I wonder if Kaz is one of the most successful game developers of all time, the guy owns a mercedes GT-S and he has all these deals with car manufacturers that lets him drive a brand new GT-R for a weekend

What Kaz good at is obviously how he and his team communicate and manage relationships with car manufacturers also the way he persuade them to make something exclusives that you will find only available in GT only, for example Red Bull X cars, VGT cars, and pre-launched cars/production prototypes such as camouflaged R35 in GT5 Prologue, Corvette C7 in GT5 and now the new GR Supra Concept.

Even though it is good expertise Kaz had, I wish he wasn't swayed by his reputation because what future GT need is more deeper and immersive driving experience as other titles trying to developed through times. GT evolution seems slow that it needs to catch up with what current sim driving players want. GTS is fine in my opinion, but after this Kaz and PD have to get serious to catch up with other similiar title if they still want to keep those "The Real Driving Simulator" tagline.

Can anyone remember the car used for the cover on GT1?
Have most of the cover cars been Kaz's personal cars?
I figure the Acura CL Type-S probably wasn't. As that was a North American model. However, the S2000, Porsche, Ford GT, Stingray(not too sure if he owns one, but I remember he did drive one at Willow Springs), SLS(?) and now the AMG GT.

Maybe it is more like his favorite cars, yet some of them were indeed owned by Kaz too. Not sure about the Stingray though.

I don't think GT ever tried to be the best sim of all time,GT 1 they never held the title of best sim racer, the games were always on the line between full sim experience and arcade, what GT always exceled at was the feeling of being a race driver, starting from the bottom, tuning cars,selling/buying cars, the license tests etc that is something almost no other sim racer has(maybe the first Toca Race Driver).I agree GT can always evolve and try different things(GT Sport is proof of PD trying something new) but their philosophy always remained the same "make a sim racer that is enjoyable for everyone to play".

Always liked the mystery car on the cover, and it's fitting because its the cover for the first game in the series, the intention is for us to pick the game and "uncover" the car

    • Nissan GT-R (R32)
    • Mitsubishi FTO
    • Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 5

I don't think it's a matter of catching up. The game never wished to be a full on simulator and that's not such a bad thing.

Fair point. That is what make GT being itself by the way. Just want to point out that Kaz should be aware of the competition for racing games these days. People prefer other titles or moved away from GT for some reason too. For those who stick with GT titles they were likely already knew the essence on what makes GT being enjoyable or preferably it is part of their childhood memories.

I don't say it is a bad thing, hence why I said GTS is just fine being racing games. It wasn't about the deeper sim aspect to be honest, but more like adding new and fresh features that people wish for quite some time besides variety of cars and tracks.

GT Sport is not what casuals want from a Gran Turismo game,Sport mode is aimed at a niche audience,it's like trying to sell Iracing to casuals on console and expecting to sell 10 million copies, but GT is a blockbuster franchise from 1 to 6, GT 6 had underwhelming sales because it launched at the end of the PS3 gen and it still sold 6 million copies, that's something alot of games from all genres wish they could make. When GT7 arrives people will come in droves.

I think that the reason why the Mégane Trophy is not in Gr.3 (aside from it's specs) is because all of the Gr.3 cars have centerlock wheels fitted by default, whereas this one uses a conventional 5 lug nut racing wheel.

Why it's in Gr.4 then, to where it should belong into Gr.X? Because, as @MatskiMonk said that it once competed in the N24 in the SP3-GT4 category, which is some justification there. Otherwise, there could be some Executive Meddling between PD and Renault (and probably their Sport division as well).

Understandable. 👍 Hopefully next GT is something that most of us wanted to be by the way

I believe it's also run in the Creventic 24 hour series under the same classification.

Someone asked them a question.
"The Next Gran Turismo... Does it mean that it's not GT SPORT?"

They replied.

It seems that only they know when it'll be coming."

We have probably 2 more years of GT Sport it's definetly coming as DLC,the question is "when".

I logged on Tues and when I entered garage all I had were DLC cars. Tried rebooting and re dowloaded everything and still no cars. I have all my pics, liverys and replays but none of my cars. Im just going to grind it out and buy cars again but I cant get the 125 shifter kart. I watched the etiquette videos again to see if I could unlock it but nothing. It not in the GT dealership either. Any help would be appreciated.

Mitsubishi Starion GSR-VR is Coming to Gran Turismo

Interestingly, the only Starion we've ever had in GT is a Group A Rally variation. Which was ludicrously expensive in GT4. Would like to drive the road variation as I've never touched one in any other game. Heck, I can't even recall a game which had the Starion.

The Tokyo Xtreme Racer games have a road-going Starion, as well as a few others.

The Starion Rally Car is actually a Group B prototype that never raced due to said class being abolished in 1987 (it was phased out in 1986 due to the dangerously high speeds of such cars). That is as far as i know about such car.

Yeah, I'm going with a not happening for the Starion. If it takes 3-6 months for PD to make a single car, that means they are being extremely conscientious about what cars they put in the game. With a maximum of 500 cherry picked cars. I just can't see this happening; the Starion is unexceptional in every way.

Identified the model.
It was the early twin turbo model!
We haven't seen it in GT games for a long time...

But they says it was ages ago, so it's not clear whether the GTO is really coming...

That probably means its closer to showing up in the game than the starion is right now.

Forza 7 has it. So cool to have all the Porsche 924/944 "rip-offs"(FC and Starion). ;) I can see the Group A liveries already.

We have two Renault Clios, a Raptor, and a go-kart. Anything is possible at this point.

History would disagree. Strong history in rallying and production car racing. The first gen was featured in the movie Cannonball Run(damn, so long ago).
Also, if there were no Starion, Chrysler wouldn't have rebadged it to make the Conquest and then, soon after, there'd be no awd Diamond Star Twins(Plus fwd Plymouth Laser).

Keep in mind it's been established that PD is taking GT6's super premiums and optimizing them for GTS and adding them. these cars take much much less time than modeling a car from scratch, which they'd have to do with the Starion
