Gran Turismo Sport 1.34 Update Now Available: Five New Cars, Autopolis Circuit and More

Physics changed. TC 0 on Gr. 3 is a lot easier to handle but I think it still needs to be fixed a little. On the other side, I'm a bit confused about inconsistent physics of GTS.

Like how it says 5 iconic cars of the past.

Technically speaking, the time at which I started writing this post is already 'of the past'. Heck, 1 second ago is already 'of the past'. Nothing wrong here.

Anyway, all 3 cars I wanted, purchased and painted in a Dark Metallic Blue. Nice.

Christ there's always one who has to be very literal. Its not iconic of the past, it got released in January. Everyone should put just take their anoraks off.

I will legitimately be stunned if there's no track.
WOW with all these type replies. The title says
Five New Cars, Autopolis Circuit and More
so yea there is a track and more, and five new cars. I'm surprised they do anything the way everyone just complains about whatever they do.

VBR
A new circuit, what a nice surprise, & a real world one too. VBR is a very happy boy.

:D

That's funny, I totally forgot that Autopolis was a real circuit. Running a few laps last night I was thinking how great PD has gotten at making fake circuits and how Autopolis was probably their best fake circuit they've made. So it makes sense that the course with the fun awkward sweeping turns and the weird camber changes is a real world circuit.

He posted that before the update went live :)

In 1995, GT1 pole at Le Mans was 3'55. (and it was the F40 that was fastest. The F1 GTR was 3'57.)
In 2018, GTE pole at Le Mans was 3'47.

There will obviously be track differences but it is equally obvious that a GTE of today is running faster than a GT1 of then.

It is therefore correct that the McLaren F1 GTR should be in Group 3.

That is completely true.

But you also have to take the improvements of tires into account. Over the years the tires got more endurable and much more grippy, which leads to a much higher Cornering speed.
If you look at Laptimes of the 2008 Super GT cars and the new era SGT cars you will see Laptimedifferences of roughly 7 secounds (depending on track) and much faster corneringspeeds. But if you look at laptimes of Motegi which is more of a Stop-and-Go track and grippy tires aren't as big of a factor as in Suzuka, you will see that the 2008 cars were as fast as the 2017 cars (at the same track conditions!)

So it would be quiet interesting to see how fast the F1 GTR would be with tire technology of the modern age. I still think they would be faster than a GT3 car. But in the end we will never know and in GT Sport it makes sense to put the car in the Gr3 class as GT limited themselves with other class options.

McLaren F1 GTR is so detuned to be competetive in Gr3 class. 200 kg added and 70hp less with bop on. It wold be much better that PD added 3-4 GT1 cars from '90 and made its own class with real life spec. Am using it on tine trial or against Gr2 cars without bop.

People moaning about a 'Le Mans' car being in GR3 clearly know very little about Le Mans. GR3 is absolutely the place for it to be. Until PD recreate the whole 1995 Le Mans field, add multi-class user controlled racing, add time changing light conditions including night and put it into GT1 class then FR3 is the best place for it.

As usual with these updates, here are my thoughts & analysis...

Well well, I thought it's gonna be a small update but Autopolis is a bombshell! Can't say I was excited at first because I remember this track in NFS Shift and it was drab. Thankfully, GT Sport has better physics and PD is better at making tracks accurate. I'm surprisingly enjoying the track. First sector reminds me a lot of Motegi, which is to say nothing special. But the second half of the track after that tight hairpin is a roller coaster. It's pretty much what the last half of Tilke's Fuji always aspires to be but fails. Well in Autopolis with its elevation changes it's absolutely amazing to drive. In online races it's going to make for some interesting dogfights and alternate racing line choices :D Unfortunately, despite being used for Super GT I feel the second half is also too narrow for anything faster than Gr.3. It's almost like they run out of asphalt halfway round the track  I also wish they added the short Lakeside circuit. Would be a nice little kart/N100 track instead of Maggiore Center again and again *glares at this week's Daily A*.

No circuit experience for SSRX is to be expected but I was also little bit disappointed. It would've been the easiest, longest and most hilarious CE ever if PD made one

Cars wise, not too many surprises. Tried the Supra first because it's new to the series. Bought it in yellow and matte grey. I must say I'm impressed with the handling. I can see why Toyota is pretty bulllish about it going against the Cayman. Looks wise, I still feel they should've kept the Mk IV spoiler and quadruple taillights, but anyway it is what it is. The rev counter is more futuristic than I thought, but the damn reflection of the speaker on the dashboard is blocking the windscreen :grumpy: Power wise it can only be tuned to 600 hp or so. No more 4 figure tuning a la 2JZ.

