The thing is, the descriptions vary from country to country.

Here's what the officiael GT Sport UK Page says:

The graphics, sound and physics engine will be the most realistic ever experienced in a driving simulator thanks to the new platform and the new technologies....

And here's the text from the US site:

That Gran Turismo SPORT will feature highly evolved graphics and sound quality, not to mention a totally revamped physics engine, should come as no surprise....

And at the official reveal Kaz (or translator San) have told pretty much the same thing as the US site says.

Poly is a bit naive with this statement. When you have one of the worst sound in the business, you must be humble. Maybe very good sound but don't pretend to have the best! I can see a lot of video comparison real life/game with the PD statement as a caption.

Indeed, which suggests the people in each region doing the translating are taking different interpretation of the original Japanese. That's why I'm curious what the original says, human translated.

@queleuleu No offence intended, but it's probably naive from the customer to take advertising catch lines to the letter. As far as sounds goes, it seems PD have implicitly admitted their flaws and have been hiring more qualified personnel.

I'd guess more like the US version than the overly exaggerated UK one...

Regarding those statements, @Imari I'm curious if the original Japanese is so definitive?

Both are similar but not the same as the Japanese.

I'd have translated it thus:

On this new platform the graphics, physics and sound will of course reach unprecedented levels of realism. It will also be a revolution in how driving games are played.

This is our vision of "a reincarnation of motorsport".

Notable differences from the US and UK:
1. No explicit reference to driving simulators as a genre. (UK)
2. It's not about changing the way driving games are seen, it's about changing how they're played. (US)
3. Redefining the definition of gaming and motorsports is mostly made up, and is just a :censored:ing terrible line anyway. To redefine something you are obviously altering the definition; "redefining the definition" is ridiculously redundant.

Let's be honest though, it's almost all marketing BS. It's vague enough that they could probably release GT6 HD and have it fit the description in some hand-wavey, kinda-sorta way. The only "hard" information is the Nations and Manufacturers Cups, and the Beta date window. The rest is basically woo.

My hope is that GTSport and GT7 represent a divergence in the series, with GTS being a game targeted towards the hardcore simulation element of racing, and GT7 continuing in the vein of GT5, GT6 etc., catering to all comers, especially casual players. To me that's the best of both worlds, for them and for us.
I think you're right about how the franchise will be "split." Except I'm sure GTS will still be open to beginners, maybe more than ever. Skill will likely play a big role in how the game progresses but shouldn't alienate anyone - I believe a solid ranking system is crucial there. GT7, like GT6 would allow the beginner to get far and feel accomplished without requiring any major steps up in ability. I'm sure the full range of realism/difficulty adjustability will be available in GT7, and GTS on a more event-dependent basis. The games would guide the player differently.

Ranking is key to insuring enjoyment and replay-factor across skill levels in GTS and eventually GT7's online component. They need to make it easy for players to jump in and enjoy racing against other people, regardless of skill or gamer type. That's the worst thing about the last two games... there is so much tasty fruit in there, but it's not really within reach of the casual gamer and unobtainable for beginners. Quick match really opened my eyes to that. I'm probably part of a smaller demographic - higher skill level but very low play time (pseudo-casual.) I think what would work well for me would be a boon for the wider community: an always shifting set of predetermined multiplayer events with a mixture of courtesy car only and bring-you-own car events. Straightforward access, like a heavily overhauled (not so flawed :ill:) and expanded GT6 quick match on FIA-brand steroids. That would bring together a wide swath of the community.

Who am I kidding, it will be a free for all

Taking a step back though, I don't think it will be an easy task to divide GTS and GT7. They say GTS won't be a prologue... that will be tricky. It probably won't matter. Once GT7 comes out (let's be honest, it will be an unreasonably long while after GTS :indiff:) GTS will be cold and just get absorbed into GT7. Sony gets to sell 2 games for the price of developing less than 2 (in the same time T10 made 5 or 6 games )

Hi, can i have some news from the developments of the future gt titles ? When the gt academy will start and what platform it will be released?

Hi Roberto, unfortunately I don't have any details I can share at the moment, development is proceeding well and we're working on the details of all our initiatives. For GT Academy, I would suggest to refer to its official Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/GTAcademy

All the most recent information will be published there. Emoticon smile

Fine della conversazione in chat
And that was my turn of "asking to GT Crew".
P.S. i had sent it yesterday morning.

