Watched the first half of the video. I guess you want to show what enthusia could do compared to GT4?! Because GT6 simulates the things that are shown (donuts, starting from a banked surface and so on)!

Why shouldnt it be possible for a very high powered car to launch in 2nd or 3rd gear? Depends on the gearing ratio and is definitly realistic. Its a different story with a GT3 car on racing tires (or whatever the default tires are in gtr evo) in 5th gear.

GT Sport is not competing against Evo nor Enthusia, as those are ancient games, but against the best current racing simulators, such as Assetto Corsa and iRacing.

PD's announcement was GT Sport is going to be the very simulator today, or at least tied with them depending on the translation. The comparison cannot be console games released 10 years ago, especially when they weren't the best physics-wise of their respective times either (LFS, rFactor, etc.).

Talking about physics all cars in GT have brake bias front 5 rear 5 which in real world(and in PC simulators)would lead to locking the rear tires first but not in GT.Choose straight flat surface and make test.Front tires lock first and the car remains completely stable.

Do you really expect a racing simulator when playing Gran Turismo? It's a mainstream game. Some of the most active members here are also the most cristics with gt, maybe it's a proof of love? IRacing, R3E or rfactor are simulator, not GT. I consider GT a game like Uncharted with pros and cons. To be honest, I've played all GTs but GT4.
GT 1,2 and 3 were fun with some ingredients from reality. 5 and 6 are boring for most of the peope, even more if you're not familiar with GT.
Poly please if you want to make a simulator, that's ok but if you target 10 milion copies, don't forget the fun (and a better soundtrack for racing like in the past with Garbage or Feeder.)

I wonder when we will see a new trailer. Just a trailer for the GTS. Nothing else.

Yeah and the thing than you can alter these settings without any bought parts is incredibly strange.

Maybe, just MAYBE numbers for front and rear are not at the same scale (but i dont expect that)

Love how the news that this "Neo" is making people think THAT is what is making PD take so long with GT Sport when its just PD being Slow as usual.
It's also already been justified also that there will be no NEO exclusive titles, so the new console release reason is pretty much off the table.

I just wonder what PD is doing. They've been dead silent since last October and I'm tired of seeing all of these FB messaging stuff because it shows how closed they're being about it. I mean how hard can it be to take simple screenshots or make a trailer?

All I'm hoping for now is something before or at E3. If there's nothing then, I most likely would give up on GTSport.

Most of the GT fans use ABS-1 and making the braking more realistic will not affect them.

PD is promising the greatest simulator ever with GTS. This certainly raises the expectations to the point where literally every game/sim ever created is fair game for comparison in the future.

In dont see that problem in GT6, the only major thing lacking is torgue steer - which isnt such a big deal to me as the uneven track surfaces are effecting the cars behavior enough - i mean, people had to use the perfectly flat test track to test and prove that torgue steer isnt simulated.

That is an absolutely bizarre conclusion to come to. Cars should exhibit all correct physics traits at all times, not just when certain tracks help them along. That'd be like if a game didn't implement natural top speed correctly and you say it's not a big deal because many tracks are downhill and you can slipstream.

Of course you would use a perfectly flat track to scientifically test torque-steer, you have to take everything else out of the equation. I mean you wouldn't test 0-60 times on a steep incline would you?

Also as @Tornado noted, torque steer is more than just moving to one side on launches. In a lot of FWD cars it should be happening at any time in motion when you put your foot down hard and reach the rev range where the torque comes in.

Is it fair to say that Sony is the cork in the bottle for news of GT Sport? Being quite for so long is really uncharacteristic, even for PD and I wonder if there's some issue between them and Sony. PD want to release new information but they are not able to through no fault of their own, and after the shutdown of Evolution Studios, I'm a bit worried that Sony will happily delay the game so the launch isn't botched like DriveClub.

You could say it but it would be a total guess with zero evidence. PD being quiet and possibly late on their target is not new ground for them in the slightest. If Sony wanted to delay the game to avoid it being botched that would still mean PD are behind, otherwise if they were on target there would be no cause for such concerns.

Oh well, it's just a theory anyway...

I would imagine those are nominal values though.

Torque steer is also going to be produced by asymmetric traction, which won't be present on a completely flat track (assuming uniform grip levels).

With FWD cars, torque steer is generally the effect of a force about the steering axis ie an FFB effect.

Sony may want Polyphony to design GTS and GT7 around their VR and PS4K in order to showcase their prowess when they launch. It has been over two years since the release of GT6, so Polyphony should be around 80% completed with one of their two upcoming titles; considering that they're being developed around better hardware.

