I was just checking my achievements and realized that my "sport mode" ones (pink) will probably be the last ones to get, if I ever get them. Well, the number of races I'll get of course... but the other 3, I don't think so.

During the demo I got some of them (poles, wins, fastest laps) but because my DR and SR were carried over to the final game and the achievements were set back to 0, I will have a hard time getting those now. I'm always between 5-10th on the grid against top racers (often the top1) and it will be impossible for me to get anything. I'm not worried with not winning the races or getting the fastest laps, but the achievements would be nice.

Unless I intentionally drop back my DR and SR back to E/E, D/D or C/C and start over, the only way for me to get those achievements would be to became the fastest driver in Europe...lol that's not happening anytime soon.

Looks like a bottleneck that PD didn't thought about. People who came from the demo with high DR and SR ratings have basically an near impossible task in trying to get those achievements.

Yay!

IAll that is irrelevant when you can not only own and drive cars, but PAINT IT and make it yours. It's something that GT does so well, something which no game has come close to replicating.

Er, I can think of at least two other racing games (one currently out, one releasing next month) where you can. And, in a number of ways, they do it better than GT — though GT has a few unique features it holds over them, in return.

That being said, it sure does feel good to have a livery editor in GT, finally. I've already sunk a handful of hours into it, and once the import feature goes live, I'll be able to complete a slew of cars.

Metacritic review scores:

GT1: 96
GT2: 93
GT3: 95
GT4: 89
GTHD Concept: 82
GT PSP: 74
GT5: Prologue: 80
GT5: 84
GT6: 81
GT Sport: 75

There's still time but it's safe to say GT Sport is not critically acclaimed thus far.

To be honest, I’ve never really cared much for reviews, one mans pint is another mans poison as it were... personally I’m loving it but I know others loathe it in equal measure

Now that I can say that I am fully adjusted to using my T300rs I must say people weren't kidding when they told me that it makes these games so much more fun. I was having such a blast getting all of the gold times on the nurburgring circuit experience I started getting legitimate blisters on my thumbs and I had to take a break.

Never had so much fun getting a good time honestly. :D

Mate I had an absolutely exhilarating kart race at night on the Nurburgring with my good friend against a few other people who joined my lobby, I could feel every bump through the wheel (also T300RS), it was insane and I loved every bit of it. My mate said even on a pad he could really feel the road. The racing was amazing too, wheel to wheel action nearly throughout the entirety of the two laps that we did. So much bloody fun.

To say that GT Sport is WORSE than GT6 is disgraceful. Heck, I rate it over GT5!

Those ratings are also over 20 years of time. Back at the days of the first GT there was hardly any competition and the term sim racing didn’t even exist for the masses. Fast forward to today there is a load of competition with games like Dirt 4, WRC 7, PCARS 2, AC, F1 2017, Forza, NFS, The Crew 2 etc. The bar has been raised a lot and anno 2017 releasing a track based racing game with only just over a dozen of tracks and under 100 of unique real cars is underwhelming, especially for the granddaddy of them all - the Gran Turismo franchise, for which the latest title has been in development for 4 years.

Having that said, the developers choose for a new era, a reboot of the franchise, a rebuild from the ground up. And to be honest I quite like it. Yes part of me would have loved to see this be GT7 as well but it would just have been the same game again, just with better graphics and more features. I kinda dig this new online racing focus (not to be mistaken with the constant online servers which I don’t like at all) so I will give them the benefit of the doubt and see where it will head in the future.

Rally in GT:Sport though is the most weird feeling/handling rally game I ever played and IMO those dirt physics are just garbage. I’ve never driven/piloted a hovercraft in real life (duh) but I understand it’s physics and the rallying in GT:Sport honestly feels to me much more like how I expect a hovercraft to handle in a game rather than a rally car on dirt tracks.

Not really, no. Remember that review scores are not entirely based on quality, they're also based on content and how appealing the game will be to the average consumer.

GTS does what it does very well, but there's not much of it and it's VERY niche. Compare that to something like GTA V, which does what it does very well, and there's an ENORMOUS amount of content and pretty much everyone will be able to find some part of the game that is incredible for them.

