More Brands Hatch...

I'm not "Like"ing your post, but thanks. đź‘Ť

Sorry, I wasn't trying to be serious.

Your response seemed rather flippant to me, hence the rolling eyes emoji.
Perhaps you were being sarcastic. I can't tell.
Just keeping things entertaining.

Edit.
I like the chances of Daytona joining the track list, with the infield track and also the oval as an alternative to the new Speedway.
I think it's probably fair to lock-in Bathurst, Silverstone, and Suzuka to the list, so we still have 10 spots open.
I do wonder what is taking so long. GT6 started off with Brands. It's a track I do enjoy in PCars. We need more hints of other locations. Things are getting a bit silly now.

Yes it's a wonder we haven't seen Suzuka yet.
With the FIA certification and a late GT6 update it seems a shoe-in.

Perhaps it depends on how far away PD think the release will be.
They may consider the tracks they've shown, including a new dirt track, a new city track, a new oval, and a new layout out of Willow, as showing enough at this period of time before release.
Or maybe they're simply holding the rest secret for the release surprise, regardless of time-frames.

GTHD got what, 5 cars and Daytona or Eiger complete to download?

GT5P demo had 5(?) cars and Daytona and Suzuka or Fuji?(Dang, that's like 10years ago!)

*broken record time*Still surprised they couldn't make GTS demos available for download.

I know.

I still don't get why we had to run the course maker in GT6 on a tablet instead of in-game.

The fact that Poly is hiring non-Japanese speakers in key positions, they need at least 6 more months I think. And I wouldn't be surprised if GTsport was a November/December game.

I think, based on what we've seen, the explanation is far simpler. Those tracks we've seen are the only ones in a state they consider ready to show publicly. Even then, these 6 were all unfinished to varying degrees when we first saw them. Some of them still look unfinished, like the barren dirt track and the Tokyo ghost track. Logically I can't see why they wouldn't show off other tracks if they were closer to being finished, rather than those.

I very much fear they had to start from the scratch at least one time in development or something like that. (Blank canvas taken literally :) )

I think they must have done because a lot of the PS3 tracks didn't seem to need that much work. Only the old PS2 era tracks like Deep Forest absolutely needed an overhaul, the rest could've surely just done with with a spruce up, few new textures here and there.

But if their new rendering/lighting engine or something wasn't compatible with any older track assets it may explain why all but one of the tracks we've seen so far is either new or from GT6 and later. The only exception is Nurburgring and that looked worse than the PS3 version in some areas when we first saw it. The famous flat tree wall.

So I don't think it's out of the realms of possibility that whenever they started on the PS4 game, they started from zero on both cars AND tracks. Which would in turn explain the delay and low number.

My guess is (and really is only a guess btw :P), is that with Kaz saying the PS4 is much easier to work with, "Like working with a blank canvas", is that he/they've take it literally and have started everything from scratch, and are perhaps being overly fastidious about certain aspects.

At the end of the day, I don't know, just thought I'd add something to the discussion whilst we wait for fresh information

I guess it depends which context you view the quote in.

I'm not making any mark my words post, or wild guesses.
But, this sounds reasonable.

So I've returned from Daytona, and I played GTSport in the booth, twice! The settings were forced to the NSX at Brands Hatch, but I was able to turn TC off. Here's my rundown of my personal thoughts:

Graphics: Stunning - Very pleasing to the eye and smooth. Only complaint is there would be frame drops, but that only happened once for me.

Physics: Enjoyable - They're not Assetto Corsa or rFactor physics, but they're still very solid. There was actual sense of car control, which made getting faster lap times more addicting. There was much more road feel and response than there was in previous GT games.

AI: ...still not good - They act the same as GT6 AI, just slightly faster on pace. I hope this is improved eventually.

Sounds: Solid and a definite improvement over previous builds and previous GT titles. There could be a bit more pop to gear shifts when in exterior view. There was a definite growl to the NSX, which was nice to hear.

Overall: While there are still things to be fixed an improved, it is already building up to be a solid game. Most importantly the gameplay didn't feel intense, mechanical, or very complicated to drive. While still having a sense of realism like road feel and keeping the car stable through corners, the game gave a lot more room to relax and enjoy the experience. I'm very much looking forward to the game's release.

I would say more if I could test different cars and tracks, but since this was an Acura tent, Brands Hatch and the NSX was the only car/track combo I could base my thoughts off of.

Ah, howdy @Formidable - you started this whole thread off. Is this your first play then, after all this time?

Thanks for the review :)

I'm glad to see that PD is showing GT Sport to the public, and how PD is trying to reach out to the public to showcase their game. The only thing that bothers me is the advertising campaign for the game. Over these last 9 months, PD has done a few showcases here and there, but they have not really given us a big event since May. We have had to pry out the information to get news on cars and tracks, and after a while it gets extremely tedious. I still have hope in PD, but I think that something is happening that PD does not want us to know about. It seems like they are going down the same path as EA and Need for Speed. Think about it, EA went on a path of not following what the community recommends, and what did we end up with! We ended up with Most Wanted 2012 and Rivals, single handedly the worst Need For Speed games I have ever played. Now compare this situation to PD's, we again see the path of not listening to the community, and they are adding in components to their games that are all being drawn for old kaz's head. Im sorry, but you cannot make games like that in this day and age. If you had a formula that worked and sold very well, then why risk your sales by doing something off the wall. Now I know you will say, " Well chunky that seems a little harsh, they are just trying to do something original and revolutionary for the racing game community." Here is where I say yes, this is 100% true, but it hits a limit to where you go completely A-WOL from your formula. Am I the only person that feels this way? If you feel the same, then quote my comment and respond to my comment.

Anyone who gets hired now isn't making significant input to the game. Give them a month or few to settle in and get up to speed with whatever their department is doing, and it'll be time for beta testing and going gold.

Polyphony isn't going to solve this with hires unless they're looking to delay another year.

Yeah agreed. Interviewing and relocating, getting up to speed will take a while. This is likely not for GTS...

(Unless the damned thing is delayed to next year :guilty:)

It's possible of course, but something doesn't ring true to me.

If, as you suggest, those 6 tracks were the most advanced, that in-turn means the other 13 were well under-cooked.
Should that be the case, the mid Nov. release date wouldn't have even been remotely close.

So either the initial release date was deliberately a complete furphy, or they are keeping the other tracks close to their chest for different reasons.

Edit.
Sorry, I just realised I've used some Aussie slang.
Furphy:
"a rumour or story, especially one that is untrue or absurd."

Which, if the game was only 50% by May and 70% by August, something(as evidenced by sounds, physics, tracks, AI, damage, online mode) or someone was way off.

Maybe they thought after mastering HDR, everything else would be a sinch.
