The Top 24 race thing was amazing last night. Excellent driving all around. Finally put up the footage from my Nations race. Superb racing with MarKo_25, @maxking39, imEbrahimX7, and some @hellZfirE in there for good measure. The manufacturers race was a little less exciting I guess. I dropped back through the grid pretty quickly, as the racing was tight with all those people and the Gr3 cars are tricky to handle. Little bit of bouncing around but still good fun. I think @Windfire1010 touched my car at one point so.. never going to wash that panel again

A particular highlight for me was probably when MarKo_25 and I went two wide through most of the hairpins.

Yesterday I got all gold medals in Driving School, Mission Challenge, and Circuit Experience after not playing them so often in 55 days log on. GT League is so much easier, 25 wins of 25 missions; playing them is very boring. So I started to beat Single Player in professional difficulty. Anybody know what is the prize if we beat all Single Player?

I don't know if there's a prize for completing all of them...

There's no prize for completing the Arcade mode in Professional difficulty (unless you play it for the sake of being a completionist or to do the Daily Workout, but i suggest you to just play a Custom Race instead)

This is so cool! I never would have thought we'd have clean, competitive matchmaking racing like this on a console, let alone the GT series, a few years ago.

Thanks for the info.

@MikeTheHockeyFan Yea it was good fun. I'll say most of my FIA races are of this quality of driving, and pretty much everyone I've run with in S is there for a reason, but this Top 24 thing was exactly what I'd hoped for: An excuse to get a (almost) full room together with the best. And because it was a One Make (with a good car), everyone was evenly matched where as the other FIA stuff kinda depends on if your good with your car/the track combo. Up til this point, the most S drivers I'd seen in one of our FIA events was 11? All the time slots tend to divide us up.

There were a few notable omissions from the roster here, and I wish they had participated as well, but I'm sure they were busy. Now I just wish I had taken a screenshot of the driver list for the video.

Just tonight though we had 15 S drivers in our Manufacturers event because the second to last time slot disconnected for all of us, so we all had to pile into the last round for the night. Also a good race (except for me and my stupid Ferrari)

Man, the short lap Sport races are a mess... so many drivers trying too hard in too short a space of time...

I've only used the One Make to achieve the 2 x clean race milestone, by "qualifying" last and drive clean, giving the fact that there's players that make mistakes all the time, you also raise a few positions

But seriously now, what's with players that are within the last positions, messing the race for the middle or front ones? I was in 5th place and there was a player on 14th among us, ramming like a douche...

Does anyone have any idea when the next update/DLC cars will come? I'm undecided whether to buy new cars with the prize money, or save up and buy when the DLC cars come

Cheers

I think Kazunori Yamauchi should be ashamed
we pay to drive
and only once a day in the race FIA manufacturer series
you enter the race
you take a couple of laps
waiting for
you're okay for the race
then throw you away and say that you are not connected to the server
and you have no more right to enter the race
goodbye to the race,
points.
rating
fer play
career advancement
but, basically, we pay for the service we do not get

on punishment and when you are not guilty
I think it makes no sense or writing
and for the post above
at least to get an apology

Looks fake but its from PlayStation Belgium.

Random possible revelation I just had after trying the Gr3 Lambo:

Are the physics just busted for MR Gr3 cars? I've been using the Ferrari and Mclaren since release and they've just been so frustrating, I assumed it was the default setup on those cars. I believe I tried the NSX at some point as well and had a similar experience. Now having driven the Lambo and it has the same, extremely difficult to handle characteristics, is it just an MR thing? I've been using the Porsche today and it feels solid and great, but that is technically a MR, but isn't it sort of unique? Maybe they've got some special physics model for this MR/RR hybrid..

I just don't understand how all of these cars are so undriveable, even after various updates/BoP changes.

So, what's your intuition, people?

At least, will we have a new race track on the next update?

I have 130 hours. And I'm already pretty bored.

I've been working on a little guide for people struggling with Sport mode... I would love it if you guys could help me work on improving it... or if you feel it's total nonsense

Introduction
This is only intended as a guide for people who want to race in the Sport mode and who want to having close and clean racing with people of similar skill levels. This guide or I cannot make you faster.
Sport mode is designed around two core ratings systems; SR and DR. These ratings systems are ranked S-E and have hidden sub-values of 99-1.

