There’s more to the world of cinema than comic book and fantasy novel adaptations. Personally I have no interest in either of those genres. We have no idea what tone this movie is going for. It could be bubblegum entertainment like Days of Thunder. A straight adaptation such as Ford vs Ferrari. Or something that’s highly stylised like Drive.
And where did I imply that comic book and fantasy novel adaptations are all there is about Hollywood? I simply mentioned those as examples of Genres that already have an actual Narrative story that would make more sense for adaption then trying to do one for a Driving game, which again has nothing even remotely ideal for story telling. I'd like to Stress that Days of Thunder, Ford Vs Ferrari and Drive are not adaptions of driving games, which is the main problem I have with this whole thing.

Thing is, this is not a direct Gran Turismo adaption of the game but it's rather based around GT academy's story that involves the game , that's the difference

Not sure how 'washed up' Bloom is now, but seems a decent acquisition for what I thought would be a b movie at best.

Perhaps they're going to superimpose their faces on front of the cars, a bit like in Pixar/Disney 'Cars'.

Making a movie about a game thats current release is..... meh....

😆 "known issues"

Staring- orlando bloom-

maybe he plays the Darren Cox role

Should have named it “GT Academy”. Starring Steve Gutenberg, Kim Cattrall and Michael Winslow.
Training up new recruits for the future of motor racing.

Also starring Kevin Hart, Lena Headey, Ben Kingsley, Morgan Freeman, Jim Carrey, Wil Ferrell and many, many more…

DO not spend Money for actors. Spend the money for licenses for cars that really exist. They are way to many fictional cars!

Hate to be the one to break it to you, but the people paying for the film (Sony Pictures) aren't the people paying for the game (Sony Interactive Entertainment), and neither are the people who negotiate licences (Gran Turismo Explore).

Yes. Please also explain the movie is Gran Turismo Academy based, not Gran Turismo 7 based.

I know Kaz has a credit, but sometimes, in movies, the writers haven't paid attention to the original concept of what they are writing about. With all these actors, we may get something totally different form the (insert any GT Academy winner) story. Might look like Tim Burton's Speed Racer for all we know.

And yet, the casual Movie going audience isn't going know that because the movie is simply called "Gran Turismo". I guarantee they, nor the general public at large, will go in remembering GT Academy was a thing so its not going to matter.

I’m speaking on the comments here. Some are in jest and some, I think are serious.

I'm really an imaginative person, but I have no fantasy how a plot to... Gran Turismo would work?? I mean really like.. ohh look here is a new promising young driver who should get the chance for a real race car... let start with some super slow K-cars... and after ... 4 weeks he is starting in the LMP-1 class or something.. Whaaat?? :D

I hope they get the engine sound at least right, so we get all nuances from vacuumer cleaners :D

Like any other racing movie.
Ford Vs Ferrari and Rush are good examples

Handily it's already been explained for you, so you don't need to imagine it...
a teenage gamer who wins a competition staged by Nissan to become a real racing driver — in a story that parallels Jann Mardenborough’s 2011 win in GT Academy
Quite how that fits into what we know of the story [...] we’re not sure, as up until now it’s appeared to be a fictional version of GT Academy winner Jann Mardenborough’s story.
It’s a story which sounds uncannily like that of Jann Mardenborough who, as a teenager, won the Nissan-sponsored GT Academy competition in 2011
It’s the fourth piece of casting news we’ve heard regarding Gran Turismo thus far, with the story [...] seeming to be an adaptation of Jann Mardenborough’s experiences.
I mean, I think it's a story about someone like Jann Mardenborough who wins something like GT Academy and becomes a racing driver, rather than a story about a racing game...

Wondering if there is a sliver of chance that GTPlanet will get a shoutout in the movie 😂

Never seen nor heard of this bloke. Feels like a bomb already.
I'm almost morbidly curious but... which bloke? We're up to four casting announcements now - and all are male...

I’m surprised Harbour was up for this. The movie has a high chance of being a turd. Comparing it to Rush, Senna etc diminishes the significant achievement of those movies in bringing historical racing legends to the screen. What history has GT academy to compare? After the recent GT7 money grab I can’t help but feel this is nothing but a money grab on the part of various Sony companies. Sony has always been in the business of milking their franchises in five different ways, see Spider-Man and the various Sony Bravia and PlayStation cross promotion.

I’d say comparing it to Rush and Senna as a production. Not as a full on biopic. Even the production of Le Mans. They’re racing movies.
