Pretty interesting read. Get these guys on the PDI team. :sly:

From TCR Europe FB page:

300 hours of work are needed to digitalise a TCR car.

The opening round of the TCR Europe SIM Racing series has unveiled the virtual versions of the TCR racing cars that have impressed motorsport insiders and fans alike for their realistic and detailed look.

To enter the SIM racing arena in the best possible way, the WSC Group has appointed Italian expert Luca Ragusa who has made a stunning job in programming the homologated models and rendering the liveries of the different drivers.

“My job consists of programming the cars for virtual racing. I start from 3D renderings realised by Lorenzo Prati of LP Design, and through a bespoke tool I work on the look and the functional behaviour. It takes about 300 hours of work to complete each model; then my partner Marco Sabbatini works on rendering the livery of each driver and it takes him 20/25 hours more per car, depending on the complexity of the decoration,” Ragusa explained.

The drivers may adjust only a limited number of parameters. “During the programming I fix some features such as gearbox ratios, aerodynamic drag and suspension range, while the drivers can later set up tyre pressure, brake distribution and differential calibration.”

In cooperation with the car manufacturers’ technical departments, Ragusa will be soon working on the 2.0 versions of the virtual TCR cars.

“We will improve the graphic so that the cars will show body damage after an incident, making everything even more realistic.”
Currently reserved for the real drivers, the TCR digital cars are already coveted by the fans, as was proved by the comments posted in live chat during the Spa races.

“We are pleased to see that the fans loved them. All we can say to them is to be patient. Soon our cars will be available for them too,” said WSC president Marcello Lotti.

Was diving into nostalgia with watching this.

I think those music in the earliest build are pretty good, but aren't they remaining in the game file of the product version?

Aah that song was as early in the days of GT6 the reveal of the Subaru VGT I remember.
No idea if its hidden in the game files because the product version seems to only play some of the old GT tracks on transmission mode.

I think we should all keep in mind that it could be quite likely at least two more courses are coming to GTS, namely alternative layouts for Colorado Springs and Alsace, as they follow the naming convention seen in other locales that obtained more layouts, like Sardegna and Dragon Trail. (Versus the one used for, say, Fisherman’s Ranch.)

Man, old GT Sport builds looked super different; even if most of the design elements were all in place back then, the UI arrangement, the usage of the PS3-era sound recordings for the vehicles and the different tire skid sounds make me wonder what old GTS was like back then before the final product that released in October of 2017. I would describe it as an upscaled port-forward of GT6.

I momentarily thought "then those musics might be in GT6?"... maybe impossible though.

Well I played the game way back in July 2016 at a GT Academy event in Melbourne. I don't remember much about the UI but it was definitely different to what we have now. I was only able to sample a Nissan GT-R GT3 on Brands Hatch, but I still remember what the the physics were like. Compared to the current build, the car was less prone to understeer and struggled to get out of the corners. You could really feel the downforce (or rather lack of it) in the slow corners, and the weight transfer was more obvious over the front axle when the car pitched and dived. I feel like this effect has been dampened somewhat to give the car a more neutral balance, but it's still difficult to drive out of corners.

Was there a general ratio of how long each racing compound lasts compared to each other?

Also, when I was watching the Tokyo Auto Show Manufacturers Exhibition (which had Daihatsu and Suzuki respectively represented with the Toyota VGT Gr.3 and Lexus RCF GT3) and I noticed something about the penalty zones. I think they are placed as such so that it won’t cause much carnage even when ghosting is disabled. Sorry if I’m a bit late on realizing this...

Haven't sim raced for a while & gone back to AC, which I like a lot- it's the racing game I always wanted on the PS4. I'm contemplating buying GTSport as it's pretty cheap . For someone who hasn't followed the various permutations of GTSport since it came out: how much content is there without PS Plus? Hard to wade through everything to get this information & I gather that a lot has been added since the game was released.

Hey all,
This is my first post so don't be brutal lol!!
I only got my PS4 just before the COVID lockdown so am new to the platform but I've just earned my first million and am trying to decide which is the best car to buy and am seeking your thoughts. Is it worth holding out longer and seeing which additional cars I win?
I can post a list of what I have if that'd be useful but I suspect you'll have a good idea about that anyway.
Thanks all.

Welcome.

Hold out longer. You'll most likely be gifted one or more, one million Cr. Race car, by doing the Circuit Experiences, Driving School and Mission Challenges.

Awesome, thanks. I'll keep racing and see what else I win. I've done the driving school and some circuity experineces but not done any mission challenges yet so I'll try that.
Cheers:tup:

I've just started completing the endurance league and did the first Gr.1 race on Nurburgring with the Toyota TS050 Hybrid because it doesn't have to refuel a lot and has insane acceleration out of slow corners. However it's lacking a bit topspeedwise, so which car would be best for tracks like Monza or La Sarthe? I already noticed the Peugeot L750 Hybrid has much better topspeed but don't know about other cars.

McLaren VGT for top speed runs. Also Tomahawk is legit.

So the Hybrids are generally no good when top speed matters? The McLaren is very fast indeed but it's heavy on fuel. And the tyres don't have a fun time either. Anyway, 15 minutes into the race at La Sarthe I'm already 30 seconds in the lead. Guess I'll just drive it home and then maybe try the Tomahawk at Monza.

This outgoing gen LMP-H cars had a trend of reducing top speed, the 919 Audi R18 etc. all top out at 330-340km/h... the older Gr.C cars went to 360km/h or so... the fantasy VGTs are even faster...

However for low speed tracks I prefer the LMPs... for high speed tracks, the VGTs.

For the way I drive you could do everything in the McLaren VGT. I have no issues with that car, I can manage the fuel and tyres on most of the endurance races but I prefer to have some variety.

It's in-game, under Options.

Go to Options, and click on the gear icon in the top left. That brings up the Edit Profile screen.

Just to add to this when you click on the game options you want to click on the picture circle at the top to be able to update the picture with a game thumbanil image.

What are the odds that a PS4/PC compatible wheel will work for the PS5? With this quarantine business stretching into its third month I'm itching to get a wheel but I don't want to have to get another one next year...

If you buy a higher end wheel, or at least a newer end wheel, I think you'd have pretty great odds. Make sure it's USB 3.0, and maybe the last top two models from X company will probably work, seeing as how there probably won't be a new wheel for the new generation of consoles right off the bat
