Mmm... it was a crash that involved a fatality. Whether or not that aspect makes it into the film, it's clearly replicating the angles of that crash and you're getting into the realms of using someone's death as entertainment. It's... unsettling.
It's not. Especially if its based on a true story. And especially if they do it in a respectful manner. Hell, even if they did it in a somewhat more graphic manner.... albeit with the concerned parties permission, there's even some value in that. I mean... you hear of bystanders getting killed in street racing/takeovers in the states all the time. If somehow the point was driven home enough in the movie to save a few people's life in the real world, that alone is worth it.

Hmm, it is a bit :scared: Especially, for those that will see this movie and know what happened. For a viewer not familiar with racing, Gran Turismo and this story, until we see how that scene is been written and it’s context, the incident might be like many other accidents over Racing history.

The Senna movie could have triggered many people that saw his death that day. The accident of Lauda in Rush could trigger people as well. We’ll have to wait and see.

This whole crash thing included in the movie is predictably being blown out of proportion. Just an unfortunate incident. Nothing more, nothing less. Of course Sony is going to handle it with class. I don't know why people would think otherwise. Its not like Sony or this Gran Turismo movie is trying to rival the harsh realities that Passion Of The Christ, Schindler's List, Saving Private Ryan, or 1914 portrayed.
"Miss it on the track and you could die. This is not a game"

They have to show the risk associated with motorsport or people won't understand it.
Remember, this is Gran Turismo we're talking about. Messing that up would ensure that the brand would be tarnished. And yes, I expect that the incident would be treated with the gravitas it commands.

While I do understand the concern about that scene involving that incident, the fact that its only being shown recently (as opposed to the multiple times that Le Mans flip in the previous ads was shown) seems to indicate that they already had some kind of tack (especially when the actual person that experienced the guilt of that happening more then likely wouldn't approve it either, don't imagine its a memory he OR the family of the victim would like to be repeatedly shown off the way certain sport networks do when a life threatening crash in a race happens). I don't expect it to get nearly the amount of advert time the Le Mans Flip did purely for that reason, otherwise I don't think it would've been well received if they did right out the gate.

What?

Well it would probably matter when reviewing a movie based off of a video game.
No it doesn't.
Reviewers don't need to read comic books to review superhero movies or play the last of us to review the show or read Lord of the Rings to review the movie.
You can do it and it's valuable but it shouldn't be a rule and the reviewer's opinion isn't lesser because they didn't know about the source material

Yeah, I know what it is. The OP said "harsh realities." There is nothing grounded in reality about that movie, or its source material.
Was just naming movies off the top of my head that stood out to me as particularly graphic

Well, we could argue about it until the cows come home, but that would get off-topic.

i wonder if the movie will depend on gt planet for its marketing since nooone can promote their movies right now.

Tbh didnt know how far back fanatec went with gran Turismo

Anyway, the movie looks well produced, might go and see it. I don't expect it to win an academy award, but it could be a fun experience.
Who knows? Could win one of many best category for visual effects, sound editing, sound mixing, fan favourite, musical score( I guess it’ll play MOTC at some stage). We’ll see.