Sony must be holding down Polyphony, seeing as they (PD) seemed to be ready to share GTS with the world months ago, and release it within the first few months of this year. Then again, this is Polyphony Digital..

It will come when it comes, Right now I am waiting for Forza Apex. Am so curious how it will turn out on PC, that is huge. A big title like forza on PC. have hell frozen over? If Sony did something like MS, having a steam/windows store client so we can play PS games... GT on pc!!! You heard it here first :P

I mean 60 cars and 6 locations, that is more than what even full games like AC/PC delivers. :P

Blatantly false.

Can you explain what you mean by that please, as nominal values set to 5:5 doesn't make sense either, if it were a nominal value it should still be front biased.

Torque steer is also going to be produced by asymmetric traction, which won't be present on a completely flat track (assuming uniform grip levels).
Arrives at a different phase of acceleration, torque steer from the car is occurring from the moment driven force is applied, environmental factors require the car to Gabe started moving a distance.

With FWD cars, torque steer is generally the effect of a force about the steering axis ie an FFB effect.
Your mixing the affect (steering wheel will also turn) with the cause which is differential yaw rates at each corner. Unless you are referring to the steering axis of each tire.

However even in that case, as tyres are not solid objects, the steering will take time to catch up with the steer effect, as the contact patch flexes and distorts. As such it's not just a ffb effect.

Also, to be fair to Poly, imagine how annoying it is working to a fixed console spec, as they have done during the entire span of the company, and then Sony just move the goalposts as they're getting ready to finally get something out...

It's like being an interior designer, and being told halfway through, 'oh yeah, the house is actually twice as big'.

Back in GT5 , 5/5 means 5/5 which cause no brake assist driving tricky if not know what to do to ( use much higher front to rear ), GT6 changed that, now the actual brake force distribution is hidden, 5/5 is just useless label, the distribution varies from car to car, I usually end up with higher rear to compensate the excessive front bias.

The standard brakes in GT6 also less powerful than GT5.

For me this is wrong.

In GT6 even with front sports medium/rear sports hard tires and 5/5 brake balance front tires lock first and the car remains stable(try any car you want)

I still play GT5 for hybrid cars, 5/5 BB with no ABS will unsettle the rear trail braking into corner ( depending on the car/tune ), I usually use 5/2 or 7/3 BB in GT5, sometimes as low as 3/1.

With GT6, 5/5 will have front bias with no ABS, and it may not be stable when trail braking deep into the apex ( depend on car/tune ), some factors that may increase stability under braking - the car has stock rear toe in 0.60, flat floor, high aero, or high initial and/or decel LSD.

I'm not sure what kind of braking you meant, full force from beginning to stop in straight line ?

This is one of the things GT needs to improve, ABS is not really ABS and when it's not used ( rarely people do not use it ), it's still not perfect.

In GT6, I usually aim for front lock up and almost immediately followed by the rear locking up when braking in straight line ( full force ), this tend to have 1 or 2 higher rear BB, like 4/6 or even up to 6/10 on certain cars.

If you still have GT6 and play it, download some of the replays that I often included in my garage replica posts, you can see how I used the brake balance as stated in the tune post.

It's like being an interior designer, and being told halfway through, 'oh yeah, the house is actually twice as big'.

But see, at this point in the PS4's lifespan, the "fixed console spec" still isn't really all that constrictive, and in some respects, standardized hardware can make things easier because there's one single unchanging environment for developers to familiarize themselves with. Furthermore, Kaz has been praising the PS4's hardware since its launch (blank canvas, etc...), and had mentioned more than a few times in the PS3 era that a lot of assets and coding was being built with the future in mind. So it's very clear PD have had time to work with the PS4, and were even well-informed on hardware direction for a good amount of time pre-launch, if not having a direct say in it's development process. There's little reason for them to suddenly be out of the loop/caught off guard by the 4.5/K/Neo.

And then on top of all of this, no goalposts are being moved because, according to the article, all games are still being required to be ran on the base PS4 hardware, so there's no new standard for anyone to work towards - developers just get some freedom to increase some visual fidelity over the base model. There's no real reason for this particular piece of hardware to have caused such a significant "delay".

In fact, all considered, it's very odd that it's taking this long in the first place.

We're pretty much at the end of 'Early 2016' and we still know next to nothing about this game.

Don't change, PD.

Yep, and even in the worst case scenario, releasing an odd screenshot every now and then would do no harm whatsoever.

They need to up their game big time.
