Why are some here expecting gamescom news? Sony never said they'll have a show. Seems the last the conference before release of GTS is TGS. Then again, there is not much we don't know about GTSport now.
I was thinking exactly the same thing earlier tonight.
So I went hunting.

Basically I found nothing, including on the German PS blog.
(Although, maybe it's worth waiting a day or two there)
So it looks like off-screen footage it is then. ;)

What is it you want a link for? The number of copies sold? Or the number of people online? Let me do some quick numbers for you, 10 million copies were sold, there were never millions of people online. I never saw more than 20-100 rooms online, and they weren't ever all full. Does that not sound like a tiny percentage of 10 million customers? If you have trouble believing this then I'd say it's a pretty pathetic stance just to defend a game that no longer has a career mode.

So you made it up.

You seam to basing the popularity of the game on sales figures, which is fine,

Seem? Popularity is a measure of how many people like something. Sales of a franchise is what is always used to show popularity. Only naive people think franchises can sell millions whilst still not being liked lol

how popular GT5 was after those people bought it

You do know GT5 continued to sell year after year despite this so called bad reception. The DLC sold a million in weeks. Once again your perception is not reality.

This is my perception, based off my own experience, and numbers, I.e = objective reality.

Your perception is a view. It does not represent the millions of players that gravitate towards GT, which is the reality. An easy way to measure this is sales.

Link for this or did you just make it up?

Go read up on 2013\4 NPD software sales, MCV UK charts in 2013/4 and see how publishers across the industry realised how next gen adoption was incredibly fast and crashed previous gen software sales.

Oh and the amount of HDD space doesn't differ between digital and disc, they both fully install to the HDD and take up the same amount.

You can delete the installs though and still play the game without waiting for hours to re download.

When will TGS begin? Sorry I'm too lazy to check the whole page. :embarrassed:

I already mentioned that FPS are larger with all DLC, however even without it they are still larger as a 'core' install than racing titles.

Not a single PS4 racing title I own comes close to the core 40.1GB for COD:MW remaster

How do you know that the Beta didn't have the majority of the content included and was simply locked? Its certainly not uncommon for Beta's to do just that, of the ones I have taken part in the vast majority do not have a significantly different install size to the final release.

Not that much. If they are similar to the share capture images that the PS4 Pro puts out they would be around 3.5mb each (and if they are much better than that its a waste), so a 1,000 is around 3.5GB, say 4GB tops. Not a great deal in the grand scheme of things.

What tended to push install sizes on the PS3 was the HD video material, which was disproportionate in size, so if they repeat that for GTS (in 4K) then that will push it up.
That s why i ask you if you know the hdd data of HDZ, because there re not big update yet, to know the average data, FFXV have 50-60go, FFXIV 69go but with multiple extension, i don't remember for Drive Club, cause i delete it, but i think not that much but 10go of DLC update

For the Beta, we could estimate because there are only a third of cars and track available or show on showcase scenes/demos, or all other stuff, liveries, soundtracks, scapes misses
So naturally 23x2 equal 46go minima, or we could say 23x3 > 69go, but i preferred to say 40go
Sure It could be have locked contents, or It could not have too

'4go' of scape it s still data that took place in hdd, even for the 3,5mb per picture, the raw pictures normally take much data than output pictures if it were compressed
I saw that video will be back, so yes..and if they reinitiate with Vgt video, it will take some place..

So you made it up.

Quick, how many people work for PD?

Weren't you just going on about how strong the GT brand is?

Popular, well received things frequently being the source of complete franchise reboots, of course.

Which makes one wonder how much worse GT6 could have sold as a PS4 game, since being the last big name title for the PS3's massive install base was how Sony executives thought it would maximize sales.

You would still have to re-install the title from disc however, not that makes a difference to the final size you get, particularity if you want to play on-line as you will need the disc install and all patches to do so.

HZD is 42GB roughly.

The only racing title I have on my HDD that is similar is Dirt Rally (43GB), everything else is significantly smaller (even Dirt 4 which is 31GB or so).

As such I don't see GTS getting to the 100GB level that was mentioned at all, not unless a hugh amount of 4K video is included.

I'm a Sony Beta tester, I can't recall a single Beta I've taken part in that had a significant difference in install size to the final product. Its easier to manage one build and lock content than it is to work with multiple builds simultaneously.

It is, but its not going to push GTS to 80 to 100GB or so, personally I don't see GTS being bigger than Dirt Rally, and in all likelihood being around 30 to 35GB (which is around the higher end for circuit racing titles), unless we get that load of 4K video.

Remember, on the GT website, GT Sport is said to be over 60GB (as shown on the photo), so there could likely be a chance that with several updates and new content, maybe GT Sport could reach the size of Motorsport 7, being that big at over 100GB, considering that they also use 4K and that (I think) the more detailed the graphics, the larger the file size will be.

Ok Thanks
Hdz even with the Pro patch, it doesnt change a lot, it quite suprise me, i thought it has more

Well i remember the only few beta i ve done on ps4, sfv has updates to unlock each characters
But it must be the rare exception

Yup, definitely not on launch period, why not with the 500 Dlc cars ? lol at the end of his life

If we ever get 500, I'm not holding my breath.

Re 4k..^^ I think there are quite a few games now that run 2160p 60FPS HDR. I don't go onto Neogaf but someone gave me this link a few months ago. Quite helpful as they are doing lots of homework on the PS4 Pro..One to Bookmark for PS4 Pro Owners? 👍
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1324251

As said above, Official website says Over 60GB, (I have a feeling with updates on day1..maybe 70-75GB?)
It does indeed, however we will see on day 1, I can't see a 15GB day one patch myself.

