The on-track cinematography was incredible...
This is my only motivation to see this movie. The writing seems to have come off as expected but I want to see those cameras at work. I'll probably check out a matinee show.
Would you say it might be worth checking out on IMAX?

If you’re going to any movie just to see the practical/special effects or the setpieces, IMAX is the way to go. You’ll only be able to see it like that for a short period in theatres and then it’s gone forever.

My faith in professional film reviewing is restored by the Guardian.
Review by the Guardian
The review doesnt say much, and it doesnt need to I would imagine, what's important is that it's a one star movie.
The guardian and telegraph reviews are a joke, and definitely something that should not be heralded. Regardless of this film's quality, their reviews might as well be written by AI at this point as they are so generic. That is, apart from the even more ridiculous times when they send a reviewer to watch a genre of film they openly admit to hating!

If you’re in it for the racing glamour shots I’d say it’s worth seeing.

I did see it in “IMAX”, but not “true” IMAX (there’s only about 40-50 actual IMAX theaters in the US in total, most are “lieMAX”, which is still digital but better audio). I don’t go to movies often so I can’t say how the experiences differ, but there was some great car noises and having the lieMAX audio may still be worth it.

Just wait a second! There's a Gran Turismo movie!!!!! Woaahhh!!!! That's awesome news! 😉 Jokes aside, how cool is it that our favorite franchise ended up becoming a Hollywood movie, has VR option and World Series professional sim racing events. 😎 I had not imagined THAT when I booted up Gran Turismo on my PS1 more than 2 decades ago.

...they just doing their own series as they been dropped by FIA from all professional eSports Events and being replaced by ACC (a game four years older but every car is newer than GT7, qualifying, day/night settings, damage, penalties, all more realistic) and there is no sign of coming back as they did not fix any of that issues yet. Not even one...

i never read reviews, if something interests me il see it. dont really care what others think..
So if someone recommends a film you would never watch it, same with games? Or if the hype surrounding a film is so massive, you wouldn't watch it?

I call baloney

I'm so disappointed in Bloomkamp making movies like this instead of a District 9 sequel. If would have had to be a near perfect movie to justify it.
I am still waiting for his gritty Halo movie, based off of this short film

they been dropped by FIA from all professional eSports Events
Weird then that the FIA chose Gran Turismo 7 as the platform for the Motorsports section of the Olympic Esports Series in June.

Chosing ACC for one event is not the same thing as being "dropped" from "all" events. Perhaps limit your assumptions a bit more in your haste to paint a game you (and apparently your regularly invoked nine-year old son, who you unwisely also name) dislike but can't stop talking about.

Back to the movie, rather than random griefing.

It's just because of the Prototype Cars and formula cars, because ACC and others don't have them in-game anyway. See the list of all events for the GT Championships by FIA...

But I guess that will be deleted even if I answer to your post with facts that show your random google search won't prove anything ;-)

In the end, I really don't care about this game anymore except making it the most fun for my son, so do what you got to do kid.

your random google search
I wrote the article.
See the list of all events for the GT Championships by FIA
You're still posting about the one event - the 2022 FIA Motorsport Games. Most esports GT championships are not run by the FIA but by the SRO*, what with ACC being the official game of the SRO's GT World Challenge.

I write about esports professionally. You're just pulling stuff out of your arse.

do what you got to do kid
I'm older than you, junior, and my kids are both older than yours.

Drop the attitude. And take this crap back to the other thread(s) you're having your little tantrum, because this one is for the GT movie.

I will not tell you either of these things again.

Edit: Well that was predictable.

Edit edit: As was that. Some people just don't like being shown up as fantasists.

*Actually AK Informatica, for the SRO; they also run the Ferrari and Lamborghini esports series - I literally work directly with them

Lol the picture in that article is mine from GT Sport and I made the liveries.

Can I get royalties please?

I just think it’s funny that the movie is being blasted for product placement and for being a 2-hour long Sony and Nissan commercial, when the real-life competition the film is based on was conceived of as a marketing campaign by Nissan.