SR refers to the ‘Sportsmanship Rating’. A key problem with this system is the name itself. ‘Sportsmanship is such a nebulous term, that in the online racing world of GT: Sport it is almost meaningless. Not only that, the game isn’t competent enough to understand what mode would, or wouldn’t consider ‘sporting’ behaviour.
So, I like to think of this as meaning; Safety Rating. This makes far more sense to me, because you get penalties to you’re SR rank, by driving in an unsafe manner. For example; going off track and hitting other cars. If you stay on track and avoid crashing or making contact with other cars, you’re SR will increase.
DR refers to ‘Driver Rating’. This is pretty straightforward and is a rating of how fast you are. If you qualify at the front and are able to win races you’re DR will increase.
These two systems govern which drivers you are matched with in Sport mode. This means that you want to make sure that you are in the best possible rated group of drivers you can, this guide will help you to do that.

The Setup
To start off with, the first thing you will want to do is to make sure you’re SR is as high as possible as this helps minimise the number of races ruined by other drivers.
But before we get into Sport mode, a good trick is to first make sure that you have a view and a setup that gives you the best possible spacial awareness. For me, personally, I find that cockpit cam offers not only good visibility, but also allows me to see the steering inputs, allowing me to catch the car when it oversteers and to correct it when it’s understeering. Both important for wheel to wheel racing.
There is also bumper cam, which gives you a massive rear view mirror and allows you to get closer to the track and can make positioning your car easier.
Those two viewing angles are the ones I would recommend the highest for a newer driver to Sport mode, but you can use others if you are struggling. The key, is to be comfortable with the car and to be able to correct mistakes without the car spinning.

The second thing you’ll need to do, is enable the Radar on the HUD.
This is one of the most important features in the game, that most newer drivers don’t notice. This radar gives you 360 degree topdown awareness of everything around you’re car and it’s position relative to the edge of the track. It also displays other cars so, if you are side by side with another driver, you can do so without making contact, even if you cannot see them.

How you have the HUD setup correctly and the right view enabled, lets get onto the events.

Events
Sport mode is split into two sections, the Daily races and the FIA races. For this guide, we'll ignore the FIA events.
The Daily races are split into three races that change every day. They will usually focus on three different categories, usually a GR3, GR4 and a one make series. They will also vary in length, from 3-4 lap races to 10 lap races. If possible only race in 10 lap races, this gives you the most track time to increase your SR score and also to learn tracks.

When you enter into an event, you’ll have the option (and more often than not) to qualify. Ignore this and instead make sure you do not set a time. This will allow you to start from the back of the grid.
From the lower SR to the highest SR to even Formula 1, turn one is the most dangerous part of the race. By starting at the back you give yourself the best chance of not being involved with crashes and incidents that would hurt you’re SR.

When the race starts, my advice would be to coast into turn one. The breaking point will not be the usual breaking point of the corner and you’ll also have a large number of cars in front of you all fighting for position. You can never win a race in turn one, but you can lose it. This is something you’ll need to remember.

The first few races the goal isn’t to win, the goal is to raise you’re SR to S. So take the race at an easy pace, make sure you stay on track and try to avoid other drivers. In the lower SR groups drivers will try and take you out and smash you off the track. You’ll want to avoid these drivers at all costs as all they do is ruin everyone's racing. While they crash into others and may finish ahead of you, you’re SR will improve and the racing will get cleaner. Let dirty drivers stay in the low SR groups while allowing yourself to move onwards and upwards.
If you come across a group of cars fighting, just back off and follow them. Don’t get involved, chances are they will probably all go off the track and you can pass while they are in the grass or the wall. The same is true when you meet a driver alone who seems to be all over the place, the best course of action is to avoid them and not to get involved.

When you finish races, you’ll be presented with a score screen that’ll show everyone's finishing positions, the gap to first place, each driver's fastest laps and then their ratings. What you need to make sure, is that every race, you’re SR level, is in blue. This means that it is increasing.