@Scaff maybe not Day 1 then.. :sly: But with DLC and updates over the coming months I can see the total game heading towards 75-80GB quite easily. I brought an additional Seagate 4TB external plug and play drive usb 3.0 ..Works great installed in seconds and it should last me a few years of games (we shall see 👍)

Probably a lot less given your penchant for photo modes, Torque... ;)
mmm maybe :embarrassed: Although I don't store many photos on the HDD, I transfer them to USB/PC and delete them off HDD for games only..But yes I have brought a few games this year I wasn't planning too. All the new 4k games, Easter and Summer Sales on PS Store have not helped! :ill:👍

How does extern hdd work on ps4 ? Just plug in and the PS4, install the data on it ?
And are there any restrictions on use ?

Quick question, but the cars that come in the pre order bonus, is it possible to buy them in game or is it a pre order exclusive? (Or do we even know yet?)

Reason I ask is because I missed out on the pre order bonuses for GT5. Years later I still regret it and I don't want to miss out again.

This post is not relevant to previous posts but since I am reading members posted about game size and Pro's 4K above, I wanted to give an insights.

Game size
IIRC GTS CBT game size is about 20GB. I believe that size is stripped version from the retail version. Because you know the primary reason PD release this version: only to test their dedicated servers performance (Sport Mode) but all inputs from players are welcome, too. So I would expect ~30GB-50GB max with retail version -- the Blu-ray (dual layer) capacity. This does not include day 1 update, but please note since it is an 'update', an existing file maybe replaced, and not existing ones will be created.

Example: If day 1 update size is 5GB and 1.00 disc version is 40GB, total game size would be 43GB. Where is the missing 2GB? It replaces the files from the old version.

Or just prepare the worst, 70GB.

@torque99 estimation is also makes sense. Expect when GTS released so many new contents that would be touching 80GB. CoD IW on PS4 already 90GB in my HDD (all DLCs installed).

If you guys an active gamer I suggest you use 1TB internal HDD or purchase new external USB 3.0 HDD at 2TB or more. Please note the PS4 system WANTS a dedicated hard drive, not partition. It cannot be used for Windows PC unless you format the HDD. You also cannot partition them.

Game size with 4K
I am aware about the Forza 7 issue but somewhat relieved when knowing that the OG Xbox One is not going to download all 4K assets. I am not sure about GTS, but I personally believe the PS4, even Pro or not, will download the same game data.

4K
For starters, the 4K term used by Sony for the PS4 Pro is actually to promote a higher visual fidelity. Not *always* a native 2160p resolution as we know it. But all those power users perception about 4K by default is a resolution. Also, power users do not believe PS4 would able to output a native 4K resolution because they simply knows PS4 OG/Pro uses a *weak* CPU. This is where all misleading begins.

Why *always*? Because the hardware supports *native* 4K output. But what about the games?

Games that supports native 4K output on PS4 Pro: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1289840

If not native, they would use a rendering technique called checkerboard rendering. Please note that checkerboard rendering IS NOT an upscale like you imagine a TV would stretch or scaling a larger Image Size in Photoshop. It is a different rendering technique. First time I am knowing this technique (Killzone Shadow Fall, Rainbow Six Siege) I am really surprised because on layman terms you can produce higher fidelity of image with cheaper cost than going full native 4K. It has trade-offs but this technique is golden for developers.

Someone already writing a nice and great explanation about CBR: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1330505

Games that supports CBR (and upscaled to display output if it does not touch 2160p): http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1324251

TL:DR; checkerboard is good.

Good read: https://blog.us.playstation.com/2016/11/01/how-ps4-pro-enhances-horizon-zero-dawn/

Try play HZD with PS4 Pro with 4K, HDR-enabled output setting with 60" TV that has 10-bit panel. Compare with a tiny <32" full HD TV and PS4 Slim/OG. I was like AAAAARRRGGGHHHH.

If you already have television I just mentioned you can enjoy the red of Ferrari color on GTS lol.

This is hard to guess. I also regret that I did not get the preorder bonuses for GT5. But I would take an example for FINAL FANTASY XV Collector Edition contents, they was exclusive for collector owners for some time but later those contents are available (sold) to all. So there is a chance but it depends to PD/Sony.

But I am getting the GTS CE on day 1 so I no need to bother lol.

Re downloading and installing games can be a hassle.

Not to mention not everybody has unlimited bandwidth (or a good connection, which can make re-downloading all the patches for a game a day's work).

With external HD support now on PS4, I think dropping $80-$100 USD is probably worth it compared to having to juggle downloads/installs. YMMV.

.... How many games you play at the same time?
You know you can delete games you dont play, and download them again if you want to re-play them in the future?
I've got a Pro with a 1TB HDD and an external 2TB HDD, I think I have around 80 games installed right now. A mixture from AAA to indie, mixed between bought content (a lot from PSN sales) and PSN+ titles.

I normally rotate around the racing titles regularly, with one other title on the go in addition (PS+ title Just Cause 3 right now).

I keep the rest installed for the occasional play, and because it's just easier than downloading or reinstalling (even with an unlimited 200meg fibre connection).

GT6 sold around 5 million units.

The PS3 sold over 80 million.

Using your logic more PS3 owners dislike GT6 (93%) than liked it, more people dislike it than GT5 (85%).

Sales are an important metric, but they are not the be all and end all of heritage, influence, popularity and in particular quality.