If a movie is about a certain brand, like, say Lego. You’d expect there to be a lot of Lego in it, wouldn’t you?

I only usually have an issue with product placement in movies when it’s things like random Chinese brands being shoved in your face at strange times. Here you’re going to see a film about Nissan and Gran Turismo, so you better not be too worried about there being too much Nissan and Gran Turismo in it going in.
1:43 into this:

I remember even as a kid this jerked me RIGHT out of the movie (which, in retrospect, was a blessing - it's not a good movie).

So... there's some interesting legislation around copyright and user-generated content, and that basically can be summed up by saying "no".

In principle if you have generated unique imagery using video game assets, anyone wanting to use it should ask permission to do so (unless you've granted them permission to do so by, for example, posting it onto a website they own and which has a clause in their terms of service granting right of use of uploaded content) and give an appropriate credit. However they don't have to pay you anything, and they can use it whether you say so or not and without credit.

It could in theory be pursued by the people who made the game, but it is vanishingly unlikely to happen.

I actually encountered this when another gaming site used an image I generated for a GTWS article on GTPlanet for their own, similar article - entirely innocently, thinking it was an officially distributed image. They did add an image credit to their article.

if something interests me, il watch/play it. not just because its the “must see film of the year” according to critics or reviews.
im not really into being told what i will like or dislike..

I saw an advanced screening last night with the wife. We liked it and to be honest it was much better than I was expecting. I can't fathom how a fan of the game and racing in general would not enjoy it.

If you're the type to watch a movie and critique every little nuance or specifics...I feel sorry for you. Who cares about product placement. Would some of you prefer fictional companies?

Grab a pop, popcorn and watch it. It's a pretty good movie and the fact that it is a true story is amazing.

We just came back from the cinema and I must say it's a great movie.
But.... the beginning could be alot better. After the break it became one of the best race movies I've seen so far. The race footages are phenomenal.
I don't think alot of people will like this movie. The fact of a gaming kid becoming a racedriver will not attract alot of people, but for us simracers it is a great movie. Gran Turismo sounds and some in-game footage, but not too much. Well done!

This is what one top rated film critic said:
You ever watch a car race on TV? You ever watch for more than an hour? You ever watch for 135 minutes — willingly? “Gran Turismo” is just the same cars, going around and around and around.
Says it all really and why you need to make-up your own mind. Or at least listen to those who are interested in the genre.

I thought the trailers were fairly cringe, as a longtime fan of the series.
Like what the hell were they thinking with them? The trailer I saw before Oppenheimer made it look like they were remaking Days of Thunder rather than trying to chronicle the GT Academy program; and the one that I saw prior to Tom Cruise 7 seemed to base it's entire concept on 15 year out of date stereotypes of gamers being sweaty shut in NEETs.

I asked Sony/PD if they are working on a motorcycle based Tourist Trophy movie on the back of the Gran Turismo release.
They said Nissan want to be involved, even if it was a two-wheeled film.
They sent me some development footage.

I've never seen so much ******** within two hours. True story is a good joke. Sorry for my honesty.

The most stupid thing is that Jann participated at GT Academy unintentionally and he didn't ever heard anything from this event before as a big GT fan. There was no promotion for the GT Academy. They just used the best times of a random time trial.

He didn't need any race licence for GT3 races because you just get a FIA license by achieving the 4th place in a race.

Overtaking is very easy too. You just have to drive on the outside line especially when it's dry and he learned this from GT. He even achieved the fastest lap time when he was driving all the corners on the outside.

When Jann lapped cars from a lower category they didn't let him pass. They all tried to push him out by intention.

This movie is just advertisement for kiddies who have no interest in racing but do they go to the cinemas? I don't think so.

The movie has no target group.

I am, because life is too short. We live in a world where we are overflowing with content to consume.

A TV Series may look good, but I am not going to watch 13 seasons of it to find out. I am not going to spend £70 on a game to find out its garbage.
