Haha this new update 🤣
PD really don’t help themselves on these updates.

Updates - so I know Kaz said that monthly updates were not there initial plan and that updates will be rolled out when they are ready and needed. The fact over the last 6 months we only had 3 updates, doesn’t bother me. Spec 2 update was basically 2 months worth of updates, but this January update looks so poor. 3 cars, 2 of which are VGTs which I never drive, and a Suzuki Jimny? Im not expecting a new track.i had hope of a new track due to Nations Round 4 is unknown, but I think it will the Bulgari VGT on a track we know (Lake Maggorie).

Cars - these 3 new cars are utterly pointless. I have no desire to use these unless it in the weekly time trial.
I agree that the game is a driving game and all different types off cars need to be added, but its the dated race cars that annoys me.

Tracks - don’t have issue with tracks. Would love some more to be added and more proper track too. Don’t mind fictional as long as PD don’t turn them in Grand Valley type tracks. Not sure why GV needed to turn into a street circuit.

Online - needs an overhaul and mass improvements. I’ve not touched daily races for months. GTWS is the only online stuff I do.

Offline - Give us more missions. Add 24/12/8/4 hours races. Also make the custom races have more features. The lack off mandatory pit stops or mandatory tyres is annoying.

PD need a spec 3 with massive improvements for me to consider playing GT7 more. My 2023 stats for PSN, had me playing ACC for more hours then GT7. Yes ACC has less content, but even involved in racing leagues and endurance racing just makes the game way more fun then GT7

Hopefully the Jimny will be J-Spec so it can actually have a use in the career (K-car events).

Don't even expect a new layout, for example, nor a simple Watkins Glen No Chicane.

Why?

As they said, everything indicates that PD is in its final phase of supporting GT7.

First. SPEC II came out a few months ago, an update that traditionally indicates the final phase of support.

Second. Rumor has it that the GT7 will debut on PC this year. Sony's first-party games go to PC when they stop receiving content update support on PS5.

Interesting. I personally don't see another Gran Turismo game coming for another 3 years. And GT 8 for launch window PS6.
Why not spec 3 for end of the year, with PS5 Pro release, more features etc..

While I entirely get the anger over a three-car update, we're getting some weird losing-of-minds in here.

So far today we've seen three people pick up warnings for abusive posts in this thread and it's resulted in two flounces and two permanent bans (one being one of each). It's baffling, and I would like there to not be a fourth.

Apropos of the cars, the Jimny is a kei car* - a heavy one, I concur - and it takes little effort to find posts demanding kei cars (which I know means the AZ-1, but still).

I know it's fashionable to hate VGTs, but these aren't nonsense, 1000hp AWD megadongs (which are old hat anyway; brands are making 2000hp AWD terawangs now).

I've driven the Bulgari VGT and it's good fun: a smallish, relatively low-powered thing, which is basically made by PD and styled by the Fittipaldi EF7 guy. The Genesis is a GT car designed to be as production-ready as possible; I haven't driven it yet, so judgment reserved there.

Of course, we also don't know what else is coming in the update, although probably not a track.

*Even the global car is just bolt-on arches and a 1.5 petrol away.

Honestly, there is something for everyone here in the upcoming update, provided they have an open mind..something most sim racing gamers lack
  • a kei car, and out first kei car since the honda beat, and the game needed more of these kind of vehicles anyway
  • a reasonable performance sports roadster in the bulgari VGT providing open top thrills in a modest performance package
  • and a hi performance supercar with Genesis VGT that is sure to impress specs wise hopefully in how it drives too
And I'm fed up of pretending it's not a good selection to people everywhere else, the update may be a dud but the vehicle selection won't be the problem

Moderators when a new questionable silhouette emerges:

I like VGTs, but it would be nice if we had more ways to use them, like one-make races. Anything would be better than the unbalanced events we have for them right now.

Another month, another full copium mode that we will get more hud options. :ouch:

So, how about we just chill out, wait for the trailer, and see.

And if it ends up being a classic "3 cars we already knew being presented in in-game footage, but that's it" trailer, that's fine, but at least we get the final say on the content, from an official source.

We literally know nothing beyond the three curious cars as of right now.

When I saw this article, or was it just some instagram story, I thought that new Jimny would perfectly fit in Gran Turismo.

If we would only get some tight course to more enjoy those low powered cars.
Since this article was published a year ago, maybe PD took note of possible modifications. Some of the RAYS 4x4 wheel options, would be nice additions.

The 2018 XC 4WD rides on standard 16” wheels. I nice drop to 15” and the wide wheel option might make it look a bit beefy. No doubt it’ll be cheap to purchase. So, 20 of these with various modifications and different liveries, running around Tsukuba, Barcelona Rallycross and many other short courses, will be the way I’ll have fun with the Jimny.

Not gonna lie, I’m absolutely estatic for the Jimney!!! One of my best memories is from 2008, when a buddy and I went on a month long surf trip from Panama City to the northern tip of Costa Rica and back. This is pre-smartphone days when all you had was lonely planet travel books, Maps in Spanish, a burner phone you got at a convenience store, internet cafe’s and calling cards to make contact back home…..and the good grace of fellow surfers and natives to point you in the right direction. Yes, we got lost in the jungle a few times, hassled by federales, fjorded a few rivers we had no business traversing, got chased out by crocodiles, I nearly drowned in Playa La Barquetta, and almost got my organs harvested in a push-bottom motel once we got back to Panama City

...and it all was in a faded red Jimney. I can’t wait to climb inside and relive the memories 😎

Never fails in an update thread that ultimo-doom seethers come in stating nonsense like facts, and then are nowhere to be found when the update provides a lot more than just cars.

Why are you even here?

I'm not excited about the silhouettes either. I don't care a lot for VGTs, and while I love the Jimny in the real world, I don't think a track based racing game is the best fit for it... especially with dirt physics being a low point of the game. But even with those truths I don't, and you don't, know what the rest of the update will bring, and the complete idiocy of continually crapping on an update when 90% of it hasn't even been revealed is just pathetic.

Unfortunately, this thoughtless, uninformed, emotional take on "truth" is all too pervasive amongst the mindless droves of people acting against their own self interest these days.

Grow up. Stop knee-jerk reacting to things you don't know anything about. Go play another game that better soothes your nonsense expectations. Probably going to be hard to find one when the cognitive measure is based on thoughtless emotion instead of actual facts.
Those in the know, know there is no track.

Don't need a wall of copium trying to say otherwise.

This is insanely rude! It's a statement based off word from the person with a 100% track record for predicting what is or isn't in an update.
Perhaps learn some background context before resorting to personal attacks? It doesn't hurt. But talking to someone like that sure does.

Did I miss something? Who said there was no track that has a 100% track record?

Another thing that makes this update hard to digest is that both of the VGTs, which constitute two thirds of the cars getting added here, were only recently announced. Meanwhile there are Pebble Beach GT Trophy winners from years ago that still haven’t made it to the game.

Cars are typically one of the less important part of updates. So no worries for me. If there where no update cars since 2022 it wouldn't even bother me.

Hi! As someone who does know, I can confirm there is no track.

Now chill.