That's the difference between an 80 and a 95.

GT6 did kind of the opposite, it was an OK game but there was a lot of it and it gave a lot of freedom to find your own fun. Personally it's my least favourite GT by a significant margin, but if I was putting a game in a hospital ward for a bunch of kids to play I'd probably lean towards GT6 over GTS. If it was me, I'd prefer to play GTS. But I suspect that your average video game player would get more fun out of a GT6 style game than a GTS style one.

Either way, it's not "disgraceful". It's completely understandable if you take off the rose tinted glasses and accept that while GTS is incredible for the people that mesh well with it's style, that group isn't actually that large. It's not the hardcore sim racers, and nor is it the traditional caRPG zero-to-hero style gamers. It's a weird in-between game, and I think that reviews are accurately reflecting that it's a game that only strongly appeals to a very specific audience.

Not unlike the game that it most resembles; iRacing. iRacing has a 79 on Metacritic, despite it being the best online racing game and arguably the best racing simulation of all time. Why? Because it's niche as 🤬, and honestly most gamers will not put up with it's highly realistic BS enough to get into it. Or simply don't find that style of gameplay fun.

So any times I set whilst playing Campaign aren't saving to the leaderboard. Neat.

Yeah i would not be playing anything that i wanted to be saved in game if its not working.
You just gotta wait it out hopefully with the server maintenance going on rite now that issue
should be fixed soon hopfully

Hello, I am new to the gtplanet forum. I was thinking about buying this game but I will wait until December for sale and I will explain why. I did watch some Sport Mode gameplay footage and the game itself looks really good. I have a couple of questions:

1. Can you buy cars and use them for Sport Mode or the game will provide a car for you to use in a race?
2. Is this game really design to play on a wheel? Because I only play with gamepad.
3. How is Sport Mode?

I know this is wayyyy off topic but I pre-ordered PC2 back in August and since day 1, I spent almost a month in career mode. Four days ago, I just started playing online, had a awesome time racing with other players and now my driving rating is D1369. Now back on topic, it got me to think if I should get GT Sport too or not. I know the biggest complaint about GTS is lack of tracks, which is why I want to wait for this game to go on sale because $60 bucks isn't worth it for 17 tracks with 40 different configurations. The car list doesn't bother me too much. Feel free to criticize me as you wish.

Had my first win yesterday , in the brands hath race
but with a time of 0:58.347 i'm now with the faster racers
started 8, so can't win anymore
like that race because the car can't be tuned
so everyone is fighting with equal cars

I tested something quickly by buying 2 Mazda MX-5’s (the cheapest car in the game).

1) When you buy a car twice but in different manufacturer colours, the livery colours are not added to each other under the “Change car livery” option. So each manufacturer livery stays unique to the specific car you bought.

2) The resell value of a car is exactly 1/3rd of it’s buying price.

About a half hour ago I was searching for 'old' GT cars that can be used for inspiration for the livery editor. Then I saw a screenshot from one of my favourite cars in GT6.. The Caterham

Wouldn't be great to have this car in GT sport combined with PSVR ?:bowdown:

Imagine GT6 game with GTS lighting . would be more then enough to revisit. Shame pd no do remakes, reboots or anything like that.
Would be nice to see other devs remake some older GT games. Just dreaming.
Weirdly i like GT psp game so much for it strange buying cars system. And racers were great. That thing rebooted would be amazing with full cockpits .

Major improvement (for me) in the quality of racing in today's daily races now that PD has ensured that grids are full of drivers with an SR of A and B.

I noticed that I seemed be to being matched based on my lap time today and not really my rank, which meant for the 3 races I did I had a lot of A/S ranked drivers when I was just D/A. Really boosted my DR, gained about half a rank per race and am now on B/A. :D

I kept my B/S rating from the demo and I finally managed to win at Brands even if my wheel opened the PS4 menu during the race (lost 2 seconds) thanks to a crash from the 2 leaders. I won over 10 races in the demo but I was still winless since release.