Huayra I noticed they finally listed the paint colour names (in GT6 it was unlabelled). Went with bare carbon just like in GT6 :D

The F1 GTR as others have noticed is quite blue and not black  I always thought the real car is black but evidently it must be a very dark blue and only GT Sport's wide colour HDR can accurately reproduce it. I see people complaining about it in Gr.3. Well in Assetto Corsa this car is absolutely murdered by GT3 cars around corners. On a straight line it's faster, but aero and tyre technology has come a long way since then. The only reason why F1 GTR in GTS is faster without BOP is because PD's magic aero numbers treating 90s aero the same as current aero. So IMO they are right in putting it in Gr.3. Personally if I'm making the game I would put it in Gr.X for now until they added more old GT1 cars, but that would also make people angry. You just can't win.

Miata, nothing special. I kinda hope they would also bring the NB and NC to complete the roster. The Miata event is kinda lopsided with just the NA and ND.

Speaking of events, man is PD really not making an effort anymore. The Miata and Miata+ events both have the same exact tracks (Tokyo and Autopolis). Both same layouts and same time of day, only the number of laps change. C'mon Kaz... Another Gr.3 endurance too when we could have Gr.4/Gr.2/F1 races with tyre/fuel consumption. It's almost like PD is making more effort to keep the game boring than trying to spice things up :grumpy:

Other than that a few issues with the loading screen getting stuck and the menu music keep on playing even though I'm already in a race :odd: I'm going to give it the benefit of the doubt for now as the servers are probably swamped with people downloading updates.

Also checked the controller config screen for any sign of DRS/KERS button in preparation for the Super Formula update - still nothing as of now :/

Overall, a small update but with a big (and nice) surprise in Autopolis. Roll on SF19 later this month and April's update :D

Now excuse me while I try Monza in GT-R GT3 in ACC. Crazy double update days...

2007 pole position, 1'45.601
2008 pole position, 1'44.548
2009 pole position, 1'44.390
(three years in a row just to rule out a weather condition)

2017 pole position, 1'36.316
2018 pole position, 1'35.550

That's not exactly what I'd call "as fast", quite far from it.

BTW. Reallife Motegi Qualifying GT500 2016 and 2008:

So the 2008 cars fit into GR2 more than GR3

Well, if I remember correctly I found quiet different Results for Qualifying for 2016.

And by weather I don't mean rain or no rain, but also track and air temperatur

Ford GT Test Spec II vs Mclaren F1 GTR on gr.3 lol

Happy about the new track. Can't wait to download the update!

Well the McLaren 650S GT3 has around the same BHP and is hit heavily by BoP.

The new 720S GT3 has nearly 100bhp more than the McLaren F1 and gets hit with BoP too.

Not as ridiculous as say a GT4 Veyron. Oh wait it's "Gr4" so that's OKAY.

Should have used an emoji at the end of the first part of my post, the joke would have been more noticeable...

Duh, of course they're not 'of the past', as in 'iconic'. It's alright to not like the joke, you can't please everyone, but it's not alright to label someone as 'obsessed with a certain subject' in a pejorative manner.

Yeah the Veyron is the most out of place for Gr.4. Can understand if it was turned into a Gr.3\2 lol

WTF, the F1 GTR is in Gr. 3?

I can't believe they screwed that up, this is a Le Mans car!

Gr3 are LeMans cars too. At the time the GTR was in the top class, the top class was far more street car based.

Also it would really cool to know what differences there are with tire wear. Maybe someone wanna test out the ferrari on Bathurst and see if that is any different? @Voodoovaj ?
Or if anybody notices any differences?

It sure seems like tire wear has changed somewhat. I have set a 2:02.0 Q lap with the Huracan at Bathurst. It was a bit of a handful on wear yesterday, worse than it was in 1.32. I know it got a little worse with 1.33, yet, it sure seems a little worse now. I can barely come down the mountain now.

I haven't tried with ABS weak to see if that's changed.

I tested Pagani Huayra and this car is really hard to handle, the brakes with that power should be a lot better, i like the engine sound this car makes when it slowly move with some sounds details i never heard in other cars.

Fair enough I shouldn't do that, apologies.