So got this reply from Facebook for following question, wonder if they reply only on Fridays. They also replied to a message I sent them in 2013 but left that part out. Too soon that reply, 5 years would have been more reasonable.
Hi regarding GT SPORT, will it support 4K resolution? Does PDI have any intentions of releasing a mobile GT SPORT game to reach out to more people? Xperia™ X Performance has very capable hardware. ;)
PDI
Hi Saidur, unfortunately the team is all focused on GT Sport for PS4 so that functionality you are asking for it's outside their bandwidth at the moment.

GT Sport will not support 4K since PS4 itself does not support native 4K for gaming. If and when the PS4 is updated, then we might consider it for GT7. :)
Mobile game and 4K on PS4 seems still a possibility. Replied asking about 120Hz rendering for VR and also about GT5P style leaderboards, hopefully get a reply at least by this time next week.

I believe they do answer on Friday's. I asked a question someone else here already asked about the estimated car count in GT Sport (just to check consistency :sly:) and they just answered today from Tuesday!

Yeah, just as GT7 releasing in 2014 was a possibility. Although even that was more likely. That "4k on" switch still hasn't been flicked by Sony for some reason, has it?

Also you do realise:

That is clearly a template answer, don't you?

Might i ask you how you did question about the car count and what they did answer?

I wonder how many messages they get. If it is a huge number, then quite impressive if that person (If it is only one person) manages to reply all / most in one day or maybe prepares answers beforehand.

Maybe they might not enable it but hopefully they do it soon enough for GT7.

It beggars belief that anyone can hold out any hope whatsoever that a machine with the spec of a PS4 can run a GT game in 4k. Get a massively powerful PC if you want that sort of resolution. With a frame rate high enough not to be able to hand count the frames.

A function that was present in every GT game since GT4 will also be in GTS? SCOOP!

Well, admittedly, Prologue didn't have it...

So what is your theory for why they haven't already? I mean if it's that simple, why wouldn't they do it?

I think it's long been determined that some members don't concern themselves with silly things like facts. Or reality.

Might i ask you how you did question about the car count and what they did answer?

Q: Another question if I may? About how many cars will be drivable in Gran Turismo Sport?

A: Hi Colt, the intention is to have over 100 cars in the final game :)

They answered nearly identical as whoever asked this question previously. Also they made sure to include the infamous PD smiley face we all receive and also leave it open to speculation with "intention"

EDIT: Maybe I should ask how many of those cars will be Nissan lol

Got a response regarding 120Hz and leaderboards. Didn't deny anything so promising enough that they will be addressed.

We're going to share the details on GT Sport later on, all your questions will be addressed. Thank you for your patience. smile emoticon

Simple stuff like friends notifications will make a comeback in next update IIRC. 4K probably not top priority at the moment.

That other asking guy was me. I just wanted to know how you asked because i asked them if there will be like 20, 50, or 100 cars. So i thought if i would have just asked how many cars there will be (like you did) they could have possibly told me a more accurate number (like over 150 or something).

Pretty sure the "4k on" was a joke.
Clearly, updating a console to suddenly handle 4k is nowhere near as easy as flipping a switch.
Furthermore, IF Sony makes an updated 4k PS4, you and any interested consumers will most likely have to buy an entire new console.

Small world lol... I wanted to make sure to include "drivable" as well so there was no confusion, but I guess they still had the same answer in mind

Even if the PS4 gets 4K enabled, there's no way on God's green earth that GT7 runs in 4K. Looking at AC and pCARS, you'd need the equivalent of a 970 at least, probably more like a 980 to be safe. More if you want to run anywhere near max settings. The PS4 is nowhere near that, and all the optimisation in the world can't make up for the lack of raw power.

The only way that it will happen is if they release a PS4 Mark 2 with seriously upgraded hardware specifically designed to run PS4 games at higher resolutions.

Someone who answers these questions in a good mood, I've already got two answers for today

Nice! I wish I could think of questions that haven't been asked already, but I'm at a blank :indiff:

EDIT: I asked a final question on visual customization (ie. bumpers, hoods, wings etc.). We'll see what they say. I don't recall any questions about this yet on here.
