was suppose to be the last big thing they worked on for GT7 and now it's only GT8 ahead? I can see GT8 (if it's PS5 game) take less time than GT7. GT7 came out 4.5 years after GTS, and that was a game for the new console, so if they announce GT8 this summer and release it next year, 3 years after GT7, I won't be very surprised, would be the same as GT6.

GT7 was announced in June 2020, before that GTS got last regular update in December 2019 (4 cars and 1 track) and February 2020 (3 cars), after which it only had "sponsored" 1-car-updates (April - Supra 2020, May - Mazda RX Vision GT3). It's not exactly that yet with GT7, but seems to be leaning towards that, next updates should make it more clear.

So they just killed all the momentum they gained with the spec II + World finals event with this souless update after 3 freaking months😑😑😑

Edit: Good to get the Jimny at least

I am think thats what frustrates me the most, they had the gran turismo movie, then spec 2 then world finals. Unless there is a monster track update, they bust all that built momentum by not putting something special in here or a multitude of cars.

Not the most impressive update so far but it is what it is. To use one my favorite teams mottos PD gonna PD 😁🤷🏾‍♂️

I wondered following the increasingly lacklustre weekly events if PD could get any more meh, and lo, we get this utterly beige update.

The Jimny is fun irl, but not because it's a good drive, it's fun because it's awful as a car but looks like a tonka toy.

If there isn't any additional content in this update like a new (race)track or something, there's no defending this one. Especially due to the long content drought imo. The Jimny's cool i guess. The Genesis looks nice but you know. It's a V*T.... We don't speak about V*T's...

Funny when people mention how expensive and time consuming game development is, which includes car and track modeling, and yet we see PD waste those precious resources on content nobody asked for.

I think PD decision making goes something like this:
-Team, we need a content update for January, what do you think we should do?
-Sir, given we've had no real content update since November, we should make this content update atleast 5 cars, ideally 7+!
-Great idea Jimmy, 3 cars it is! Now which cars should we choose?
-Sir, I was thinking about either the BMW or Aston Martin 2019 DTM cars, or maybe both, to pair up with the Audi RS5 DTM.
-Look, Hans, I don't think that's what people want... try again.
-Ok sir, speaking of Audi RS5, maybe it's road going version, to compete with the C63 AMG and the M4?
-Ok Hans, we get it, you're German! Let's try something from other country.
-Sir, the game hasn't had a Ferrari or Lamborghini for a while, so maybe we could add one or two? 🤌
-Thanks Valentina, but maybe we should try another continent. Good news, 2 of the 3 cars will be VGTs, so you only need to come up with one!
-What?!
-Let's make it extra special guys!
-Maybe the Ford RS200? It fits every criteria to be a good addition to the game!
-Look John, I like you, but I don't think when I said "other continent" I meant America. Feel me?
-Oh ok sir. What about from Oceania, like an FPV GT-F 351?
-It's pretty much a Ford... I'll make it easier for you, Asia.
-So... maybe Kia Stinger GT? It gained quite a bit of popularity!
-Yeah... what about a Japanese car instead?
-Sir, sir! I know one!
-Go ahead...
-Toyota GT-One, it has been highly requested!
-I like your style, and I love that it's a Toyota. But we are saving that one to weaponize nostalgia for GT8. But you did good! People asked for modern day cars, let's give one to them!
-Maybe we should go for the Subaru WRX S209, or the new WRX?
-That's not special enough... any other suggestions?
Jimmy raises his hand
-That's it! Suzuki Jimny it is!