Hitting SR-S
This is now the start of being able to race properly and working on increasing you’re DR score. Increasing your DR is not an easy task, unlike SR there is no relatively quick way to increase it.
When approaching qualifying, you’ll want to spend a good 10-20 laps, learning the track and mastering each corner. Being able to push the car on its limits is good practice for when you are side by side or trying to make a move. If you know exactly how your car is going to behave you’ll make places up quickly without affecting you’re SR.

When you enter into Sport events, you’ll notice that your car will be given a number. In order to increase your DR, you’ll need to finish higher than that number. The higher you finish, the more points you’ll get and the higher your DR will go up.
This is why qualifying is now important. If you can qualify in the top 5, you stand a good chance of being able to get onto the podium.
Another thing to remember is that you can’t win every race and that SR is still something you need to maintain. Try and imagine that whatever car you are using, is like an F1 car, even slight contact and you’ll take damage or be out of a race. You’ll still want to make sure that your SR is blue at the end of each race so you can get the highest SR-S rating of 99. You can learn more about that here.

Personal Recommendations
I’ve been playing GT: Sport since the beta, but I’m not an expert and I’m in no way the fastest driver in the world; I’m currently SR-S (99) and DR-B (16,557). That said, I’ve had some really brilliant wheel to wheel and nose to tail races by following these self imposed rules;

  • GR3 cars only. A personal choice more than anything, but the GR3 cars are slightly more of a handful than the other classes and so for people to be clean and ‘fast’ with them, I feel that they are probably pretty competent at the game and less likely to rear end you.
  • Races with 10 laps or more. We all make mistakes, 10 lap races give people the most time and opportunities to make mistakes (being fast and consistent is hard). It also gives you more time to recover from your own mistakes.
Another factor for picking 10 lap races is that people become more patient and don’t make rash divebombs. It gives people time to set up moves and allows wheel to wheel battling for many laps without people getting rushed for time, forcing errors.
  • Real world tracks only. I’ve found that the fantasy tracks have poor run-off areas, walls everywhere and are generally more harsh on SR penalties. The real tracks give you space and reference points to real racing to help making moves and avoiding mistakes from others.

Final Thought
You cannot change the way the penalties work in the game. Some of them are fair, some aren't. You also can’t change the behaviour of others on track. The only thing you have total control over, is your own driving and how you approach Sport mode. The better mannered you are and the cooler headed you are, the faster and higher rated you’ll be. There are always going to be dirty drivers, some will be successful (Maldonardo), you can’t control that so don’t let it ruin your experience and enjoy it for what it is.

Any help with improving it or what have you, would be very welcome. I Just wanted something we could point people too who where struggling with people smashing into them etc etc as there are a lot of threads, some go into really detailed feedback and pointers and some go nowhere. Br nice to have that knowledge base in one place for people to read.

Yep, people who know what they are talking about say it's because the default setups on a number of cars (the Gr3 Lambo possibly being the worst offender) are awful and without changes, either by allowing the user to tune or by PD themselves, those cars are useless.

Just had the race of a ****ing lifetime.

It's the next round of the Manufacturer Series. Yesterday I came in 2nd place. Today, history repeats itself - after an hour and a half straight of practice, I qualify in 2nd place, and the guy who qualifies in 1st is the same guy that won yesterday.
So, I'm reasonably confident that I'm not coming 1st - and indeed I didn't - but I'm feeling pretty good about a podium finish. Top 5 at least.

First lap, first turn. I get better exit speed and start gaining distance on that rabbit in first place.
First lap, second turn - not counting those S-bends. I get dive bombed. Some doucheballoon in a Viper slams full throttle into my back wheels and sends me spinning off the track and into a wall. By the time I get back on track, I'm in dead last and my front wheels are damaged.

It's the first lap and I'm in 20th - making my second-place qualifier completely worthless. But I'm like... I practiced this car, this track, for 90 minutes. I'm clearly faster than at least 18 of these drivers, even in my awful rank. There's no way I'm finishing last place.

On the final turn of the final lap, I overtake the Viper that dive bombed me and finish in 3rd place.

Marko is one of the cleanest drivers out there. I have to say tho, i got punted and pushed wide a lot in that race. My pace wasnt good enough, i had little time to warm up for the event and my qualifying was a disaster.

Really rough race pace and contact wise. Good job from you tho.
