I don't know why but I have strong feeling of a surprise summer release, end of June/early July is my latest prediction!

Edit: 2017! I forgot to put :sly:

2017 confirmed!

I agree it has to be. This beta is to test server load and infrastructure for network races (of which GT Sport will be hosting a lot of). I can only imagine they are near 100% complete to start this stage of testing. June/July seems reasonable to me. I do suspect the beta will not have access to many of the games 'offline' features though, like car customization. It might not even have the ability to do any offline racing.

.
Autumn?
New Forza, NFS, Project CARS 2, F1 2017, other racing games... I don't think so.
Yes but summer? Not even half of the car and track roster was shown so far, springtime will consist of the Beta to collect info on online stability, then finish of that and the offline mode in less than 4 months and add the extra month before launch when it goes gold.

And this being PD? I would be really surprised... :P. Autumn already seems early for them and like you say that's when the competition will be there in full force.

Testing servers and the complications that go with the process takes a lot of time. This is early beta access, it's already March, and they haven't even announced for how long the first phase of closed beta testing will take place. Wishing for a summer release is a bit far-fetched IMO, and knowing PD's track record, even a 2017 release is still optimistic at this point.

Yeah that's the thing, Autumn would be the first realistic deadline for them to release the game and that would require a massive effort and everything going smooth as silk. But then they fall right into that slot when all the other big guns present their work so it would be wise for them to postpone it to March '18 or something.

Or they could just release it half finished of course, and make the punters wait for a 'later update'.

I'll be brutally honest and take off the white gloves for a brief instant, but releasing GT Sport in the fall with everything else that's scheduled to drop in that timeframe is pretty much the digital equivalent of committing Seppuku.

With all the hype PCars2 is generating currently, chances are that'll be the title to beat in the racing world for months, perhaps years to come.

Wow, the PS Blog article only has 26 comments. This thread has 157 and counting.

Surprising the apparent lack of interest on the official blog.

I would be surprised if Gran Turismo SPORT doesn't release a lot earlier than pCARS 2. Anyway, E3 will be exciting if they have huge information blowout then, fingers crossed they actually do have a lot of extra content to show still and that it will be ready for launch.

Bro, I've complained a lot about PD PR, but if you're their attempt at it, then I take it all back. This is great fun, after a long and boring and frustrating wait.

Much appreciation to you and your shady informants.
I fully agree. Thanx @Dionisiy!

Signed up! I hope to get a chance to play this. Reminder to everyone that gets in: Drive as much as you can to give the maximum amount of data to PD. Your assistance will allow PD to give GTS a much stronger and polished game on release day!

Signed up for the EU beta.. lets hope it's not too far off and I get one of the golden tickets haha :D

Good to see something for the lucky few who get selected happening with this game at last 👍

This was a surprise, didn't expect a Beta after they pulled it last year. With Tag Heuer announcement feels like all in on the online E-sport front. Will GT Sport have an online that was like GT 5 Prologue, that game was solid online for whatever reason. I'm curious as to what level of simulation we will have access to, fingers crossed it unadulterated at all and it's just no hand holding at all.

So let sink that in for a moment, basically PD isn't either that far along or they haven't done much server infrastructure tests to polish there game???
Is it me or am i missing out on something here? Cause when turn 10 released forza 5 and 6,they didn't need beta testing at all, they were ready, playable day 1 out the box online, drivatar system which learned from your driving skills which kinda looks like data collecting to me,project cars 2 with the content there offering,i gotta say, this beta is ride or die for PD,in this state gts is in now, throw in some weather effects in like forza 6,they were not dynamic but the races are far more fun and challenging, they got a chance,i'll reserve my judgement when i get a chance to play the beta, but overall its just the visual presentation that holds their back for now, makes me wonder what will forza 7 deliver knowing scorpio is coming holiday 2017???

I just picked up a T150 today, so I hope my submission gets chosen. In the meantime, I'll get to enjoy Project Cars and Dirt Rally with a real control scheme.

I hope your enjoying it.
I love mine.

I'm curious if beta testers will have to sign a disclosure, or will they be able to openly discuss, record and share their thoughts?

There are hundreds of thousands of people who will buy the next GT at release or pre-order just because it is GT, and they have never even been on the GT Planet website. Many of these people don't even really know what pCARS is. Just remember that..

There's an NDA in place.

3. You must keep confidential all information relating to the beta software and the beta. You must not discuss the beta with anyone except us and other people taking part in the beta ("Beta Testers"). In particular, you must not discuss the beta with anyone associated with a competing videogame format or publisher, a news or information service (whether television, magazine, newspaper or otherwise) or in any online forum or chat room, other than our official beta forum. Any codes or passwords which give access to beta software or beta forums are personal to you and must not be shared with anyone else.

Nobody knows what the game will be like until it's released, so calm down and use better grammar. At the moment, it looks like you slapped your hands across the keyboard.

I think thats just a "standatd" document and don't allways apply for the betas.
When you get the code than you will get the real notification what is allowed and what not.
Why would there not be a NDA? If it was an open beta, then yeah, no NDA probably. This? It's a closed beta where only a group of people are going to be selected.

While they sleep US gamers can play, so when they go into work the next day they can pour over the data!

Highest activity time is between 6pm-12am. That makes the US sync with their work hours.
Asia/Oceania doesn't.

...Obviously, I'm not going to sit here and pretend to know the real reasons why only the US gamers get to have the first go.

But there are three points with PDI's reasoning that doesn't make sense to me. Thus, I take their words with a massive grain of salt:

1. If the time zone thing is real, then why are the South American gamers left out? After all, they do share the similar sort of time zones as the US. Why are they left out, then?

2. It has been well documented in the past that the US isn't even remotely the biggest market for GT games. Not even close. So why start the first test of arguably your most important product so far in a market with a lower pool of potential customers?

3. I've never participated in a Beta testing so not sure how it goes. But do PDI employees monitor the progress of every single race that is happening in real time, or do they check the data collected overnight via special measures put in place? The first scenario is rather unlikely to me, as that would be quite a drain on manpower and resources. The latter option sounds more likely. And what about the Beta testers themselves? Would they play the game and give PDI their input at the same time? Or do that separately?

---

I'm just guessing here, but one of the reasons why the US gets to have the first dib is because of the language. I mean, unlike any of the other territories, only a single language is spoken in the US. Officially, anyway. I'm sure that makes it much easier to communicate with the testers and evaluate the impressions from them.

As I said before, though - just a guess and not based on any solid evidence at all.

Not all closed betas have an NDA.
We should wait until we get the codes.
Alot of sony betas did not have an NDA

Also this was written 2012 (Confidential Beta Agreement Version 2.1: June 2012)
