The film is being made by Sony Pictures, not Polyphony Digital.
True.
Still, this project might pull away some resources from PD, or at least some of Kaz's focus on the actual game aspects of his Gran Turismo vision. Obviously not in the sense, that devs working on GT7 would be tied into the movie production in any way. Excuse my way of putting it in my first post.

I’m sure some PD staff will be involved. Although how many, and for how long, is open to question beyond the initial concept and pre-production period.

The more likely impact of this big budget Hollywood movie is a higher profile for Gran Turismo. A higher profile means more potential customers. Something I’m sure Sony will want to capitalise on.

They'll be a 7 minute intro movie before the movie starts, an ending movie 55% of the way through the film with the rest playing after the credits.
the remaining film is unavailable unless you create an account, and purchase it in 12, 18, or 30 minute increments.

So Ordoñez biopic?
More like a Mardenborough biopic.

Why are they wasting precious development time in a movie??? The game needs content, new cars, new tracks and a lot of fixing. Yet they are wasting resources in a movie.... FFS.
If by ‘they’ you mean PD, they’re not the ones working on this movie. Sony Pictures is. It’s like the Uncharted movie, which Naughty Dog had nothing to do with beyond traditional advising and advertising roles.

The movie audience will finally be introduced to the masterpiece that is Moon Over The Castle.
I don't get all the anger from these comments, kinda irrational,i do agree that it's a odd franchise to make a movie about and Blomkamp doesn't exactly have a great track record.
I just hope the racing scenes will be well shot, the Need For Speed movie was bad but it had some well directed racing scenes

Well gee... it might work. They made a Sonic movie and Mario Brothers movie so there's definitely a place for it.

Lol....are they that desperate for money? They can't even make a decent game of GT 7, and no they wanna switch their focus on this nonsense?

Get your crap together PD.
PD has nothing to do with this production, so it hasn't switched its focus to anything. Sony Pictures is producing the film.

And yes, Sony Pictures is totally desperate for money. It's a movie studio, it's what it does. Since Uncharted made it $400m (well, $300m net)...
