New update? Lets take a look at the content........oh

This is 100% me, simultaneously glossing over the update article and the comments, feeling no inclination to repeat what many have said already. Breaking the mould here by posting a response this time around but this got me good:lol:

It's kinda nuts they didn't at least include the racing variant of the Genesis VGT, that would have made the update at least a little more exciting. Maybe it's not quite ready yet despite being teased at the end of that car's trailer? Idk.
I'm actually relieved. The silhouette of the racing version of the Genesis VGT wasn't convincing for me. From what I could make out [which admittedly wasn't much] It really did look ike the standard version with a wing just bolted on to it. Something we'd have no problem doing ourselves could we add aftermarket bits to VGT's. But that just wouldn't be convincing enough for a Gr.3/Gr.2/Gr.1 entry IMO.

They've put so much effort in to the base production ready looking VGT car already. So the appearance or lack there of a racing variant in this pack gives me a little bit of hope that they may be actually putting in similar effort to converting it into a high performace race car, which I'm all for and from what I've seen from the base model, should be worth the wait. Hopefully:).

I don't really see where you're coming from on this one honestly. If you take a good look at the "base production ready" VGT you're referencing, I'm seeing things the other way around honestly. We've got huge carbon fiber side skirts that look right off of a GT car, center locking rims, a few antennae for radios and weather radars I'm assuming behind the roof glass, a massive carbon diffuser with two tunnels that suggest some pretty decent ground effects, a racing tow hook and a racing fuel tank inlet on the centerline of the car as well.

Personally I think it's the other way around. The racing version is going to look fully complete, and the road car quite clearly looks like a detuned version of the race car. Just look at all those racing bits on the "base model".

The contents may be disappointing but people should know by now not to expect too much from PD. I'm not defending PD, but the less you hope for the better. Kei cars have always been a part of GT and we already know the 2 VGTs are coming. Better take the pain now and hope no more VGTs for the rest of the year. I don't think there will be a new track either (the TBA Nations Cup is probably just using one of the new cars).

Having said that, GT Sport ceases operations at the end of this month. Now personally I don't think running GT Sport takes a lot of resources away from GT7 (it's basically just updating daily races weekly and TTs monthly), but maaaybe PD can celebrate by putting out better updates from Feb onwards.

Or if you're the glass half empty kind of person, GT Sport stopped putting out regular updates after 2 years. March 2024 is the 2 year anniversary of GT7 so we could be looking at the end of the road here.

Anyway, I've missed these complaining threads whenever a new update is put out. No matter what PD does there will always be unhappy people and unrealistic expectations. But then you look at Forza and things are not much better. Heck I have practically unlimited content on AC with mods and I still go back to GT for most of my racing needs. Somehow despite all the complaints we all keep coming back :P

The last January content update in a GT game was literally 5 years ago. A lot of companies shut down over the new year and I'm guessing PD is no different.

People are reading way too much into this I think.

Hmm yes, yeah I haven't actually seen it in a while, but what you say adds up. I forget how good it looks too!

Would love it to be more Gr.2 than Gr.1, but anythings possible in the digital world, but then I suppose it could be neither of those either and PD may just dub it as a VGT race car. Which would be a crying shame.

The problem with disclosing sources is that it's also effectively outing the source, and it might disappear as a result depending how particular PD are about them. I feel like confirming larger things like specific cars or tracks (when tracks are present) is more of an issue than confirming something that I deem "lower stakes" like the absence of a track.

If you want to verify my knowledge yourself when the update is out then I guess I could also deem it low stakes to confirm that one of the new events should be a Jimny one-make race at Horse Thief Mile.

With all due respect - you’re treating Nenkai’s discord like a secret society again.
PD aren’t completely brain dead. I’m sure they are aware of Nenkai and know where leaked information is coming from. It’s not like he started doing it yesterday. His discord is free to join too so…

Generally not too concerned with Nenkai and his community and more with our community here. And for our community I think being all hush hush is not helpful at all.

For our community this pussyfooting around information that some have and some don’t is actually a bit toxic imo.

