Gran Turismo HD officially canned - Next stop is GT5

Yeah quite, that's why I don't like people downing GT HD too much. In any case, would you want lots of cars on the grid in GTHD Premium? With only 30 cars (at least initially), a competitive race would only have 2 or 3 different models, so with 20 cars on the grid, there'd be like at least 6 of each, maybe in different colours, but nah. Especially looking at Eiger Nordwald - would you want to squeeze 20 cars onto that? I doubt it. I wouldn't want to squeeze 12 cars on it. A 20 car grid at R246 would be good, but that can be done in Classic. Atm, Classic is where it's at, Premium IS the beta test of GT5, a Prologue if you will. I'm still more than satisfied, and STOP PANICKING. lol.

These GTHD's are little more than GT5 'Beta' tests for the public.

Yep. I don't think anyone has said otherwise.

No one is forcing anyone to buy every single car available in Premium - you'd be stupid to do so, since GT5 will probably have a majority of them free anyway a year or so later.

KY said GTHD purchases would transfer to GT5.

Think of it as PD giving you, Joe Public, the chance to Beta test the next GranTurismo. Say you had no knowledge that GTHD even existed, pretend you'd never heard or read any of this stuff about GTHD - how much would you pay to be a tester for GT5?

Me, personally? Very little, if anything. As for everyone else, I think only the most "excitable" of GT fans would fork over large quantities of cash for the opportunity.

As a UK user who was conned out of 1080i from the PS2 version, I am eager to be playing the GT series in High Definition. I would pay the cost of a normal game for that privilege alone. When was/is TGS?

You and me neither. But i'm sure many would. And i'm sure they'd pay at least a couple of hundred $/£'s - as much as they'd spend on a good chunk of cars/tracks in premium.

Guys, have we actually had that confirmed yet? It may be wishful thinking but I'm more inclined to believe the second rumour.

If the second rumor that you're referring to is the "paying is optional, you can unlock stuff instead" one, then I'm more inclined to believe that paying is only optional in the Classic mode, and that Premium will require $$ no matter what.

Oh yeah I'd agree about that, but Premium is only offering 30 cars and 2 tracks, so it shouldn't be too much of a wallet denter, at the prices that have been rumoured (I don't see any official sources on it) that's a maximum of about $21. I'd sooner play to unlock all the cars, there's more of a challenge to it. Looking to get a Driving Force Pro for it - assuming it's compatible with a PS3...

DFP will be PS3 compatible, but..

Better look to get PS3 version of Logitech G25 for PC :)

(link below has many sweet pics of The Thing dissasembled - great quality work in contrast to DFP)

http://www.driverheaven.net/showthread.php?t=106094

Since there is a picture that shows G25 at Polyphony's HQ (seen in previous posts here), we can all expect PS3 version to be launched at the same time as GTHD.

And how much will that thing cost? I've only really decided to buy a DFP as they've finally become a reasonable amount of money. I won't pay anything in excess of £100 for a steering wheel, I don't feel it worth it.

It costs around 300$ in USA. In Croatia it costs 353 euro in this moment.

PS3 version could be a bit cheaper since the retail maths - maybe around 300 euros or such. But somehow I think it is worth it.

DFP was around 200 euros when launched. 100+ is worth the leather, better FF, better quality and separated H-shifing. Clutch - it comes for free. :)

$300, so that'll mean like £200 or so. No thanks! LOL I LOVE the concept of it, the high return rate more than anything else, but jesus, at nearly four times the cost of a DFP it'll have to wait. I can't sink £200 into a steering wheel, I can only just get away with £55, being a mere student. GT HD and a PS3 will be expensive enough as it is, in addition to having recently bought a new PC and 24" monitor, I'll be broke! While the leather and stainless steel is nice, it's not really necessary for me, and the Clutch pedal will only make things more difficult - for the games it's even compatible in. As someone who's not yet a real driver, adding all that makes things more difficult for me, not easier. Like the big-ass Paddles for sequential transmission, but they're what I'd use most of the time... I may as well settle for the shoulder buttons on the DFP. Out of interest does the DFP have anything on its pedal base to stop it sliding across a floor? I can't bolt/attach anything but the Gt Force wheel pedals have nothing and they glide around quite happily. Rubber feet, or an extendable stand or something would be useful.

The DFP does have rubber pads and a retractable spikey panel to dig into carpet.

Yes GTR 2 does support the wheel in 900 degree mode, with the logitech gaming device drivers.

The way i see it is:

GTHD:Classic - Is PD's test program for online and 'big' grid racing.
- It will give PD feedback to what sort of online racing punters like and what they don't like and how 'laggy' the large grids are or are not.

GTHD:Premium - Is PD's test program for downloadable content.
- It will give PD feedback to what sort of cars and tracks people want most and how much they are willing to spend.

I believe it may be backwards. I've only heard of downloading on both copies, but with GTHD Premium actually shipping with vehicles.

That's one rumour, the other is that Classic will ship with all the Gt4 vehicles and tracks, and some extra ones will come along later. That seems a bit more likely, because although it's kinda wishful thinking, without any cars or tracks already on the disc other than the tiny amount in Premium mode, the game is going to be tiny, there's no need for it. I can understand them needing more time to develop premium mode stuff, but the GT4 cars and tracks are ready, so why need them downloaded?

Right i just remembered that people were saying that the new box for GT:HD was all cut wrong. See image below

sc03-05.jpg

It just occured to me that this is actually correct, what is missing is the "PS3" logo or text. As you can see from THIS LINK all playstation 2 games have the Playstation 2 text at the top of the box so i assume that this will be the same on the Playstation 3.

However i could be wrong

Spec....

http://www.gran-turismo.com/jp/sp/de...article_id=376 A link to some GT HD pics awsome... sorry if you saw them allready..

If PD doesnt include an incar view detailed interiors will be a waste. Hopefully there will be working instruments on the dash from the tachometer to the odometer. Even a fuel guage on the dash would be great. I just want to be able to run an entire race without having to leave cockpit view.

At this point in time GT5 cars looks miles ahead of Forza 2, but the immediate track surroundings leave alot to be desired. I think this is because the game is rather early so I'm not too worried.

As for what will need to be downloaded and what will come with the game here are some quotes from KY

On GT Classic

"Using what PD has made in the past 10 years, taking all that content and polishing up to HD spec and making it available online for users to have a very broad, abundance of content playable for online."

So it looks like you will have to download everything online for GT Classic. Will it be pay per download? If so how much will it cost? We don't know.

On GT Premium

"GT Premium cars have blinkers, and all the doors open..."

Makes you wonder if they will include visible driver changes during enduros :D