Gran Turismo never will be Iracing or Asseto Corsa Competizione , for one reason alone GT never was focused only on race cars , closest thing was GT Sport but even that had road cars

so i would suggest people to stop dreaming about GT3 only cars and find some other game that does it
yes i would like to see more updated race cars but those ain't gonna show up from thin air like some people think here

GT8 won't release anytime soon and only thing that could would be a GT Sport 2 or something like that

I was wrong. I would have guessed the box to be a Nissan Sakura.
As for content, you folks grouching about it do realize it's coming in a bit faster overall. Ya'll shoulda been around for Pole Position. You got what you got, no updates, and if you bought the sequel you might have gotten a console with it.

These longer races up to 24 hours in length. They've been prepping for a very long time, PD should either provide an update or confirm their cancellation.

Being honest, PD should outright confirm the cancellation of offline entirely given how little content there is for solo play

For context, readers, Pole Position was released by Atari in 1982...

It's a Kei car, Turbo version, much better for upgrades (probably coming with engine swap) and usable for more races
This is a completely baseless argument because all the in-game upgrade numbers are made up, and don't depend on what theoretical engine is in the car.

PD picking low power variants of cars is an issue because you can't lock tuning beyond stock for league racing, and daily races will be untuned. 100HP is workable but frankly 63HP is too limp for the tracks that are in GT7.

I like VGT’s too… I just don’t like how PD underutilizes them. They can be great cars, it’s just that there are practically no events/races to use them properly.
Also there is such a huge performance range in the cars we have so far, from the Daihatsu Copen RJ VGT to the Chaparral and SRT TomahawK X that it is inherently difficult to properly race them, at least, against each other.

-Toyota GT-One, it has been highly requested!
-I like your style, and I love that it's a Toyota. But we are saving that one to weaponize nostalgia for GT8. But you did good!
This is insanely accurate. That's exactly what I think at this point about the absence of the GT-One and some other "nostalgia weapons" as you put. This whole acting you came up with was pure tragicomedy.

I'm not sure what the GT Modding discord servers have to do with what @TheAdmiester posted. Your initial comment wasn't aimed at him, nor his aimed at you. But he clearly cited himself as the source, the person who knows, in his comment.

The comment about not discolsing sources was a generalisation in response to asking people to share sources, and I suppose it's most relevant where the source is a 3rd party who does not want to be disclosed, but also if people too openly disclose information and/or how they obtained it, you will potentially lose the ability to continue data mining and/or modding the game in future. It's happened before where people have openly posted data directly from the games files and the next game update has made it harder to access those files.

As you rightly say, anyone can claim anything and not provide a source. We see people make baseless claims all the time. That can happen here or in discord and we have to look at the persons record of credibility to judge how much faith we put in their claims. With many claims, it's very little, if any at all as most people who make claims have no history of credibility. But some do.

I feel like we’re all talking about different things now.

Anyway.

Let’s move on.

Wishing you guys a great Sunday.
I’m out sledding with my daughter now.

I want more American Road cars. More variants of all muscle cars like 5th gen Camaros, A Shelby GT500 (Preferably S197 styling), 2013 Challenger with the 392, Ford F-150 Lightning (2002), IROC Camaros, SN-95 Mustangs, and a Chevelle. Give us a Goddamn Chevelle and it better have a 454.

This pretty much covers what I was going to say myself. I have no affiliation with the GT modding server, I just have access to info that I would like to keep access to, and maintaining a relatively low profile seems to have worked so far.

There’s no grand conspiracy or secret society - the fact that the sources haven’t gone away is likely because none of us are coming in here and going “SUZUKI JIMNY COMING NEXT MONTH?!” before it’s official and having articles written about it and so on - the wheel isn’t squeaking enough for PD to grease it.

I think claiming it’s toxic is a little far fetched, if you’d rather I never post what I think is useful info then it’s no skin off my back.

Not impressed. Novelty cars I'll drive once. Perhaps there is a track coming as both spots are blank for R4 of Nations. I am sure in the past I have still seen the track listed on the schedule when the car has been unknown, but I wouldn't put money on it.

I love Silvias. More of them please! Ah well I've been happy with the recent (cough) updates, can't win them all.

let's be real...track is a NO NO...we can be happy if there will be any new for this game...I highly doubt...if they are really into gt8 or gt sport 2 or whatever.. they will save those track for other games...its not like they have 6 more tracks to give.

maybe I am wrong..maybe right time will tell...
there are plenty of games coming on console this year..I am excited for them..that's why I don't bother anymore with gt...but if something really good comes then I will jump into the game again
